  1. Good interview.  It's interesting how Duff gave Steven a lot of praise but he's not involved more on this tour.  He kind of down played Izzy a but but overall I was ok with his comments.  You can tell that Jericho was told not to ask anything personal about how the reunion happened and why the original group couldn't reform etc.

To me, this lineup isn't much different than the 92-93 lineup with Gilby, Matt, and the horn player/backup singers.  Fortus is just the latest gilby.  I like Matt better than the new drummer, but they are both replacements.  Now they have a DJ instead of Tracy and Roberta.

It felt way different when I was actually there.  Again just my feeling.  We are talking about Slash and Duff that had a huge hand in writing those classic songs playing songs that they had no part of or connection to.

I am with you man. This reunion isn't at great as it could be. Too many CD songs.. Not a fan of Frank Melissa or Fortus. Melissa because she is useless and looks ridiculous up there. Frank and Fortus because of their twists on the songs. Although Frank has improved. Still can't stand Fortus. Even though it Eddie's kid in Van Halen and not MA, he still played the songs they way they were written.

It is all bittersweet. It is great to have Guns N' Roses "back" but it could and should be better.

All that said, they seem to sound and feel more like the Classic Guns now than they did in April. Looking forward to tonight and not trying to put much thought into that stuff. It is what it is at this point and I am more excited than I was the last week before Vegas. The wind was knocked out of my sails once I saw the lineup at the Troubador.

Things have improved significantly since April. Hopefully it continues. Gonna have a kick ass time tonight an focus on the positive.. Just hoping for 3 CD songs instead of 4. I'll watch CD and go take a piss for the other two.

Hoping for some Popcorn and Out Ta Get Me too!!!!!! \m/

Really great post.  I tried to go in with that attitude but I just couldn't let it go.  In my opinion it seemed like there was zero chemistry between the guys.  The songs sounded fine but it still didn't feel like Guns N' Roses.  It's on me for sure, because in my world Guns in 5 guys not 3 and weird looking backing musicians and DJ's?  Is Izzy and Steven/Matt that important for the sound?  Yes for sure but for me it was about the lack of chemistry.  It still didn't feel like Guns to me.  We are posting on a Guns message board because we are die hard fans.  Out of 55,000 people how many are die hards are at this show?  15,000?  Most just want to see a dude in a top hat play with the red head guy again.  I want to see Guns N' Roses again which will likely never happen.  I saw Axl's solo band three times and loved two of the times and the third time I was done because I treated it as his solo band.  I'm done with this lineup as well.  I always thought I was an Axl fan first and would love the songs no matter what.  It turns out I was a Guns N' Roses fan afterall.

  4. Frank on Jungle is as close to Steven as we are going to get.  Frank plays a lot like Steven even the tempo of the songs not on record but how Steven played live.  Look at VMA 88 Jungle and how Frank plays Jungle.  Very similar.  I think Frank kicks ass!  The only problem with Frank is that he isn't Steven.  Sorum was fine as well.  But like most I would have liked to see Steven back full time with Izzy.

  5. I'm a drummer and Steven is one of my biggest  influences.  The thing with Adler is his unique ability for accenting and groove.  For example on the breakdown on Its so easy.  I see you standing there  you think your so cool. The way Steven hits his kick drummer to what Duff and izzy are playing on that part.  As a person Steven is a nut but his parts are very creative.

Frank is is a good drummer but again he is playing someone else's parts and trying to add his style.  He is ghost noting all over the place and shuffling more than what Adler played.  That's why it sounds off to us.  But didn't sorums tale on Stevens parts seem off to you during the illusion tour?

Watch Mtv awards 1988 and then listen to live era welcome to the jungle with sorum.  Then listen to Frank on the live democracy play Jungle.  His time and swing are more Steven then Matt but he is still putting his own spin on things.

  6. I actually am really excited to hear slash and Duff play Chinese songs.  It will be really cool to see what they bring to those songs.  It kind of makes it feel like everyone is all in for the greater good of the band.  Playing Chinese songs makes this less about nostalgia and more about what the future holds for Guns as a whole.  Out of all the Chinese songs I would love to hear them play Street of Dreams.
