1. In all, most people who prefer god- awful shite like Velvet Revolver to a band like Queens Of The Stone Age really shouldnt be entitled to an opinion in music.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    shut the fuck up :fuckyou:

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Your good at this, arent you? Have you played this game before?

    Ill play it with you.

Have you even learnt how to smoke yet? I think its time for you to go back to class. etc etc

    Your turn...

  2. The chorus went something like "be my lover" many times. It features more than one female singers, and there is a lot of guitar, some nice rhythm riffs and two solos, I think. Pretty light track, but great. I think it had some rakes/arpeggios during the verses. It's pretty popular.

It's not the Ronnettes (I think it was) song, "Be My Lover", but a different one.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Just how the fuck do you expect people to know what song your on about?

We need a little more detail than "a song about love, female vocals, 2 guitar solos", because it hardly narrows it down does it?

Im in a twatty mood today.......

  3. I loved Waking The Fallen, I really did, but City Of Evil is so bad I laughed all the way through listening to it for the first time and took it back the next day.

People with talent like those guys should be threatened with "the snip" when they make music that in reality they could do much better.

    Lazy fucks.

  4. Out of Exile. This year has been a better year for music than in recent years.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    A contradiction in terms, surely?

Oh, and Strapping Young Lad - Alien.

Failing that, Dream Theater - Octavarium, or Nile - Annihilation Of The Wicked.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You’d seriously rate Alien as the best album of the year so far?

What’s wrong with Meshuggah's Catch 33? Positively the better album than Strapping Young Lads contribution.

Id go with Frances the Mute personally....oh god! The controversy!

  5. Its been a while since ive been on here.

with the exeption of Genesis (nice guy) and Mr.fukaji (who, although i dont like personally, doesnt deserve to be labelled like the rest of you) you people really are a waste of time.

  6. Rain down,

come on rain down on me

    from a great hight

    from a great hight

"thats it sir, your leaving" the crackle of pig skin

the dust and, the screaming the yuppies networking

    the panic the vomit

    the panic the vomit

god loves his children god loves his children yeah!

  7. ive talked about them before but nobody seems to care, its to be expected from a GnR related forum though. Absolute fucking genious, TMV.

    The Mars Volta

    Radiohead

    The Jimi Hendrix Experience

    At The Drive-In

    Pink Floyd

    RHCP

    Led Zeppelin

    Faith No More

    Jeff Buckley

    Muse

Thats all i seem to listen to nowadays, everything else is, well, to be frank, not as good.

every once in a while i have to listen to Pantera, Queens Of The Stone Age and A Perfect Circle to clear my head, i dont know why. i guess some musical preferences from your younger years never die.

  8. OK Computer deserved to win that poll, all those that disagree should actually take the time out to listen to that album.

Although KID A and Hail To The Thief are my preferred choices.

I wasnt happy at Muse not being in there, the position of Jeff Buckleys "Grace" or Jimi Hendrix's "Are You Experienced" though.

  9. i got hold of this not long ago, wasnt dissapointed, its a brilliant album.

came in the post with a wolf eyes album with is just as frightening/fantastic.

Which Wolf Eyes album? Burned Mind?

Edit: Also, people claiming that The Mars Volta will be the best band of all-time are people who just discovered a great indie band. Sorry, but The Mars Volta will never be the best band of all-time and this is coming from the guy who first mentioned them on this board.

"theyll never be the best band of all time. this is coming from ME. the final fuckin voice of the music world."

like i said, they will be in my book. the Big Book of personal opinions.

  10. ive stopped coming on the mygnr.com forum as much since i got into The Mars Volta. im not taking the piss, but if they live long enough to make another 3 albums that are as consistent as De-Loused and Frances then theyll go down in my book as the best band of all time. at the moment the Mars Volta my favourite and most listened to band.

  11. its not one of those albums you can really recommend to people, because its not to everyones taste. try and see if you can download some of the stuff from the same album (the other material theyve done is wank). just dont buy it just cos i think its good, your one of the only cool people on here, i wouldnt like to dissapoint you.

  12. thets go for something random..okay ill pick something from my collection and...its Avenged Sevenfold "Waking The Fallen". ah, well then, here goes.

ive gotta be honest with you here, this really is a spectacular album if your really into metal and dont mind a bit of cheese every now and then. the band actually say that GnR is one of there main influences (dont buy the album on the basis that they might sound like GnR though, because they dont). they have 2 rather good shredders on the band and a fucking machine of a drummer and even an Axl Rose meets emo/screamo of a vocalist, and actually im surprised that they arent as much of a well known name in the UK yet. there not afraid to make each song as epic as possible, with a lot of the tracks spanning over the 5 minute mark.

if your a follower of new wave american metal, then Avenged Sevenfold, if you havent heard them yet, are the band youve been waiting for. Killswitch Engage, Eighteen Visions (bag of wank) Shadows Fall, God Forbid, Chimaira and all the rest, Avenged Sevenfold take the piss out of all of them in terms of sheer technical ability (and by far the most bearable to listen to aswell, in my opinion)

    1. Waking The Fallen 1:44 - a haunting call to arms of an intro. also a warning for the cheese that is about to come -

im not going to rate an intro that lasts for 1:44

    2. Unholy Confessions 4:45 - the single of the album. due to the obvious time limit this track will have had placed upon it because of its planned release as a single, it doesnt really show off the capability of this band to make an epic song. however, probably the best the band can do in the time limit to show what they can do none the less -

    7.8

    3. Chapter Four 5:44 - "jesus, listen to those fucking drums joe!" the words of a freind (and bloody good drummer) of mine whilst listening to the intro of this song for the first time. although a short lived one, this is the first epic of the album. once you take this band seriously, the music is fucking great. and although cheesy, its actually how unafraid this band are of taking their music seriously that makes it all so damn good. and all of us on here can see past what others would call cheesey and appreciate the music for what it is, or else none of us would be on this GnR forum.

    8.4

    4. Remenissions 6:08 - it astounds me how this band can turn a metal crunch up into a part ballad then back into a crunch up all in the same song, and above all, do it tastefully . a beautiful outro, which then in turn goes back into a crunch up. were beggining to see how brilliantly this band can be at turning 6:08 secs of noise into something epic.

    8.7

    5. Desecrate Through Reverance 5:40 - this really is one fucking Frankenstein monster of a song. it sounds like 5 songs worth of material have been pushed and molded together until they made sense. theres no questioning this bands imagination and technical prowess. thats not saying its the best song on the album, however.

    8.2

    6. Eternal Rest 5:14 - for all you guitarists out there, the intro solo for this song will put all of you Vai wannabe's to shame, "put the guitar down lad, just put it down" i said to myself. the riff is something that should bring out the sexual animal in you too. seeing past the cheese, this song has a fuckin awesome breakdown in it, its really powerful. a fuckin cracker of a song.

    8.8

    7. Second Heartbeat 7:02 - this is where these boys really fuckin give it some cock and balls. this band can write a 7:02 minute song, thats fair enough, but the beauty is that these long songs actually keep you on your toes, as theres fuckin stupid amounts of ideas flying through each of them. this band have more musical ability than all the rest of those Emo hooray for tolerance!s put together.

    8.9

    8. Radiant Eclipse 6:11 - Jesus, im beggining to sound like im sponsered by these guys. seriously though, this is my personal favourite from the album. its the chorus. this guy can fucking sing like a mother fucker ill tell you that much, when he stops fucking sreaming.

9.1 (its a personal favourite, not the best)

    9. I Wont See You Tonight, Pt 1 9:00 - here you are folks, the Dont Cry of the album, well, if Dont Cry was a new wave american metal song that is. its got a Slash meets Dimebag (Floods) solo, piano's and everything. really, past the cheese, if you just take a listen without laughing, this really is a moving song. im listening to it right now. jesus, its fuckin amazing!

    9.7

    10. I Wont See You Tonight, Pt 2 4:46 - heard Pantera's Suicide Note Pt 1 and 2? same thing really. this is where they get anry after the ballad. it gets pretty fuckin heavy, and its an aquired taste, so dont take note and qoute me on my rating for this "part 2" of the song.

    8.2

    11. Clairvoyant Disease 5:01 - this is getting on top of me, im getting too much avenged sevenfold, not enough nicotine and not enough sleep. sure, cool song, whatever.

    8.9

    12. And All Things Will End 7:40 - a great way to end the album. fuckin fantastic.

    9.4

Avenged Sevenfold have done more for me than Metallica ever did. go on, quote me.

by the way, ive rated the album 9.4. that rating comes from a new wave american metal point of view, not an all round view, because it would just be stupid to rate a Metal band from a Popular music point of view.

if you have the ablility to see past cheesy stuff (and you wouldnt be into GnR if you couldnt) and you like your new wave metal (no, that isnt Nu-Metal, thats a different ball game), then i couldnt recommend this album any more. because from the Emo screamos to the Shredders to those that just want something different to most of the other shite metal bands out there today, it has something for everybody.

just dont come crying to me when your complaining that it doesnt sound like the Rolling Stones or Guns N Roses, you ignorant bastards.

  13. c'mon lets see what guitars you lot have coz its always nice to have a look see.

    these are 3 of mine:

    axes.jpg

Left: epiphone black beauty, Centre: epiphone gothic thunderbird bass, Right: Ibanez RGR 320DX (limited reverse headstock model and double sharksfin inlays)

i left my other two at home in Chester (coz im at uni at the mo) which is another epi les paul in white and a fender DG3 acoustic that iv had for years

get your axe out for the lads!

is that an Ibanez RG? if so which RG model is it. and does it have a pearl inlay down the side of the neck?

  14. Hits and Illusions.

Yet its the same as '91.

UYI II big sister is ALWAYS better than UYI little sister.

UYI II is ranked above I. JUST LIKE 1991!

Eventhough it has bloated Knockin on Heaven's Door and neophyte vengeance rockers against "asshole journalists" like UFO theory about Bush having green alien in kitty's cage.

OR Spinal Tap-like end of Breakdown. Axl is Nigel writing beautiful 13 minute piano ballads conveying emotional depth spectrum of what amount of oral suck he gets from groupies.

Yes Axl, they planned to FUCK you from the beginning.

All the journalists (in '87) listened to AfD and made blood pack to rape you with literary dosage of propaganda and its extremist twin, lies and publish such fraudulent claims in mag to 'antagonize' you. :o:lol:

I wish you'd stop writing like a complete tit.

  15. an absolute bag of wank.

    as are HIM.

only middle-class 13yr olds who walk around with baggy black pants on and think that they have something wrong with their lives could possibly appreciate that talentless shite.

thats the beginning, and the end of the story.

    thats my opinion.

  16. where's DIMEBAG.....just because he's dead doesn't mean you can leave him out of the list......he's awesome

theres a few on there that are dead. to be honest there wasnt enough room for all the great guitarists, i also missed out Satriani and Vai for instance. its not that i dont like those guitarists (Pantera are one of my all time favourite bands) its just that i wrote down the guitarists that first sprang to mind.

    sorry Dimebag......

ok everyone, to fuck this poll off for a second.

if you could pick any two guitarists, alive or dead, to be in a band with, who would you go for?

id go for Hendrix and Page (like you didnt see that one coming).

i dont think theyd work together very well, but fuck itd be fun to watch. Santana is too cool to work with anybody else, and Stevie Ray, well hes a machine all one his own, so i decided against those two.
