I gotta say that I'm getting pretty fucking psyched for this now! First time seeing Guns in the flesh. I was about a year too young when they played Slane last time round. Caught AXL/Dc in London last year and have pretty much watched every single periscope and YouTube video since April 1st 2016. As this is the first gig of the leg after a break, I' m not expecting the chainsaw rasp but hopefully a little less mickey! Fingers crossed.

Hey, welcome!
That's really cool. Unexpeced thing happen more ofthen than you would think. It's crossed my mind that Slash or Duff could be at the gig tomorrow. You should have told Duff to periscope the show tomorrow, since we haven't had a decent stream for some time haha.
Did you take a pic?
My G.F. took a photo of him from across the street. Dude was about to eat so i even felt bad just talking to him. Would have loved a photo with him. Currently outside the hotel freezing my nutsack off waiting to see if Axl might pop out.

Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time poster. In London for the gig tomorrow. Hung out outside the hotel earlier on. A few people waiting around. Not much goin on.I have my girlfriend with me and her idea of fun is most definitely not hanging around outside a hotel for a few hours a time. So ( much to my annoyance) we left to take a walk around Central London. As we were approaching Regent Street, I spotted a familiar face across the street.....Duff!!!
I nearly lost my shit! He was sitting out side a Pret a Manger with his wife. I debated approaching him as the last thing you want to be is a pain in the ass ignorant fan. Fuck it. I crossed the street and said hello as I walked by. He was super cool and friendly. I told him I was nearby waiting to see Axl. Duff asked me where he was staying. I reckon he will be at the gig tomorrow. I apologised for interrupting his lunch and said I loved his books and hoped that he would write a third book chronicling the reunion. He thanked me and I wished him luck for tour. Super nice guy.
I couldn't think straight for about an hour afterwards. Lol.
They say you should never meet your heroes. Fuck that shit! Roll on tomorrow!

Anytime I listen to Misty Mountain Hop by Led Zep, I can't help but wonder how It would sound with Axl singing it.

Last night was my first time seeing Guns and it was pretty fucking surreal to say the least. I hadn't been to Slane before so it is a magical sight to behold once you come through the entrance. It's a special looking venue for a gig and I can see why it has attained legendary status. Having said that, on a logistical and practical level it sucks donkey dick. It was a pain in the ass to trek to and a total fucking nightmare to get out of.
Regarding the band, the energy was off the charts. Nobody including Axl was phoning it in. Earlier on his voice seemed a little low in the mix. I liked Estranged. It's probably my favourite song of theirs but I usually give it a skip when watching periscope or YouTube videos as the second half is usually weak. I thought it wa pretty great last night. The vocals up to about Rocket Queen seemed a little less Disneyesque but from RQ onwards it was very noticeable. The clean falsetto is a bit disappointing when you know and have seen Axl knock it out of the park so many times. It's clearly a choice as I imagine if AC/DC were up there last night he would have rasped the fuck out of it. I didn't realise how Mickeyish and others sounded like until I watched some videos today. People blaming phones for shit sounding vocals need to wake the fuck up. The YouTube videos pretty much give a good indicator as how it really sounds. None of this is a complaint by the way. Just an observation. I watched every gig since last year. Always go back to the Houston and Philly videos. I was surprised by how great YCBM sounded as that is one I most definitely skip over. Despite the falsetto, Axl doesn't sound out of breath or tune. He hits the notes nearly every time and I marvel at his energy for his age. It's only the start of the leg so he did way better than the first concerts from previous legs. Plus my voice is fucked today and I can barely speak from singing all the songs yesterday so I don't know how he does it.
Black Hole Sun was a special treat and was another of the moments that gave me a lump in my throat and serious risk of getting teary eyed. Slash and Duff were awesome. Fortus, I think another poster said this too, I didn't really notice that much. I almost had to look out for him. Nightrain was incredible, as was Patience. Funny enough, I didn't mind The Seeker. Listening to it, I was thinking " hey Axl, why don't you use this fucking voice a bit more often!"
It exceeded my expectations and I had been waiting for this ever since Coachella was announced last year. I've been lurking on the forum every day since then and enjoy reading everyone's posts and sharing the excitement ( and disappointment, lol). It was a big deal seeing my heroes last night and I would love to see them again. Perhaps down the road at an arena show. Paying that extra 60 euro was worth it to be in the GC. I don't know how the sound carried to the back but the view was pretty shitty. When standing at the back on the hill, people onstage looked like little specks. The size of the screens couldn't compensate.
Overall, one of the best gigs I've been to and I'm happy to have witnessed it. A strong start like this bodes well for a kickass European leg!!
As for Slane, there ain't a band on the planet that I would return there for. It would take Michael Fucking Jackson coming back from the dead with support from Nirvana for me to even entertain the idea!
