  1. What's the best way of recording yourself playing guitar (onto your computer) using minimal stuff (for lack of a better word)? I mean, how do you record yourself without going out and buying $184051265 equipment?

    Thanks guys

If you're looking for minimal equipment and cost, the best thing you can do is pick up the cable that murray_TH posted.

That cable will take a guitar's mono signal and convert it to a stereo signal. It's the cheapest and fastest way to record your guitar through your computer, although I really wouldn't recommend it for anything more than quickly recording a riff or two so that you don't forget them.

For not too much money you can by a USB audio interface. Most basic interfaces will offer better conversion rates, thus resulting in better sound quality, than your stock PC soundcard. Plus, the ASIO drivers will give you less latency (delay from when you play the notes to when you heard them through your speakers or headphones) than Microsoft's Direct Sound drivers. If you want to record actual songs, I would suggest getting an interface.

Brilliant, thanks for the great advice. I'll definately check this stuff out

  2. Fellow Melbournians of the forum (if there are any)...our time has come.

Velvet Revolver will be playing at Vodafone Arena on the 27th of February, 2005. Tickets go on sale on the 17th of December.

I, for one, will most DEFINATELY be there.

I'm finally going to see my idols (especially the one and only SLASH). I'm going to see the guys I've seen on DVD and video so many times. I'm freakin' over the moon!

  3. This is obviously going to be biased towards Axl, so I'm going with Freddie.

He really does have the best voice in rock. His range is huge, and so is the power of his voice. He sang operas with professional opera singers and held his ground with them, so this has to say something.

  4. I've been listening to Yngwie's stuff, and I must say, he is fucking awesome.

I've got a classical background because of piano, and when I saw the electric guitar fused with a neo-classical sound that he made famous, I almost orgasmed.

Most of his playing is really just "shredding" where he plays at the speed of light, which means that he leaves out slower and deeper songs. This can get repetitive after a while, and a lot of people tend to brand him as just "wanking" on the guitar but he's still awesome.

Check him out if you're into Eddie Van Halen style licks and passages, but expect that classical edge which I personally really love.

  5. God do we have to go through this again!?

Buckethead is a fuck-up....a comlete failure. He wears a KFC bucket on his head!! Does no one but me see this?? You just CAN'T take someone seriously as a musician if they dress like that.

He has no fucking good albums!! You get that dipshit. BUCKETHEAD LOVES THE COCK.

  6. Why are so many bands fucking ugly these days.

Guns N' Roses was full of good looking guys, and I can honestly say that even though I'm a guy. You've got fucking Axl, Slash, Duff and Steven Adler, then Gilby Clarke. Izzy's not bad, same with Matt.

Bands like Jet and The Darkness piss me off not only because they steal classic rock riffs and the music, but because they're so fucking ugly.

  7. YES!

Today was the 1st day of November, and it rained! I cranked them all up: the UYI version, live versions that I've downloaded, played the video clip and watched it off the UYI Tokyo DVD.

Ahh that cold November Rain has never felt better.

(Even though it's nearly summer here in Australia, and it was more of a warm November rain. Oh well.)
