The jetro lot right next to the linc opens at 1 according to their Facebook page. I should be down there right around then. The jetro, linc and CBP parking lots should be more then enough to hold everyone.

Cool, let's hope so!  I won't be getting down there until probably 6 at the earliest since I'm not leaving until after work.

  2. What are folks doing about parking?  I hear it will be limited due to the Wells Fargo lots being closed for the DNC, and I wasn't about to pay $100+ for VIP parking.  Think there will be openings in the third-party lots around the area?

I'm thinking about taking Uber as well, but that could be pricey since I live in the suburbs and there's guaranteed to be surge pricing when the show lets out.

  3. It's funny, i saw Halestorm had a deluxe CD come out recently and saw the song listing and had no idea slash and myles among others were on this song. the solo and outro were great but I agree the added vocalists did nothing for me, maybe because there were so many :tongue2: ..........though I saw Halestorm @electricfactory inDecember and they were great live. they had no opener, played and 1hr+ stripped down acoustic/piano set - after 20 min break - played 1:15+ plugged in set - and I'd say they were as tight as slash's band is, just spot on every song

I was there! Truly an awesome show. I'm still undecided about Halestorm. Their vocals and drums are excellent, but the lyrics and guitar leave something to be desired. However, their live show is great.

  4. Mark Tremonti (lead guitarist for Myles Kennedy's band Alter Bridge) is releasing his first-ever solo album, titled All I Was, on July 10th. I've heard the whole thing (writeup here) and I must say it is absolutely killer.

The first single, "You Waste Your Time", was released yesterday and is available now for digital download:

    Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081JDL2Q

    iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/you-waste-your-time/id525616574

If you just want to listen to the song without buying, you can hear it on the Tremonti Project website:

    Any thoughts?

  5. No one but Axl will ever sound like Axl. Barring his return, Myles is the best man for the job. No, he doesn't sound like Axl. But VERY few people can even sing those notes, let alone well. Myles did a fantastic job and I'm glad that they had someone so capable to fill in at the induction.

  6. I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I guess no one likes posting the forum created specifically for this show?

Great review, pprucks, I think you nailed it.

The show was absolutely thrilling. We didn't have great seats, but there really are no bad seats in an amphitheater like this. And of course, the amphitheater layout means much better sound than an arena. I got there around 9:00, just in time for Baz to take the stage. He always cracks me up; if nothing else I think he does a great job of warming up the crowd. He played for around an hour, after which I spent about 45 minutes in line for a beer. As I recall Guns began a bit after 11:00, and ended up playing for 3.5 hours. From the moment Axl appeared, he completely dominated. He's up there with the all-time great, charismatic frontmen. I had no qualms with his vocals, which tends to be the case with live shows where you're actually in attendance, and his voice is blended in with the rest of the band, as opposed to a sound board recording where every mistake stands out. I was really impressed at the energy he maintained for the entire 3.5hrs. Lord knows I was already exhausted by 2hrs into the set.

What really caught me off-guard was the sheer talent of the guys that Axl has recruited to fill out his band. I knew they were good, but I had forgotten how good. They are all truly talented musicians. And the band is fucking tight too. You'd think with eight guys on stage, it would just sound like a wall of mud. Not the case at all. It's almost like a carefully-arranged orchestra, where every member has his place within a rigid set of lines that are defined to create the best overall sound. Remarkable. My only disappointment was the "Better" solo. I never even liked Finck - at all - but he's got a very specific touch on the Better solo that is difficult for anyone else to emulate. Other than that, the band nailed everything else. These guys must practice their asses off to learn the music so well. True professionals.

No complaints about the set list either. In hindsight, I would have loved to hear TWAT and Prostitute, but I was so impressed with the length of the show that I completely forgot about which songs I wanted to hear. Every song was a surprise. I found it to be a perfect mix of material from the band's various albums. And I'm just so glad they played Estranged. I wasn't sure if I'd ever get to see that performed live in my lifetime.

  7. Eu/Uk blu Ray is NOT free is R2!

Japanese Blu Ray version is R1 (Japan, Canada + USA); so US fellows can get the full blu ray via amazon.jp or something!

Cheers for the info. I completely forgot Japan was R1 as well.

Edit: shit, this thing is like $50 before shipping.

I may have to skip this one :(

  8. Why do I get a Christian Rock vibe from these guys?

Because they're all (bar Myles) members of Creed and that's essentially what Creed are.

The answer is because you know Creed were perceived as a Christian band, and you have confirmation bias whenever you hear a remotely uplifting lyric from Alter Bridge. In reality, Myles Kennedy abhors organized religion and has trouble believing in anything - which is apparently going to be at least one of the subject matters broached on AB III. I know Mark Tremonti believes in God but also dislikes organized religion. Not sure about the other guys... but Alter Bridge are in no way a Christian band.

As a side note - the funny thing is, Creed were not a Christian band either. They were perceived as such because a) people thought "Higher" was about heaven, when in fact it was about lucid dreaming; and B) Scott's "Jesus pose" in the "With Arms Wide Open" video, which in fact was just him opening his arms to welcome his son into the world... not a religious thing.

I heard on KROQ that Axl really digs AB. I wonder if he'll have them open on the upcoming tour.

Really? That's pretty sweet. I'd love a GNR/AB tour. I wonder what Myles' reaction would be to meeting Axl, after presumably having heard all of Slash's thoughts on Axl.

Regarding "Isolation", I think it's a really strong track, but I'm nervous that Alter Bridge might be perceived as crappy metal rather than hard, edgy modern rock. I can't stop listening to this song though. Bring on AB III.

  9. Eh? How did what I said in anyway imply I thought it was a radio station?
Well I'm sure the OP is referring to Hannity's radio show, since he said "and I couldn't wait for a number to call in - I just heard the music and listened for a minute". (I believe people can only call into the radio show, not the FoxNews TV show; and if he was referring to the TV show, he would've said "watched" instead of "listened".) The Sean Hannity Show is a nationally-syndicated radio show, independent of FoxNews, as opposed to his TV show "Hannity" on Fox.
Sean Hannity is a joke. Hannity is a poor rip off of Limbaugh, devoid of any real entertainment, which leaves you with a bigoted talking head regurgitating political rhetoric. I regularly listen to Levine, Limbaugh, and even Beck on occasions; Hannity is a total hack, he doesn't report news, form original or unique opinions, and only serves to rile the uneducated and out-of-touch members of the Republican party.

Playing Welcome to the Jungle with a stupid off-hand remark about the "release date" is not promotion. Was Ron really on his show?

A poor rip off of Limbaugh? Please. Limbaugh is a shock jock; Hannity is just a sane man with an opinion. And no shit he doesn't "report news" - it's an opinion show. He's no better than Maddow or Olbermann on the left in that regard.

  10. Haha, stop the presses! Fox News in inaccurate reporting shocker!

FoxNews is a TV channel, not a radio station.

Haha, stop the presses! Sensationalist and unfounded bias against FoxNews shocker!
