  1. The documentary just ended. As soon as I saw Slash playing on stage at the Great Western Forum and the bottom of the screen said August 1991,I got really excited. I knew it was your footage, Marc. I remembered you saying you videotaped those concerts but didn't know what the quality was like until now. It looks awesome. Did you record from one side of the stage or did you move around? Is there any possible chance that you'll be allowed to share those videos with us at some point in the future? I'd love for my future kids to be able to see them someday. I was fortunate enough to grow up watching the Tokyo and Ritz shows but I'd love for them to have much more. That time period is great and those shows were so long.

  2. Hey Marc, I delayed my GN'R demo history project for a while so I didn't just rush to get it out when there's still a lot of good information I can include. I forgot to ask an important question that got lost in my research. I was just looking at a picture of the Sound City demos and it has Shadow of Your Love listed as take 1 and take 2, between November Rain piano and Reckless Life. The one everyone has is where Axl says, "Wake up! It's time to play!" Do you have or know about the 2nd take? If you do, can you tell me what makes it different than the circulating take?

    Thanks.

  3. In addition to the confusion, weren't L.A. Guns disbanded at the start of Guns N' Roses? Duff met up with Izzy in February of 1985 and he said they were starting a band called Guns N' Roses with Tracii, Rob, and Ole. If Axl was kicked out of L.A. Guns, was it likely that he and Tracii would do those first 5 GN'R shows together?

Does anyone know when Axl's last show with L.A. Guns was? I'm aware of only 2 gigs in October of 1984.

  4. It makes more sense that it's L.A. Guns based on what you said and the timeframe, but the confusion stemmed from what Axl said about having the pink leather and face paint. It's very similar to how he left Rapidfire. However, the person Axl's referring to seems to be someone that wasn't on good terms with him at the time of this interview (late 1986). Axl and Tracii performed together April 26, 1986 probably for the last time. Maybe after that is when they were on bad terms, but Axl stll didn't use his name in the interview. He just said "The guitarist freaked out."

  5. Do you think he might have actually praised Slash in front of Tracii and Rob, which would be more likely based on the timeframe and since everyone seemed to prefer Slash's sound over Tracii's metal sound, but mixed it up with the events that happened in Rapidfire?

  6. Hey Marc, do you know which band Axl is referring to in this quote from a Hit Parader interview from late 1986?

Axl: Yeah, but during the time I was in LA Guns, Izzy and I started doing stuff on the side and calling it Guns N' Roses. Meanwhile, the other band I was in got sick of me sitting around

saying "Slash would be great for this..." Finally, I got myself kicked out of the band by putting on a pair of ripped up black jeans and a

spray-painted pink and black biker jacket, doing my hair, putting full makeup on and running all around the stage and out into the crowd one night.

The guitarist freaked out 'cause it was his band and he was used to getting all the attention. So, before I could say "I quit", he kicked me out. I said, "yeeahhh!" It was so great!

I don't know if this could possibly be Rapidfire because based on what I read in the story about them written by Kevin Lawrence's attorney/friend, he says that Axl and Kevin parted on good terms backstage at their last show together. It does also mention that Axl was dressed in leather dyed pink and wearing face paint. He said Izzy showed up backstage and the band knew it was the last show for Axl but they shook hands and that Kevin and Chuck even showed up at the first Rose show in January 1984.

In addition to that, if Axl said "Slash would be great for this." it doesn't seem likely that it was Rapidfire since that was 1983 and Slash didn't meet him until Hollywood Rose were together.

Could you please shed any light on this? Was Axl kicked out of a different band or do you think he is referring to Rapidfire?

    Thank you.

  7. Marc, do you have the actual order they played the set at this gig? I'm trying to go by the photocopied list the band made but the text in your book shows they played Mama Kin in addition to Indiana. Also, the December show right after has just text and no list. Could you please provide us with one if there are more songs other than what was written about?

    Thank you.

  8. Marc, I'm not sure if you saw my question above about the other 7 gigs they played. If you did and still need time to respond that's cool but in addition to it, on the "Slash Pre Guns N' Roses post" you said that one picture was from a party at some girl's house in the summer 1981. Is this the same show where the cops came because of the noise?

  9. Did you get to witness all 12? I remember in the beginning of your book you mention trying to capture Slash every time there's an event.

Right at the beginning of the Tidus Sloan section where it has that flyer made by Slash, are those the songs they played at their first gig, Melina's birthday?

This next question I don't expect an immediate answer on but if it's possible, if you feel like it and you have the time at some point, could you please list the other 7 dates/venues (or parties) that Tidus Sloan played that you can remember? Even if they're estimated dates whether the month or even the season.... Also if anything amusing or fucked up happened at them.

    Thank you Marc.

  10. Hi Marc, I have a few questions regarding Tidus Sloan.

Did they play more shows than the 5 mentioned in Reckless Road?

    1. birthday party where the cops were called

    2. fall '81 Eric Mills' house

    3. June 4, 1982 Fairfax High

    4. July 15, 1982 wedding party where Marc Mansfield pisses in the pool

    5. March 1983 at Seymour Cassel's

How long before the March 1983 show did Louie Mets become the bass player?

Do you have the set lists for any of these shows other than the Fairfax High School gig?

    Thanks again.

  11. Hi Mickey, I was just checking your site to see if any of those shows listed above had their set lists added and for June 8, 1985 in Seattle, WA you have Move to the City, Reckless Life, Heartbreak Hotel, Shadow of Your Love, Anything Goes listed. I thought this would be a set list we would never find. How did you get it?

  12. Hi Marc, a while back you were telling me the different 1986 shows that you videotaped, the ones that were not circulating, and one of them was the 2nd Fargin Bastydges show on May 31. Did you miss the 1st one on May 13 at Raji's? Do you have the audio of that show and just not the video?

Also, the same question for August 28 at the Stone and August 30 at the Santa Monica Civic Center. If you don't have the video, do you still or have you ever had the audio?

    Thanks.

  13. If you have access to Del James' contact information, definitely do it. He could probably shed light on so many things that aren't clear at the moment. I'm still trying to figure out the whole story with Rapidfire regarding where they played because Del told Marc that Axl's first LA gig was at the Orphanage in January 1984 but if he was in Rapidfire in 1983 where did they perform? As far as the Hell House demos, I didn't know where to begin. The final project is already printed and I'm very happy with the turnout. Those house songs are great and I'd like to record them onto a tape. Maybe Del will say if they had a temporary band name or not. Even if it was just a side project.

Lim666, please post those. It would definitely be helpful.

    Thanks.

  14. Marc, last minute question. I'm about to send my project to print. Lim666 just posted something on page 2 of this post with a picture of the tape and everything. Not sure if you saw it. Would it be 100% definitely incorrect, now that you've seen that tape, to add "Think About You" to the list? I have the information Lim666 described, about the overdubs, style, etc. that has all the similarities that the other 4 songs do. Please let me know. Does that tape look legitimate to you?

  15. Marc, when I print this final draft of my Zine, as long as I credit you, would it be alright if I included the picture of Tom Zutaut and Teresa Ensenat with the band? I'm trying to get everyone who was involved with the demo sessions in there, plus pictures of the actual reels or cassettes. Any picture that I use, the photographer will be credited next to it if their name is known. I'd like to mail a final copy to you.

Also, do you know the date or month in 1988 when they recorded GN'R Lies?

    Thanks.
