@Jungle-Natives That was a really shitty thing they did to you but i'm pleased you are able to handle the situation and move on. Do you think he (Steven) is serious about this new idea for a book? or was it just a throw away remark that has been picked up and grown into gossip?

    Thanks Jan. Me too.

Well, if he WAS serious, I don't know if he is still. There isn't much to work with on that site they set up.

Holy shit! i just read that. When was that article done? Have you been to court?

I'm female btw :P SuperGod is my forum title like your one is 'newbie'

What podcast were you referring to in your earlier post?

Oh, sorry, Jan! I was referring to the Jungle Natives GnR Podcast my friend Christina and I recorded a few episodes of.

     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKpTzAJ0fv4&t=531s

Yeah, it’s pretty messed up. Every now and then I’ll just get that pang of loss. It never went to court. They did start paying me but nowhere near what Lawrence Spagnola made off of my work.

In fact, I received a small check recently. A couple years back there was a discrepancy with the payments and I reached out to Steven’s wife. To my surprise she was very gracious and got it all worked out immediately. That’s when I felt maybe there’s really no bad blood - it was just the people around us.

A few months ago a friend of mine saw Steve somewhere and put him on the phone with me. He was super nice. He said I was still one of his ten favorite people, so I think I can say we’re good. It is what it is.

  3. Because they tried getting him to work with a number of writers before me and it didn't work out. Steve would run off to party and leave them wondering where he went.

They not only needed someone who already knew the band's history thoroughly, they needed someone he could hang with without having to disappear.

I've said it before, and I'll say it to my grave, Lawrence Spagnola is a thief.

I believe too that the "Famous Last Words" interview was aired before the 1990 awards show. However, I don't think it was related in any way with the show, because GnR weren't nominated that year and they didn't perform or present anything:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990_MTV_Video_Music_Awards

It wouldn't make sense for parts of the interview to be aired during that show.

Okay I'm going to be admittedly speculative, remember that by 1990 GNR were bigger than ever and the lack of activity made the public even hungrier. So an Axl interview would make perfect sense to air witn the MTV Awards, because it was an exclusive band update. It would certainly be a ratings boost, and fill the void of not having the world's most popular rock group featured in any other capacity.

Well, from a historian's perspective, yes. She did say that Steven had his stroke when he was in a coma after ODing on heroin -- when most GNR fans, including the internet, think it was  cocaine-induced stroke. That got me thinking. What's the truth? In terms of outside-the-box shit, well, some of it I won't say because, honestly, I don't like to get into the gossip or revisionist history unless I can talk to both sides, or at the very least, talk to several people -- so yes, there's some stuff about Slash, but read the book for more. What got me thinking? Well, Deanna is very critical of Steven and VHI for Celebrity Rehab. Steven is not. I also wonder about Dr. Drew...like...is he a good dude or was he exploiting the addicts on his show? I just don't know. From a fan perspective, I REALLY want this footage Deanna alluded to where she watched the MTV Music Awards in 1990 and Axl said Steven was fired. I never knew about this. Weird. Wanna see it now...

It was a speedball, a combination of coke and heroin.

Deanna has taken Axl's announcement out of context. She makes it sound like Axl announced to the world live on the MTV Awards that Steven was fired, when in fact it was a feature interview with Axl and his backyard that was aired during the awards ceremony, it's easy to find, it's called 'famous last words', he said some negative things but I don't recall if he actually said Steve was out of the band officially on it.

So cool! And this is true. He's a carbon copy of his mom

Omg I had forgotten about the existence of that place

I have no idea about th status of other forums since I barely have time to visit even this one.

BTW, aren't you from that duo of people who has a podcast with that username on YouTube?

Yes, that's me. But my partner bailed out after only 4 episodes :(

    Awesome!

Some people say he has brain damage and that he's like a child. I call bullshit on all that. To me he sounds much more coherent than a certain singer and also a guy that is honest with what he wants in life.

So good to know his because there are lengthy threads in this forum with people trying to destroy him by saying his mom should have not written a book and use GNR on it.

I want to read it now. Thanks for the synopsis!!

Oh man, I hope it isn't as bad as those clowns over at gnrtruth. I've been enjoying this forum lately. Over there, you have the typical hierarchy of pretentious fans who believe their word gospel. I was debating a point with a member who happened to be a woman and one of the admins attacked me and called me a misogynist. Okay, psycho pants. Thankfully, her hypocritical nature allows her to give a pass to the band for some of their blatantly misogynistic lyrics. Of course here today had the same issues, but they're not very active anymore, are they?

Oh but the point I was making is if you are so up in a bands shit that you are BRUTALLY criticizing them or associated persons,  it's just not healthy.

Cos he's a dirty hoarder  He's probably the first hoarder in the history of mygnrforum to prove he has what he says he has with no drama whatsoever, got to give him credit for that.

I'm pretty sure the forum rules now dictate that we call him a dick for not sharing? Can a mod confirm? :P

Oh shoot, sorry. I only brought it up because someone said it wasn't recorded. And I thought you'd appreciate the screenshots. But that's all it is, them sitting there talking. It's long, & I don't have time to do all that. Besides, I don't want to be concerned about pissing somebody off or the legality of it all.

    Peace :)

    who's frank?

Yay, something I can chime in on. I wrote the episode that you are quoting, it's not on her Vimeo Channel and I'm curious if someone reached out to her and asked her to withdraw it. I also wrote Early Interview, This ain't Detroit, and Here today gone Tool. I was so lucky to collaborate with Lena, she's such an amazing talent and I hope she is still doing what she loves.
