Ideally, Steven would have got the help he needed and not been fired, Izzy would have stayed on, the remnants wouldn't have crumbled, and we'd have 10 new albums to listen to.
I think we can all agree on that.
1 hour ago, DieselDaisy said:There is a new brand of fan, epitomised by Bridge School, which has developed recently haha; they are neither reunionistes, since they support Frank/Richard, nor nugnr supporters, since they believe this Slash, Duff, Axl rapprochement is the greatest thing to have ever happened to Guns N' Roses. They perhaps should be called ''hybridistes''.
I, like a lot of fans, support whatever group is out there, including the Bumblefoot/Ashba group. They put on good shows and I'm glad they were immortalized on DVD, at the very least, I would have loved to hear original material from that incarnation. I support whoever is in the band.
Now back on topic.

Again ignorant...be done with this I am.
Typical passive aggressive post from you, indy. If you have nothing to add but passive agressive jabs, sarcasm, and insults, then maybe you should stick to reading the forums.

Huh? I'm actually one that isn't looking for an explanation, I don't feel any are necessary....but to say it is irrelevant is ignorant.

The topic of why Izzy isn't in the band has been discussed ad nauseum. It's a hot topic, but it is tabloid bullshit. If Richard Fortus left Izzy might be offered a spot, like Slash and Duff were offered a spot when DJ and Tommy left.
Whether Izzy Stradlin wishes to be in the band or not is, sadly, irrelevant.
Boom.

It doesn't seem to be as simple as Izzy left now there's no spot for him. Read the rest of the forum of you can't figure it out.
I know you and the other reunistas are looking for explanations as to why you aren't getting your way, so you have to resort to conspiracy theories, but it really is that simple.

Your posts are irrelevant as this is obviously a relevant issue.
How is my post irrelevant?

they all left the band.
After they all left, Axl kept the band going by finding new musicians. Recently, the lead guitar and bass players left, and Axl brought some people in from the classic line-up to replace them. So, whether Izzy wants to be there or not is irrelevant.

Except you don't know Izzy didn't want to be there. So no boom, no end of story.
Actually, we do know Izzy didn't want to be there. He left the band in 1991. Boom. End of story.

Newsflash.. They aren't selling out Stadiums because people have been chomping at the bit for 23 years to see Slash play CD songs..
This is true, there's definitely a huge nostalgia factor, just as there was with NuGnR. Fans wanted to hear Axl sing. The most popular reason for the dismissal of Chinese Democracy was that Slash wasn't involved.
I get what your saying, but "fans" of the band have either accepted the evolution of the band or been lobbying for a reunion. In a way, they have been clamouring to hear Slash play CD songs. The casual fan wants to hear the radio hits and shouldn't be catered to exclusively, meaning that, GNR ignores 3/4 of its catalogue so as not to bore them. Conversely, they might hear a song that they'd never heard, or really paid attention to, and then seek it out later.

I am always going to prefer Matt and Gilby over Frank and Richard because they were members of the old band, and in the case of Matt Sorum, played on Use Your Illusion.
It's not fair to insist that current members have no integrity because they didn't lobby for your preference, which you are welcome to.

And if Gilby, Matt, Adler or Izzy were back in the band people would complain about Richard and Frank not being in
Exactly
Or, that Axl abandoned his musical vision in favor of a reunion.

Well Sorum ''wasn't asked'' so we know that for a fact. We can guess that Clarke was not asked also. We do not know the facts of Stradlin and Adler but if they were ''not asked'' either, it would be a fairly low maneuver, especially considering Stradlin is a founding member.
But why agree to an Axl dictatorship - why sell your friends out - in fact don't answer that (chh ching)? Burying your band loyalties just because of Axl's peculiarities is the very definition of lacking integrity.
What's weird is the obsession that people have over Gilby Clark and Matt Sorum. They're not coming back, so get over it. It has nothing to do with "integrity". You are pouting because you didn't get your way.

who said it would be 2 hours? i assuming it would be a truck load of footage
if its only 2 hours then i change my vote to new album or Axl fanboy package
A Netflix series would be cool.
40/2 hour episodes.

I think This I love was made for Slash's soloing and he's honing in on it.
Better needs that "flurry of notes" at the end of the solo, before the breakdown. Or, have Slash just rock the breakdown and let Fortus do the solo. That's the meatiest part of the song, leading into Axl's "anger" verse. I love that intro.
Chinese Democracy sounds real heavy now. I love what Slash has added to it.

I concur with sentiments expressed about the second night. It was amazing. The band sounded more in tune, fluid, and relaxed. You couldn't have asked for more from Axl; even sounds good on November Rain.

I'd be overjoyed with CD 2, as it existed when Axl announced it was ready. I'm not sure how I feel about "the remix". From what I've heard from " the leaks" I'm not interested. But, definitely want CD 2 above anything else. Then, I'd love a new album with the current line-up. The UYI tour documentary is tantalizing, but I feel like it would be underwhelming. How do you condense 2 years into 2 hrs? Also, there's a lot of good behind the scenes footage on YouTube from that time.
The "reunion" documentary could be interesting, if it involved the guys opening up, in a "safe space", to trusted confidantes.

Having Slash play This I Love was a dream come true and Axl killed it on the vocal. I love the intro to Better and Axl sounds great on the "anger" part. Slash seems lost on the solo, but that's to be expected because it's complicated. The important thing is for him to hit the high notes at the end of it. Chinese Democracy is probably my least favorite track from the album, although it's so awesome to hear Slash play it. I look forward to hearing as many songs from that album as they are willing to play, especially I.R.S.
We are getting the best case scenario for the entire fan base right now. I'd rather see complaints about Slash playing songs from CD than complaints about NuGnR being the world's greatest cover band.

Listening to Better again now.
The part right after the big jam, where Slash is doing the palm mutes reminds me of the intro to Right Here Right Now by Jesus Jones!Thank you for posting this and also for pinpointing which song that part reminds me of.

I had a dream about a year ago. Axl, Slash, and Duff had reunited, and as chance would have it, I encountered them one late morning while out for a walk. Initially, I was taken aback by the shock of what I was seeing before me. They were welcoming and invited me to tag along. There was laughter and an easy-going, relaxed energy. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits.
We decided to have some lunch and found a small coffee shop. Once we had settled in to our seats, curiosity began to swirl in my thoughts. "You guys are all in the same band again? You're back?! How did this happen?"
" Are you going to put out a new album!!?"
Axl jumped up out of the booth and hightailed it out of there. Slash and Duff, disappointed and mildly upset, stared at me with a sense of bewilderment, wondering why I had done what I'd done.

so is it the same Set list tonight? I hope not, I am hoping they are going to mix it up every night but I am guessing it is going to be the same
I think it'll be different. They'll do Dont Cry. They did most of the "epics ballads" last night, although there's still some to pick from there, the overall set will be heavier and more rockin'.

Someone managed to record the intro song last night and it sounded like it could be another part of "The General". I may be wrong, but the orchestra sound reminded me of the intro they used a few years back. I hope we will get a chance to hear the full song one day!
I was intrigued by this as well. This can only be a sign of good things to come.

They should call it Greatest Hits 2. Even though we have never heard the songs, we know all the titles, and some of us love the songs so much, we are able to talk in depth about them.
