I really like this song, I would say 7/10 BUT almost just like HS, I believe that there were more potential in the demo "vision" for the song than on this finished version.
Nevertheless ... still a very good song.
Great to hear new material from GNR.

Bits of that certainly tie in with the phone recording from 2010.
My biggest curiosity is: was it possible to "hear" if it was a cool song? Is it reasonable to have such hype?
Concerning UK: same here, it appears THE GENERAL, ATLAS and STATE OF GRACE but nothing comes with "Soul Monster".

That song is a bitch to sing live for uncle ax but holy shit how awesome
He did a very good job! There is simply NO TIME TO BREATH once the Chorus starts

He sounded good. It's hard to sound like the recording, that's it ... without rasp the chorus sounds very very different.
That's what happens when you record something that is in your "limits of performance" and then you go live and play it along with other 3453 songs.
Axl did that A LOT in Chinese Democracy ... this is the same case.
One way or another: GREAT to see new music on the SHOW!!

Ah now, I know you don't like Chinese! but let's be reasonable!😄 Good song but if it was on Chinese it's in the discussion for top 4 rockers on the album, not best song on the album!
The rocker order would go 1. Chinese 2. Better 3. Shacklers 4. Hard Skool ...it's better than Scraped and Rhiad though!😜
If I had to compare with those tracks, beyond any doubt the only song that stand a chance is Better.
And as a rocker, Hard Skool more appealing to wider audiences.
better is a more complex song.
The rest of the material had aged very very bad (refering to those songs you mentioned, I still love a lot of stuff on the CD, specially Prostitute).

I CANNOT STOP LISTENING!
This was EXACTLY the kind of track that GNR needed. Something less ... pretentious ... easy, catchy, FUN!
GOOD OL'TIMES!
LISTENING TO ABSURD after this song makes ... way more "sense". They get stronger together.
Number 3 on the RECORD would be ATLAS, and number 4 Perhaps. => UYI 3

Yeah, I got a two song playlist called GnfR on my phone, 1. Hard Skool, 2. Absurd
They go together well.
Exactly!! CONTEXT is everything!! After these 2, I would gladly put Atlas and on number 4 Perhaps. There you go, a very strong "UYI 3" beginning.

TO BE HONEST, after having HARD SKOOL, ABSURD got better for me!
They kinda "come from a similar sound landscape". Listening to ONE after the other increases the experience! Can't wait for a record!
But, of course HARD SKOOL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Absurd

Watching the show I couldn’t perceive anything that different. Amazing endurance from Axl!
I hope that he gets better soon!

I hope that you’re right.
by the way, good performance of YCBM, encouraging from a vocal perspective

YCBM now.
My expectations for HS are very low now …

Mexico 2020 had it right after You're Crazy
We are just listening to it right now! Might be now!

Where in the Setlist can HS be? Later in the show?

Estranged sounding good now

After a long period without hearing it ... I couldn't resist and I listened one more time to Hard School (not the new HARDSKOOL) ...
Damm .... this is ... the perfect single for a come back. With Slash and Duff, this will sound like an UYI track indeed. Can't wait to hear the proper final mix!

In UK ... nothing. So ... no HARDSKOOL for us

It still hasn’t grown on me.
Now Perhaps however. I went back and gave THAT a listen and I tell you what, that’s A+ Potential right there.
Def! That's a masterpiece! With Slash parts it will be an A+ song

The track is not bad. Slash's work in it is an amazing addition to the song BUT ... for me ... it's sad to hear that they lost such a momentum with "SILKWORMS".
The first studio release of DUFF, SLASH and AXL since ... 1993? Well ...
Hard School would have been the PERFECT song to state "WE'RE BACK".
I hope that JUST ONCE they have a plan for their releases ... and an album is coming soon.

I believe that the perfect order would be:
1) Hard School - with the closest guitar/drums/bass instrumental as possible to Old GNR (UYI) in quality/recording style. That would create a sensation to everyone: "OLD GNR IS BACK" - PERFECT - Slash needs to create one of his timeless guitar solos for this
2) Perhaps - Radio Friendly too. Brings back memories from Estranged ... all of that ... GNR + PIANO. Has everything to be a perfect follow up.
3) Atlas - It will be easier to present a less "Radio Friendly" material but that has a lot of potential.
4) SOG - moment to really show that Chinese Democracy was a great point of the band ... and made the sonority move forward.
Just these 4 songs could make a lot of "impact" if worked correctly ... they are an amazing material that the band has. If they want to be really relevant again, they have the tools to do it.
