  1. I would pay a pretty decent chunk of cash IF it was a blue wireless mic with a white foam top and some damage to it-like it had been picked at neurotically... Because it was...

For some reason this would be the most important piece of axl garbage I could think of or would want. Almost any mic from the UYI tour would fit this description to a tee.

I would want it even if it werent from that tour though... As long as it had all those details and was really axl's.

  2. We are talking about the first American pressing here? The one with the Banned cover from 1987? I was under the impression that people were paying at least a couple hundred bucks for them... I haven't looked into it very far though. I'm glad I stumbled on this thread, because I might have paid a bit more! I'll look a little harder when I do decide to seek it out...

  3. I'm trying to get my hands on any of the various singles that were released on vinyl. So far I have managed to find 3 of them in my searhes of local record stores. But two are the same, so I'm hoping to trade one copy off for any of the others.

    For trade I have:

    Sweet Child O' Mine 45 7" single.

The B side is a live recording if It's So Easy from a show at The Marquee in London, England on June 28, 1987.

A couple of reasons I think this record is cool:

The live recording was done before the release of Appetite for Destruction and so Guns N Roses was not at all a well known band yet; especially in England. Despite it being a novel act the crowd heard on the recording is chanting and generally flipping the fuck out in response to what they were seeing. I just think it's awesome how this unknown band was obviously just knocking these kids dead.

The recording quality of the live track is excellent and really captures the energy of the show. You can really feel the room as you listen to it. It's raw and just comes off as very "real" for lack of a better description.

I would never trade this one away if I didn't have a double of it. I'm not totally sure if this record came with a cover originally, but both of the copies I found were just in a white paper insert and plastic sleeve. Both of my copies are in excellent condition. No scratches or damage to any of it.

I'm looking for any other GNR vinyl single or other release EXCEPT The german 12" single with Shadow of your love, Move to the City, its so easy, and Mr. Brownstone. I already have a copy of this one.

I also need the spagetthi incident as well as any first american pressings of any release. I only plan to collect vinyl, but I might consider a cassette or other random collectable item too!

Let me know if you are interested!

  4. I don't think you could pick a song that is a better example of Matt being a better choice than Steven. Steven had a sort if 'just off the mark' feel that made things feel a little 'funk' for lack of a better term... This is why he is perfect for rocket queen and mr. Brownstone (i think those examples were already mentioned) and steven would have NAILED songs like bad apples or locomotive in his prime... But YCBM, perfect crime, etc? Give me a the guy who is almost punching a hole in the drums with each dead on beat. That's Matt.

  5. Sure here ya go: low quality thoughhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br2hB4xjVeoLoved both versions

Thanks! I guess I wasn't finding it because I was using the mobile version of youtube as well as one via a youtube app for an apple TV (probably the reason I'm not able to play the video I see you posted... I'll switch to my PC and check it out though!) The closest I could come up with was:

It usually just bugs me when people clog up youtube with stuff like this, but I do find this fun. Even better is with windows media player you can increase the speed of your songs without changing the pitch... It's really hard to go back to the normal tempo after doing this for a while. You start figuring out what you could be doing with the time you'd save as well as wanting to climb into the MP3 and slap the singer "SPIT IT THE FUCK OUT!"

Incidentally, this is a great function for listening to slayer; but that's for another forum.

  6. With a misfired synapse

    with a bent configuration

I'll hold the line while you gasp for breath

    Yep, that's a good one!

I'm dying to just pollute my own thread with all of my own favourites, but that'd destroy the point I guess. I'm betting that as with the above line people are going to point out shit I hadn't taken particular notice of before.

I'm brand new to this forum and kind of loving being able to geek out like this btw. It'll take some of the pressure of my girlfriend who couldn't give less of a shit about Guns N Roses. She tries to act interested... When she is in a good mood.

    One last thing,

Nobody gets to use "with your bitch slap ra..." cuz it's too obvious. So I have decided.

Actually, now I'm interested in whether or not anybody was gunna say that.

  7. What are your favourite lyrics/lines in their songs?

At the time of posting this I am really liking the delivery and clever writing in Bad Apples:

"I've got a headache like a mother twice the price of my thrills"

    And

"now we're down in the deep end where they'd love to watch you drown

I said your laundry could use washing, we'll hang it up all over town

Cuz Hollywood's like a dryer, and we're down on sunset strip

And you'll be sucking down the clorox 'till your life's so nice and crisp"

Also, Rocket Queen has some good double meanings all lined up nicely:

"i can turn on anyone just like I turned on you

Ive got a tongue like a razor, a sweet switch blade knife"

    And

"And if you turn me on to anything, you better turn me on tonight"

I hope I got those right...

  8. I'm a huge fan of Axl's work, but COME ON! It takes listening to only a few of his interviews to see a pattern of general fuck headedness in him. I'm sure he has a real sweet side, but in general, the guy has a while lot of dick coming out of his mouth.

That being said, he wouldn't be nearly as interesting nor would he be half the artist if he wasn't how he is.

  9. Welcome to the forum.

Did you check the official site? They have all the videos up but I'm not sure if the version ur looking for is on - I believe that one was released overseas.

Yep, I checked the site and they only have the standard version. I'm in Canada and when those videos were first relesed they'd appear on Much Music (Canadian MTV) and it was close to a 50/50 chance which one you'd get. I always liked the other version better. It just had more going on in general and really captured the hectic nature of the song. I think so anyways.

Both versions of that video kill me though. They crack me up. Couldn't really be more appropriate!

I could be wrong, but my memory of that video has Slash so tangled up in tape he gets flipped completely upside down; hanging in the tangleand messy disaster that was the tape, his hair, and his life. My memory is admittedly hazy though since I was probably 13 the last time I saw it.

  10. I haven't seen it for years and can't seem to find it on youtube, but there are at least two versions of the Garden Of Eden music video and I can't find the one with the lyrics and bouncing ball running across the bottom of the screen and the band tangled up in magnetic tape (at least these are what I remember as differences from the standard version). Anyone know where I can find it?

By the way, this is my first post... Hopefully this isn't a stupid location of the forum for this topic...

Also, if you wanna know what I think about this common issue, here it goes:

I like Chinese Democracy but I don't consider it a GNR album. I generally refer to the band who made that recird as axl's response to Slash's Snakepit: Axl's Armpit.

Again, I like the record for the most part, but it doesn't compare to the 80s and early 90s band of the same name. I'm also not some half assed fan who thinks Appetite blows everything else out of the water. I love all GNR: from Live?! To the illusions, and to some degree spaghetti incident. I mean this to an extent that I don't think any one record is crazy superior to the others. Tbh, UYI I and Appetite are neck in neck as my favs, but at times Lies or UYI II win the battle for me.
