Good on you man. It has to be a total pain on the ass to constantly have people/fans attack you.

"I'm your biggest fan. Your music changed my life. I got married to November rain. Appetite was the soundtrack of my youth." Duff had heard that same exact statement 63,397 times.

At a concert venue - they are open game.

But in the dude's day off when he is out with his wife - people should respect his privacy.

Good on you. Props for not invading his space and letting him chill and enjoy his day.

Well concluded, that's exactly how I see it as well!

Absolutely not, I'd be quite disappointed if I got a 50% Axl performance. But as you can see from the reviews of people who have been to those early leg shows, they don't seem to notice/care.

Look at people's reviews from Slane on here. They were just as happy as the people who went to see Philly/LA/Brisbane or even Axl/DC. They all say "Axl sounded phenomenal." So either they're fooling themselves, or he genuinely sounds good enough on a bad day when you're there, due the acoustics or reverb on the mic of some shit.

Ive only seen him with AC/DC recently so when I see him London I'll have to compare. Hopefully he's back on form by then anyway.

I think it's both aspects. At a live consert people tend to be less critical and more enthusiastic and therefore not able to hear the flaws. It's that way with me and it seemed to be the same with most people around me last night. But then we have the sound as well. In the rock songs it was hard to her nuances last night. People were screaming and often it was hard to tell if Axl were singing with rasp or not. So my live impression of My Michelle and my impressions listening to it on YouTube today is completely different.

In the ballads it's easier to hear how the vocals actually sounds. But then the heat of the moment sometimes makes them better then they actually are.

With that said I have to say that I'm really impressed of Axl 2016/2017. He works hard, often sings amazing and plays for 3h. Sure his not always brilliant and some songs sounds a bit week, but I have no problems with that. I'm quite sure that he does the best he can every night.

  3. I've just come back to my hotel after the gig. I enjoyed the concert but never got as enthusiastic as I did when I saw them a year ago. But that ain't that strange, I've already seen basically the same show once and the last time it was a huge thing for me to finally see Gn'R (with Duff and Slash). This time was really good as well, but it can never be the same thing for me again as it was the last time.

Highlights from this night were This I Love (Axl did an amazing job on that song), Civil War (the band were great, but the response from the audience were overwhelming), Coma (both Axl and Slash pretty much nailed their parts), Sorry (this version were amazing!) and Don't Cry (not my favorite song, but Axl turned it in to one of the highlights tonight). I was glad that they played Black Hole Sun, but Axl had some problems with that song so I never felt that they reached the level that I think they can reach on that song.

Overall a good consert and I'm looking forward to seeing them soon again.

I just arrived. Shitty rain here!

I had actually expected that. It seems like it's always raining when I'm visiting Bilbao. At least it seems to be okay weather tomorrow.

I cant wait for this show, I hope they play Madagascar for the first time with the New Band :)

That would be something! Even if my biggest dream is to get Don't Blame Me. But that would probably never happen.

If I should be more realistic I'm hoping that they play OTGM, My Michelle and There Was a Time.

It would also be amazing if Mark Lanegan would make a guest appearance. But I would probably be happy with whatever I get.

  5. I thought it was really fun to hear The Damned play New Rose in a small tent at Coachella and then a few hours later hear GN'R play it on the main stage :headbang:. But I don't think I could tell which of those two live versions I preferred. I love The Damned and their version and I love GN'R and how they do the song live nowadays (but the TSI version is way to stiff, mostly because of the drums).

he is great on AC/DC songs :)  but i love him on GN'R songs too and i think he sounds really good...

    Exactly!

And Axl may not sound like he did for 20-30 years ago, or not even like 2006. But I can still love what he's doing nowadays. Axl still got an expression like no one else and can still take those highest notes in an amazing way. That's more than enough for me.

i loved Axl on both the Brian and the Bon songs. i think he sounded like he may...just MAY have strained his voice a little. that's what i think anyway :)

Yeah, I did too actually! He was amazing! But I think that he sounded a bit "safer" on the Brian songs.

  8. Well I think the thing is that Axl's voice has changed, but not so much regarding the highest notes. He still take most of the highest notes and can do it with rasp as well. But when comes to the highest notes in his mid range register, things is much harder for Axl nowadays. So in songs where he's supposed to go from the lowest mid range tones, to the highest (where he really has to struggle), yeah then it sometimes sounds bad until he reach his falsetto tones.

I think that's the reason why it was relatively easy for him to sing the Brian-era songs. But harder to sing some of the Bon-era songs, even if the later has lower tones.

  9. Amazing gig! Been waiting since 93 for this so I was just happy and screaming along to all the songs. When the intro riff to OTGM started, I was chocked. That's probably that gnr-song that meant most to me through the years. I couldn't find any words. I just screamed along.
