No cover can ever be better than the original cos its a performance of an idea - it's not creative in any way - still love it tho but it not a patch on what the stones created

One question for fermanager should he back on the thread at some point.
An album of original material is mainly a process of writing studio and then mixing. Then comes part 2 issue of artwork, sleeves, booklets, etc which is probably a task in itself.
Has part 2 started yet ?
Big ask I know - thanks for all your answers so far
-
Yup suppose it easier said than done.

Great thread - nothing wrong with a bit of optimism and feel good for once. Although I come on forum daily I don't post anything usually cos I don't want any overly negative conversations about music that has filled well over half my life and made me happy.
Just one question tho why can't the legitimate/none trolling/non insulting criteria be applied to all threads?
-
Huh? Who said discussion and speculation about the future of GN'R can't happen in this thread?
Well several post with questions and opinions have been deleted
I assure you that posts with legitimate/none trolling/non insulting questions or haven't been asked several times already have not been removed.

if you really think GNR is dead then log out and jog on from here
P.S.: (yes i think the real deal is dead in 1996, some think in 1991)
GNR is dead and has been for a long, LONG time.
I come here cause it amuses me to no end that there are so many socially retarded basement dwellers obsessed with a band that peaked well over two decades ago that somehow believe their beloved messiah Axl Rose is gonna rise from the ashes and "rule the world" again despite all evidence to the contrary. Does any music fan base boast so many mentally ill/aspergersy/autistic delusional fucks as this one? I sincerely doubt it.
GNR is a part of my childhood and I cherish those memories. I would have loved for things to go differently, but hey, it's life. Axl fucked up. The end. I'll still have all those memories. And even now, every now and then there are still moments of joy that make me feel like a kid again like when I got to see Fat Axl sing Estranged a few feet away from me in a small club two years ago. That shit was magical and I'll never ever forget that moment.
But I have no illusions that the man will ever release new music or that ANYONE on the fucking planet other than the handful of delusional retards on this forum and Yarmo's forum will ever give two flaming shits about Axl Rose other than as the punchline he's turned himself into.
Even a reunion, the thing so many have been clamoring for for well over a decade would be too little too late now. A fat old man wheezing on stage barely able to sing the songs and keep up with the rest of the band that can still play. The press would crucify him. That ship has sailed. At best, it would generate some buzz for a few months but then it would be forgotten as whatever new shitty pop flavor of the month chick flashes her nips and pussy onstage.
Music has changed. It's not 1991 anymore. Enjoy the old bootlegs. Watch the old videos. Relive your youth. But there is NO future for Axl Rose or "Guns N Roses."
To quote the fat old bastard himself...."truth is the truth hurts."
U real keyboard warrior aren't u twat what the Fuk u know about autism and aspergers

It was a different world no internet no forums. Had no idea what was going on so wasn't same expectations as now. It just landed and was a great double album blew my mind. Got the blue album for my 21st birthday off friend on vinyl was expecting another AFD but liked even more at time. Happy days!!!
-
Yeah you right there are others and that list of 6 will never be added to now the moments gone no matter how good CD2 is or anything else up axls sleeve. Maybe better and twat could have come close but wrong place wrong time wrong promotion etc etc. Not that I won't enjoy them tho but still....
-
Queens of the stone age , muse, lynryd skynyrd ( I enjoying this?) don't think any of them as big tho.
Maybe not the hardest of metals but metal of some form
I just think your under rating them by a long way no offense meant.
-
Thousands ? Your glass is half empty bro mines half full. Six iconic tracks is mega for a rock band especially a proper metal band. Who else can boast that Queen, Quo, the Stones. Prob others (ZZ Top) but proper metal bands tho ? And yeah the others are more fan classics but so what that's the way it goes with any band.
-
Yeah but some of those songs are considered iconic not just by rock fans who aren't gnr fans but by complete non rock music lovers. That's how big they are. Most discos prob still play SCOM and PC

Vanity is so boring. I much prefer people who don't give a damm what they look like. As long as the guy hasn't got hygiene issues who gives a shit.
-
It's hard to appreciate now the level guns turned rock on its spoilt little head in the late eighties and completely kicked ass. I was 17 in 1987 and AFD changed the rock world. Sure now u can say this track was good or that track was bad but that irrelevant. You had to experience the thing then to realise the just how big it was.
-
Who cares what he looks like it about the music isn't it ?
-
Works for me - AFD leftovers, UYI leftovers or CD leftovers I first in queue - or new material bring it on
-
That be a good poll who would be interested in listening to the CD leftovers. I reckon it be more than a few
-
I think what Richard Nixon is trying to say is he getting fed up with the CD bashing. Ok maybe it not everyone's favourite and it hard to compete with AFD etc and that's fair enouth buts it's the over the top slating and trolling on a forum of supposed mutual fans that sometimes is a bit hard to take. If you dipped into this forum as an outsider you would think nugnr and CD were the worst thing ever released yet we look at the recent poll and we see many fans like CD as much as AFD. If you dislike an album and a band so much then move on bro's. I love all GNR albums and bands that's why I bother my arse to come on this forum. Sure everyone is entitled to an opinion but you have so much energy in life and when it's all directed in a negative manner then what's the point?
-
Breakdown a great track end of - u don't like it ur on the wrong forum
-
Great thread - thinking back to when i first heard CD is was a strange mixture of tracks. Think it an album you have to play over and over and then you hooked. I think UYI's were similar records tho. There's a lot to take in it takes a while. If u get it all first time then there's not much to get is there.

Come back to Liverpool axl I'll make sure no one throws anything at you this time
-
CD is certainly under rated. Maybe not all time classic but under rated. It's interesting music and first time up full of surprises which is what I want as a fan. It has a few great tracks on it too twat/maddy/prostitute. Love AFD and UYI but an attempt to reproduce them would be boring. Wish was released earlier with singles and videos properly pushed but it wasn't.

Your memories of purchasing the Use Your Illusion albums in 1991-24 years ago today!

I have vivid memory of hearing don't cry on mainstream radio and thinking it was cool sort of grown up version of afd. On my 21st birthday in Sept 91 my friend bought me uyi2 on vinyl and I can remember how epic it sounded. I still have it but it scratched pretty bad. Guns were so big back then singles just rolled on and on from the illusions seemed to last forever. Very special time shame it Cudnt last longer.
