  1. Even if Axl had intentions of recording with this band, which I don't believe for one second he did (he knows their limitations and what they are there for), image getting a file from Ron Thal titled "Bolivian Ballet" or whatever his terrible demo was he uploaded a while back. He'd just sigh and go stuff it, they can keep doing old GNR covers... The material just isn't there. They aren't writers... Addiction to Friction anyone?

These guys offer nothing except a meal ticket for Axl to keep his lifestyle.

  2. I retract my statement about Slash charging 3800 dollars for a show ticket being the most disgusting thing ever.

The most disgusting thing ever is Axl doing a second Vegas residency.

Considering a Slash signature Les Paul retails at $2999, it's not actually that bad:

    1 x [signed] Guitar @ $2999

    2 x M+G @ $500

Thats $3999 just for the guitar and the meet and greet. Then you're also getting the 2x premium tickets to the show, his signature on the guitar and all the extras: laminate, picks etc included in that price.

It's not as unreasonable as LOLcano would have you think. It's a really smart well put together package. I know, I know, his management doesn't cancel dates regularly and flake out on numerous DVD releases but he's still doing ok!

Besides at least if you book a Slash Meet and Greet you know you'll meet him and not his guitar tech, as Axl does with GNR meet and Greets......and yes I do class Frank, Chris and Ashba on the level of guitar techs. Imagine going to a GNR meet and greet.. Ok well this guy hasn't played on any GNR albums, this guy drummed on one song off the last insignificant album oh and this guy played some keyboards on the same last insignificant album...wow what a meet and greet! Honestly, just buy some beers, get drunk, stick a GNR shirt on your good mate and give him $299 to pretend his in GNR for 20mins lol.

GNR don't have a choice doing a 2nd residency. They probably got a sweet deal. Otherwise they'd be playing 3000 seat theatres in the U.S without the cash incentive/package from Hard Rock.

  3. I might be crazy, but if GNR announce new music then it will likely make news on some major outlets.

With GNR, finding out there is new music is like finding out a volcano is still active. I think saying that only the hardcore fans care is untrue. There are millions of GNR fans that would be interested in listening to new material, they just are the fans that don't pay attention to the band until something is announced.

Idk I don't think Axl will continue on without new music for much longer, I'm hoping we see something new this year. (Ok everyone start throwing stuff at me)

The thing is, even with new music it's too late. Too much time has past. Too many marquee gigs have been butchered beyond belief. Objectively speaking, GNR is finished. They are a laughing stock for these main reasons:

    1. The revolving door of players who couldn't work with Axl. NuGNR is a revolving door group that cannot gain any momentum or gain respect.

    2. Axl's complete and utter unprofessionalism. His appearance as well. He's literally turned into fat Elvis: bloated/out of breath turning up unrehearsed. There's a reason they can only play 3-4k seaters in the U.S.

The overall fact that the first two reasons have been going on for 20 years. The ship has sailed on GNR. They belong in Vegas. Although they should be opening for Poison or Motley Crue.

  4. Slash could play any of those solos. Take a look at some stuff on Youtube from the past few years, especially when he does the Godfather theme/guitar solo. He can shred with the best of them.

shred? It's not about hamer ons /offs or playing the same riff faster. Even ashba can do that, and worse than Slash.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb_JGhml_Hc

That Shackler solo is just half making noises with the pick and half shredding. How can Slash not do that?

Jesus, is that even a solo? It sounds like 50 broken fax machines going crazy.

    Slash owns this nobody.

  5. does anyone remember the compilation video with all of frank's mistakes and axl calling him on it? if anyone has the link it would be appreciated

    Would that not be mean?

Conor says Frank is potentially not a drummer's drummer, but I am guessing he would not want a fellow drummer to be dragged through the mill

They can all drum, it is just a matter of perspective, I presume?

No Guns songs are particularly taxing on drums, which is why they need a bit of flavour. The kind of flavour that could be provided by a more unique style such as Adler's or Brain's. If we're talking purely on a quality and skill level, then Brain and Freese are the best they've had by a mile. They're the most adaptable, most skilled and most knowledgeable. I'm indifferent towards Sorum, but I used to like him. He suits the later stuff that needed a big arena sound, and Adler suits the dirty club stuff of Appetite.

Frank's just piss. He's just lucky that piss is adequate for the drumming of GNR. I can't remember exactly which one it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a performance of Estranged or Civil War at one of the 2013 shows that was just ghastly. Ghastly when I was paying direct attention to it, but that's rare. Provided you don't fuck up the intro to Paradise City or You Could Be Mine, it seems that's qualification to be the Guns drummer.

This. Hell of an example too.

Apparently people can't read past the first paragraph of my first post where I actually elaborated on my reasoning and you would think the hardcore people on this forum would know what I'm actually talking about. But for people who do want some examples...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yYcE0QvNi0 - Well this is just a terrible version of the song in general. DJ fucks up the intro and Axl sounds terrible. But that aside, Frank's drumming on this just sounds so monotonous and bland.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev2hIhTblpY - A lot of people complain about Sorum's solo. But this is just bad. It's all over the place. I actually like Sorum's Tokyo '92 playing. The solo with Duff and the "jam" with him, Duff and Slash is entertaining.

But me? I don't like Frank Ferrer at all. I do appreciate how he's actually a nice and very humble guy, but he's just not a good drummer.

What authority do you have to say that? What arguments dou you have to prove that?

    He has none at all.

What authority do you guys have to say he's not a bad drummer?

    None at all I guess.

I didn't know you had to have professional background to share opinions on this board.

I didn't make a fact-like statement. Furthermore, even when expressing opinions, one should be able to elaborate. otherwise, it's just trolling

I believe that saying " I do appreciate how he's actually a nice and very humble guy, but he's just not a good drummer" is a legitimate and respectful opinion. Can't see any sign of trolling in the guy's post. Compare it to Volcano's post, for example where he often calls the ex-members "junkies", "media whores" and stuff like that....

JFC, the nerve of some people. I never meant this to be an attack on the damn guy and quite frankly I wasn't expecting this thread to blow up either. He's much more tolerable than that tool of a lead guitarist they've had for a few years.

And you know, fuck me because I don't play the drums and that somehow invalidates my opinion on things. I'll be damned before some asshole tries to take that away from me. That doesn't mean that I somehow discredit the drums as being easy to play (Having no sense of rhythm, I get that). You also don't need to be a drummer to note that Frank is a major downgrade from Brain.

I don't hate Frank at all. I just think he's a stale player. Shoot me for not thinking that Sorum is the worst drummer ever or that this lineup of GNR isn't their best. That's really the one thing I'm taking home from this thread is that a LOT of people hate Matt.

Only in loony tune GNR universe can Ferrer be better than ANY drummer after seeing that pathetic drum solo vid. So much fail in that vid.

How Sorum can cop so much hate is beyond me with this boring sloppy hack behind the kit.

Ferrer and DJ are well suited for New GNR.

  6. Well Ron did an interview about a year ago where he openly pointed the finger at Axl in regards to being late. He was like "I don't know what happens on the way to the venue, for Axl to get lost or delayed... We are there waiting too"

So I don't buy DJ's shit, he's obviously sucking up big time. The only person I'm ever likely to believe in regards to "telling the truth", is Ron as he doesn't seem to give a crap about upsetting team Axl anymore.

Regardless who it comes from, "production issues" or delayed room service (in every city around the world) are pitiful excuses and I feel sorry for anybody who would even contemplate they are true.

If it looks and smells like sh*t.....

  7. It is the most ridiculous excuse you've ever heard until you've read what he's said previously:

As for "Axl Time," Rose's infamously late appearances onstage, which, according to Slash's autobiography, "Slash", were one of the main reasons key "Appetite For Destruction" songwriter and former GN'R rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin left the band, Ashba claims that they have nothing to do with the enigmatic singer — they are the fault of the room-service staff at the band's hotels. "It isn't even Axl that's late, it's always our room service that's late. We're waiting to eat before we go on," Ashba joked.

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/d-j-ashba-it-will-be-a-cold-day-in-hell-before-axl-and-slash-play-together-again/

Yes you read right. He says the room service is always late at the hotels which is why they always go on late.

This guy is ridiculous. Everyday he remains in GNR it loses more credibility (if that's even possible at this point).

  8. Imagine when the pilots find out that the guy who said he was in Guns N Roses and was wearing a top-hat actually wasn't Slash and was some ring in called DJ Ashba: supreme intergalactic superstar, with no real actual relevance to the GNR universe or any real significance at all.

The least he could do is Fed Ex them a couple of those dope DJ Ashba leg warmers or air fresheners. Either one would suffice.

  9. really sucks.

another reason society's infatuation with 'tweeting' everything 24/7 can backfire. anyone read about the communications director of a major company who got fired last week for posting an AIDS joke on her twitter feed?

They could've gotten away with it, but of course Dj had to tweet about it.

The police captain's wife posted several pictures of it on Instagram. It was no secret.
And DJ tweeted about it. No one follows the Vegas police chiefs Instagram (besides you I guess) *one could argue no one follows Darren J Ashba's Internet postings either too I guess*

It would be fair to assume that more probably follow the police captains wife on twitter than Ashba who is a relative nobody.

  10. Although I think brain is an amazing drummer I think he is sorely missed even more because of the slouch that took his place.

Frank is an embarrassment to drummers, his intros to YCBM, Rocket Queen and Brownstone are cringeworthy. The most boring/sloppiest drummer they could have gotten. Ferrer hurts this band, just a complete hack and another reason why this lineup cannot be taken serious.

Adler in his prime was obviously the best fit for GNR, but no logical person can go past Sorum as being the best overall drummer for GNR in regard to professionalism and skill.

  11. Let's not forget Axl has gone on record saying he literally sat in a room for 13 years and didn't release anything because Slash and Duff called him a loser. LOL wtf??? That didn't help GNR either.

To illustrate how pathetic this band is, remember about 12 months ago how one of the band's Brazilian coattail riders took a photo of the band backstage and the GNR community lost their shit and went wild because of a new "official photo" of the band. You could almost hear the fapping coming out of your pc's speakers. Whilst other bands are out releasing music staying active, a "big" release for this band is a photo from backstage lol.

Axl will keep running the band into the ground until he retires or drops. There will be no reunion. For a person who is troubled to the level that Axl is, this is not even a possibility.

This band is hilarious. How's that DVD launch going? rofl.

  12. The truth is, if Axl offered (and maintained) a suitable NuGNR version from day 1 people wouldn't keep going on about reunions as much as they are. The reason a lot of people call for a reunion is because they see the revolving door NuGNR as something that can't be taken serious. It's not a band with members who play with any chemistry, it is only a bunch of individuals who are the only ones (At this time) willing to stick around in an environment where even other replacements have cut and run. When you look at this band play they look like a bunch of individuals up there because the paycheck and opportunity is good. There is zero chemistry on stage between any of them. They are a bunch of hired individuals up there to do a job, which is allow Axl to tour.

Axl could have built a legitimate NuGNR, but continues to this day to fill it with the most inappropriate people he could find. You pair that up with his stubbornness/laziness and you have a band that is going nowhere fast.

In my opinion, the time for a reunion is over. Axl has reached a level where he is a a laughing stock in his quality of performances and appearance. At this time he's not even fit to be on a stage with the real GNR. He actually fits perfect in his pseudo parody NuGNR that he continues to flog. It's like the whole thing is a bad joke and the chubby guy wearing 50 oversized rings, an oversized yellow raincoat, a bad 1970s porn moustache and an 1800s Shakespeare hat is just the exclamation mark and a fitting frontman for such band.

In the same breath, Axl is smart enough to know where this lineup stands, which is why he's not rushing out to record or do anything significant. He knows what is the purpose of this lineup and is comfortable with that. It's confirmed he was trying to get Buckethead/Brain and Finck back a while ago, so in the least we know he's never really been sold on this lineup. No other reasonable person has been sold on it either, except for the usual suspects who worship every move King Axl makes...*cough South American worshipers.

Just go with the flow, if you enjoy real GNR, a band that was electrifying on stage, there's plenty of youtube vids documenting their legendary concerts. Just enjoy it. Unfortunately you can never get that magic back again.

The world has moved on though, GNR as a whole is no longer relevant.

  13. Personally, I fail to see how being in different to DJ Ashba makes anybody less of a Guns N' Roses fan than someone who loves him. The simple fact is, not everybody is a blatant fanboy worshipping any new person brought in to fill a spot in GNR. To a reasonable person, half the guys currently in GNR, haven't done anything significant in the band except tour. They aren't even relevant to GNR. Quite frankly, it's pretty embarrassing to keep offering up these employees to meet and greets and public appearances when they haven't even played on an album in it's entirety (if at all). I'm sorry but offering up DJ Ashba, Chris Pitman and Frank Ferrer to a GNR meet and greet is borderline fraud and a sign of lazyiness and complete disrespect to the fans from Axl. Some people may choose to become an overnight fan of the newest person in GNR because they have a perceived "cool" attitude or because of the way they do the hulk hogan ear gesture to the crowd in between botching solos, but understand this...not everyone is that easy to impress. As one of the mods said here, the guy blatantly and repeatedly botches parts in songs. Apart from another 500 shortcomings, this is enough for most serious fans of music to dislike the guy.

You don't have to like Dj and that doesn't make you less of a fan.

Does it give you the right to cupcake a chat involving Dj or a GNR fan forum on a daily basis? Absolutely not.

I wouldn't bother trolling a chat with DJ. If I saw the guy on the street, I'd walk the other way without even acknowledging him. Actually, to be honest, if I could be bothered I would more than likely say "Hey Slash"...but chat, nah too much effort.

In the end I'm not trolling this forum either. I know you're probably accustomed to HTGTH, but there are times you do get differing opinions on forums (a scary and foreign principle for you I'm sure).

As for daily basis goes, I hardly ever post on this site, so I don't know where you got that from.

Objectively, I would say there are 3 major factors embarrassing GNR at the moment. That is:

    1. DJ Ashba

    2. Frank Ferrer

    3. Axl's unwillingness to take this band forward in any legitimate way.

    That's my opinion.

The only possible way I'd cupcake the chat, is if I was guaranteed an official GNR Fan Club towel!
