it's just so odd! They've been playing Arenas, not selling them out for years now then someone seems to have gone "hey, do Wembley Stadium guys, and triple your ticket prices" out of the blue! I don't get that one at all!

I saw somewhere that promoters now are having a hard time guessing what venues to book. The Def Leppard/Journey tour did a few stadium gigs and sold really well, which was a surprise to me as that seems like more of an arena package.

To be fair, it would be easy enough for them to call in Frank or Matt if Adler went off the rails and became a liability. Other thing is with the amount of money they are pulling in, they could take a big chunk of his share and use it on babysitters to keep an eye on him.

Or they could just avoid the liability altogether and keep the reliable choice as the #1.

Some of you people are crazy. You should be happy they are allowing him to be a guest on two songs, stop acting like he is owed something,

Boo-hoo.  "Standard" LOL.  GnR's "standard" show blows any show by most any band out of the water.  Other than a few people on these boards I'd say that 99.999% of people at each show nightly are thrilled with the show and the set.

Unless you go to more that 7-10 shows you really can't bitch about the set.  *Granted the crew might get sick of it LOL.

not saying it isn't that, I'm talking to the people expecting some big surprise and are no doubt going to be mad when it doesn't happen.

You seem to have a misconception of what being an official member of the band is, and what being in the partnership is.

Slash & Duff werent in the band for some time, and in their place were other musicians. Just like how Josh Klinghoffer is an official member of Red Hot Chili Peppers (filling the roll as lead guitarist after longtime guitarist John Frusciante left the band), Fortus is an official member of the band, as was Buckethead, Robin Finck, Tommy Stinson, Brain, (and Paul Huge and the keyboardists)

They dont have a say in what goes on with the album after they record any songs (just like how Klinghoffer likely doesn't have a say in Red Hot Chili Peppers releases, whether or not if he is an essential part of the band).

Slash and Duff remained in the partnership, while not staying in the band. Izzy will likely never be in the partnership again even if he comes back because he signed it off (and because he has a repupation among the band of dissapearing after a while, so they likely wouldnt risk him joining the partnership after rejoining the band, then taking off after a couple of months) Thats not to say he isnt/wasnt important.

And thats not to say any one is equal or unequal to any other in terms of importance, its just that they are part of the band.

Something similar happened with KISS, even after Peter and Ace left in the 80's they remained partners for a few years. Peter was bought out, not sure when or how Ace turned his share over. All replacement members, including Ace and Peter during the reunion, were hired hands of KISS Co.

    The slaxl theory..

You guys seem to forget there was always tendion between them. They were never BFF. They both spoke about that.

After all that has been said after slash left gnr - I don't buy that they are on very good terms now. They have just made peace, amends so that this reunion could work out.

This is what I've always said, Axl and Slash never really got along in the first place.

I am new here, but have been a fan since the '91 riot show in St. Louis. I saw them live 4 times in 1991-1992.

I totally get both sides of the set list argument. My problem with it is that for the last couple shows, they haven't played Sorry or Catcher, and they didn't replace it with another song, so essentially, they've shortened the show.

When you cut out the fluff, they are really only playing about 18 GNR songs.  Also, way too many covers for a band with this great of a catalogue.

Either way, I will be there on Sunday night in New Orleans and I am beyond excited to see the greatest band of all time in concert once again.

it's the same length they started with in Detroit, the extra stuff has been the exception.

I love reading stuff like this. At the end he said it's designed to be scaled down. I hope they continue it into U.S. arenas sometime next year.

get rid of big screens on the sides and it would probably fit an arena. I was at the Bell Centre shortly after the show in Toronto and that was my guess while I was there.

Just need to make sure they don't make the same mistake Kiss did during their reunion, they toured for like two years and hit literally every single no name town you can think of. When they came back with Psycho Cyrus just a year later most of the general public didn't give a shit anymore.
