Wouldn’t it be cool if Axl could read a chapter or two from the book in the milddle of the setlist to keep the setlist fresch?

Hoping sidman and gambit could have eric dover on to be interviewed.
That would be greate. Eric is a greate singer and there are more conections to the gnr family if you dig throug the history.
He has playd with Teddy zigzag in glamnation and did some south amerca gigs with gilby Clark and they made a coverrecord under the name halloween jack.
I remember reading something similar about the writingproces in the jellyfish biography that came out last year. That book allso shed some light on the story when somebody pretendent to be the leadsinger of jellyfish auditionen for slash and how he was revealed to be a fraud.
The record he released with imperial drag after leaving snakepit is one of my all time favorites.

Very interesting. No promises, but Roxana said she will try to get me the lead singer of the Maniac Street Preachers for an episode with her co-hosting.
That would be fantastic!

Thanks! I do announce guests for that reason alone. I kinda hate it because you never know if someone will cancel, but I do wait for double confirmation in emails. You can follow my FB/Twitter for those announcements, both @TheAFDShow.
FYI Next guest will be Roxana Shirazi, author of The Last Living Slut: Born in Iran, Bred Backstage. LOTS of GnR connections there.
AND I just got a "yes" from Snake Sabo. So hopefully that happens...
Any plans on trying to get Eric Dover on the show to get some insight on the first line up?

I was thinking the same but it was not what i expected it to be.

STOP with the "Izzy propaganda"
all these threads about him are propaganda.
Izzy is not part of GN'R. Let's move this thread from the main section to "the jungle".
As the french says " sans izzy il n'y aurait pas de fusils n roses"

I think its weird that they play any of the new songs, most people want to here the classics.

I hope there is no more new musicfrom them.

Thanks for that.
Blind Melon are one of my favourite bands, and one of those bands I've teetered on going to GnR geek levels with. I've always found it interesting, that Axl has more than once referenced Hoon covering Don't Cry - however I'm not sure how he would have heard it, GNR played it before AFD was released but Hoon wouldn't have been around to watch these shows during that time as he was Indiana based. From reading of Blind Melon he wasn't mates with Axl & Izzy back in Indiana either. So makes me think Axl is just adding a bit of myth and stuff in his way of supporting a young dude from his hometown starting out.
It's all irrellavant anyways and doesn't matter. Shannon Hoon was an awesome singer, great lyrics too, and a great element to great band.
No problem.
I kind of re discovered blind melon in the late 90's or early 00 long after Shannon had passed.
I was working in a record store and found Soup.
I remembered that liked the no rain video and I saw a few minutes of their Woodstock gig on Pay-TV in the early 90's but Soup opened my eyes to the band.
Soup is one of those albums that I still enjoy after hundreds of listening and I fell that I can still discover something new in it.

Is there any evidence or recordings of Blind Melon / Shannon's version of Don't Cry? I'm assuming he was covering it before meeting the Blind Melon guys.
I remember their beeing some liveshow frome some Indiana coverband gig with Shannon hoon on youtube that was pre blind melon but I don't recal any cover version of dont cry.
Shannon passing away at such a young age is a thing, he had a unique tallent and great quality as an artist.

There was a Swedish article around the time of the reunion announcement about some Swedish person claiming that he is going to make a documentary about the reunion.
http://vlt.se/kulturnoje/1.3408360-vasterasare-vill-gora-guns-n-roses-film
I doubt there is any truth to that and there are some wrong facts in the article.
Anyway... I cant remember there being any post about it here on the forum, but I don't read every topic.
