  1. DJ sucks. I don't even want Slash back in the band because he sucks too. But DJ is a shit player and a poser. Replacing Robin Finck with this Hot Topic idiot, in my opinion, was a mistake. But it's Axl's band--if he wants to hear "Sweet Child" wildly fucked up before he starts singing, he's allowed. What do I know?

Somebody tell Axl that DJ is in a band with Nikki who is in a band with Vince Neil. Has this been kept from Axl? Maybe. Somebody slip him a note. It could work.

  2. I don't get it. This isn't the 90s when a small minority of fans all go out to buy Believe in Me or Pawn Shop Guitars. if anyone feels like GN'R is a stepping stone to amazing solo success, they're out of their mind. I never heard of Bumblefoot before GN'R. Don't like shredder music, don't think he's losing money here.

That said, I like Bumblefoot. If Axl insists on a shredder, I want him. He's cool, honest, has a lot of fun. One of the more vocal members of a secretive band.

  3. Question: Do you feel you're at a disadvantage having all of this information on GN'R shows within seconds?

I mean, most people that go to these shows don't give a shit what the set list was the night before. I'd love for them to change it up but what difference does it make? I'm just looking at set lists and YouTube videos. The people that saw the Illusion tours didn't have the luxury--they had no idea if "Perfect Crime" was played the night before, thus they didn't feel cheated.

Which brings me to my next point:

Seems like the party line is "Axl sounds like shit." But if you were in the audience, physically experiencing the performance, would you hear the clams? Seems unfair to watch cell phone videos and make blanket statements on how good or shitty the band is. I enjoy seeing clips on what's going on at these shows, but it's a weird culture where instead of watching the band we hold up our phones so that other people can have second-hand experiences and then judge as if they were there. Understandable, but weird.

I guess what I mean to say is, don't lie. If you were there you'd be pumped. It's Axl Rose! I'm so old I remember the days were there was no Axl Rose--anywhere!

  4. It's always going to be an object of fascination/ridicule among music fans. The last big expensive rock album. Gone are the days where record companies fork over that kind of money to fussy perfectionists. If we don't see a followup, don't blame Axl--blame an industry in its death throes not having the resources to pump more money into the project.

I'd love to see the music get the props it deserves. It's a great album. Sadly, once the hype faded and the mystery was gone, the world moved on.
