  1. Gotta say I was pretty bored with everything at this point and just waiting for whatever new thing to surface, but watching some of these videos and some stuff from this summer days ago also, I hope somebody else noticed cause is difficult for me to explain what I mean but let's just say that here Axl doesn't seem on autopilot anymore, like basically most of the 2017 run. Don't get me wrong there's no stellar whole performance without glitches and shit, but I can clearly here way more control in his voice, his mood is real good and you can see he is more confident also in the way he moves. I first noticed this with the amazing control he has now in the lower range in songs like nightrain is evident for some time now even better than 2016. It's hard to explain but I think the english word is vowel, you can see the way he now manages confidently how he pronunces certain words and that changes the control you have on the notes, the raspy or clean tone you wanna use. I really hope somebody else can see this cause I don't know how to make myself clear about it, but these videos in the thread with a lot of hi resolution axl close ups helped me see better the open vowels and closed ones... So in conclusion without sounding too crazy I hope, I am happy to see that something is up, either he is simply in a good mood lately so he puts more effort and conciousness in the performances, leading to the confidence also, or he is training a bit with a coach and feeling some results leading to a better mood and more confidence, no idea but even here that we can all hear his voice crack or being stressed in the raspy high range I was happy and surprised to see and here some kind of difference and improvement. Might this mean that something is up in the near future? probably not, I don't know, one can hope

  2. Slash clearly needs somebody to challenge him to create truly memorable music, at this point with his band, his own studio, Myles and Elvis, he is just too comfortable, there's no struggle, no conflict... And I believe that's where epic songs come from, without even mentioning the lyrics. I find everything in this last album a missed opportunity cause it's clear the guy has still a lot to say musically if you just hear the riffs and leads spread around the album... Still this gives me a lot of hope for a gnr album cause some of this stuff, which even for him is supposed to be the generic stuff I think since he has a different vault let's say for gnr riffs and ideas, some of the stuff in living the dream has so much potential in a Guns environment. So in conclusion this record passes by for me, some casual listening more out of hope for gnr than anything else.

and even if I'm a bit sad that this album is so bland I think it's a good thing to have almost everybody feel like that because slash could be even more motivated to go in the studio with gnr and bring out the best out of himself and everybody else so maybe there is a silver lining: maybe they'll finally admit that they just need each other on a creative level and they can still make history after many years

  3. I hope things will move soon because the suspense is really too much... trying to be rational though, new music is out of the picture since they are refering way too much and obviously to AFD... Also something just show related would be non sense as many pointed out Universal Music is involved and not Live Nation, so one would think there has to be some kind on release. I'm going crazy just seeing that something is happening honestly

  4. honestly I'm a huge Slash fan, enjoyed every bit of his solo work... but at this point this kinda bums me up a lot; we will get another great rock record with lots of good riffs that will make us think "this would have been a great GNR song", we will get generic vocals and lyrics, and again I love Myles but it's just the objective truth... his writing does not have the same impact. When World on Fire was released I was all over it for a couple of months and I still like it but it got old really quick, and I'm not happy to say these things. I get it though, the album was on hold for 2 damn years, and since it's already scheduled for september I would guess that these songs are the ones that were in writing and pre production before the GNR tour kicked in, so of course they're gonna complete and release the album. Also since Slash is constantly writing I would like to think that the riffs and ideas that came up recently and are coming up now will be saved for future GNR music; he does sound pretty happy about Guns and Slash would not be this happy about it if new music was not being considered... I think he wants to add new elements to the legacy of the band, he is not the kinda guy to keep touring without any creative energy, that's why I believe it will happen. Of course I would have prefered to be sooner, but again, I get why he wanted to wrap this record up first

  5. Thanks everybody for your suggestions,I think at this point since slash is a personal hero of mine and I love insights about the recording process,I could start with his book, than maybe continue with canter's and so on ...what do you think about that?

The only doubt would be that I don't wanna get lost in too many junkies tales and focus more on band dynamic and recording process

  6. With the new Matt Sorum book coming out and everything I wanted to ask some of you guys who know more than me, where to start from. I haven't read any of the GN'R books out... And I was curious to know your opinion on which one is the best one to begin with. I was thinking about Mick Wall's Last of the Giants, but I have read that it borrows a lot from Slash's and Duff's books. I hope you guys can help me out, I'm hungry for some GN'R news, interviews, new music and everything, reading the forum all day every day hoping to find some new rumor or something... But since it's dead silent I can take this chance to read up the stuff I've missed. Thank You!

  7. Sympathy for the devil one of the best gnr covers for me, also as much as I love the stones, it's way better than the original, only flaw could be the ending... Also Ain't Fun and Black Leather, amazing songs, especially BL, simple, dark and heavy.

Dead Horse, Don't Damn Me, Garden of Eden, Perfect Crime, So Fine, Pretty Tied Up, Civil War, 14 Years, Dust n Bones, You Ain't the First... For me these songs are the core of the illusions records and I'd rather listen to these than stuff like Coma, Locomotive, The Garden...

For ChiDem I'd say the least popular one that I actually like, althoug it could have been better, is Rhiad, love that chorus, also the title track is one of my favourite modern rock songs ever, and Madagascar, love that one and the classic but modern feel, and nobody seems to care about it anymore

  8. One of the best Guns songs, one of the best riffs in rock n' roll; kickass, in your face, honest lyrics, full of cool quotable lines, I can't even begin to describe how underrated and unfarely ignored this song is, especially compared to other illusion songs wich have good riffs here and there but the vocal lines are too all over the place.

anyway, sorry about my english... that being said, this song deserves a lot more recognition I think, and it's quite obvious if you look at my Username, that I really believe that hahaha

  9. I'm not an excessivly precise guy when it comes to tempos even when I played with my band, I always told my drummer to not worry that much, if he was feeling it and rushed a little bit, it's part of the performance, it's human, and that's the point of rock n roll and live music... but you gotta draw a line, and frank often crosses that line, sadly... cause as I said before, I really like the guy

  10. Seen a couple of videos, Axl is sounding good, happy to see they slowed down a bit the tempos on some of the songs like Jungle and Nightrain, they sound so much better like this, and makes me think that they are not so much on autopilot, and still improving stuff... which is great

EDIT: just checked out my michelle, the tempo is great there too, way better... I'm curious to see Paradise City now, cause that's one of the songs that suffered the most from the excessive speed
