  1. I'm kind of holding out hope that Brian will come out to sing a song or two or at least be acknowledged in some way, but I have had a hinting suspicion that Brian's exit was as political as it was health-related.

I'm 99.9% sure that tonight is the last AC/DC show ever so maybe they will do something special to put a cap on a 40+ year career.

  2. They had a hell of a run, but in all probability tonight's show will be their last ever. I think that Axl did an admirable job, but between Brian's hearing loss, Malcolm's dementia, Phil's meth-fueled death threats and now Cliff's retirement I think it's time to permanently hang up the devil horns.

For those of you going to tonight's show, I salute you.

    Yes.

Izzy (and Steven) has his writing credits so he gets money from when the songs are licensed, however he has no say in how the music is licensed or used. If they let someone use the music for free he will get a percentage of 0. If they charge someone $5,000 he will get a percentage of that $5,000.

That's only if he didn't sell his publishing when he quit in 1991....which is the dumbest most short-sighted move a songwriter with hits under their belt can do.

I don't think Izzy sold his publishing though- that's how he continues to fly under the radar.....he can afford to.

You can go on with that thing of keeping the name alive (ONE album in TWO decades!!) but Axl was doing Vegas residencies lately in the States. Of course Slash not being a singer and not having the GNR name was playing in smaller venues but he was doing better year after year lately (and doing things in his own terms) while Axl was going downhill. Now GNR just finished a tour that left them over 130 millions, ONLY because Slash came back to the band, so why should Axl take twice as much as Slash when he/GNR wouldn't have made half of that money without him?

GNR got $6.2 million playing two shows at Vegas this year.

    http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7503431/guns-n-roses-tour-117-million-bruce-springsteen

Axl was getting around $800,000 a week (three shows) doing the Vegas residence.

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/guns-n-roses-first-las-vegas-residency-concert-attendances-grosses-revealed/

Bottom line is, Axl wouldn't do half the money he's doing without Slash and Slash wouldn't do half the money he's doing without Axl. So, if them playing together is what's making them get this huge amount of money, they should split it fairly.

They should,...but Axl is the owner of the GNR name, so he doesn't have to. Slash makes much more getting 25% of GNR playing stadiums than getting let's say 75% of his solo shows in theaters and clubs.

At this point, Axl owns this Wendy's franchise and Slash and Duff just flip the burgers.

I don't think Duff and Slash bend over. It seems pretty clear the three of them get the same money due to the legal partnership after Izzy left. "They didn't want to split the loot equally " says it pretty much all...

HIGHLY doubtful that it is an even three way split between Axl, Slash and Duff. Slash and Duff are making a ton of money for sure, but I promise that Axl still walks away with the most.

  7. Guns n' Roses songs that Izzy Stradlin  has written or co-written:

    Don't Cry

    Double Talkin' Jive

    It's So Easy

    Mr.Brownstone

    My Michelle

    Nightrain

    Out 'Ta Get Me

    Paradise City

    Patience

    Pretty Tied Up

    Rocket Queen

    Sweet Child 'O Mine

    Think About You

    You Could Be Mine

    14 Years

    Welcome to the Jungle

    Bad Obsession

    Dust n' Bones

    ...and more!!!!

So yea...he's not the flashiest performer on stage but GODDAMN how can anyone marginalize him or say he's not an important member? Izzy Stradlin is the fucking internal engine that GNR at its best ran on - especially in the songwriting department.

I mean...how many of the songs listed above are they playing on the reunion tour? Izzy Stradlin is the Keith Richards of GNR in both style and "tell it like it is" attitude.

  8. Guns n' Roses has had, by my count, 20 official band members. I think that says a lot about the job security, financial stability and creative satisfaction about everyone in the "Guns n' Roses, Inc."  not named Axl.

Izzy doesn't want part of that shit unless he is paid as an equal, founding member for this tour that has now grossed $117 million dollars.

They didn't meet his number, and I'm sure that Fortus comes at a price 1/8 the amount a founding member not named Steven Adler would demand.

Wouldn't it be interesting, if after the Europe and down south tours, they would eventually swing around again to North America. Then, at this point Izzy would surprisingly join the band for the 2nd tour, and all of us who already spent our money on the first tour, would go again to see them for the 2nd tour, because of Izzy. What a money maker that would be. This is a publicist dream. Am I dreaming here? Could be a possibility?

It would make a difference for hardcore fans, but to make $117 million dollars you need to sell tickets to a mainstream audience who only know Axl, Slash and the greatest hits.

Plus, they may have already saturated the touring market by trying to play a second stadium show in some cities only to have ticket sales fall flat.

When they come back, the totally unrealistic dream scenario would be:

    - New material

    - All five original members involved, even if guest appearances and not the whole show.

    - Shows in arenas and large theaters with more affordable ticket prices.

But folks, that will NEVER happen. This is it. Enjoy what we have before it goes away again.

LOL so its not greed and not all about money if Izzy is there? Because everything you just said still applies if Izzy is in the band: Most likely no new music, were still going to the beer line during CD songs, its not about mending, and its not about creativity. GTFOH. Youre responding with emotions.

I include Izzy in this. He just wants the money too, he just wasn't seen as essential enough by Axl, Slash and Duff  to getting the biggest payday possible.

I'm not saying Izzy is innocent or not greedy. I'm just saying that he is butt hurt because he wasn't offered an equal share which he thought he deserved.

The only guy who just wants to play from the heart and has a real emotional connection is Steven. I understand why he was not included more than the occasional guest shot, though.

Bottom line is that 2016 delivered more than any GNR fan could have ever expected, and nothing with this band will ever be unicorns and rainbows.

I bet Axl/Slash/Duff are laughing all the way to the bank if they read forums like this one. Izzy probably laughs too. The guy gets paid every time the songs are played. Must be nice.

This is the truth. Izzy makes money on this tour too- he has publishing. He gets to kick back and count his money without the travel or being a 53 year old dancing monkey in a football stadium.

  12. Here are the lyrics to Izzy's new song "FP Money" I think that they speak for themselves.

They can fight about it, money, some bag of gold.
They can fight about it, money, the big wheels roll.
And I’m taking the long way home today.
Really got no worries either way.
    Cuttin’ deals, shakin’ hands,
    hopin’ it feels, open plans.
They can fight about it, money, it’s just a bag of gold.
They can fight about it, money, feel the big wheels roll.
And I’m taking the long way home today.
Really in no hurry either way.
Open fields, open planes, open gates, open lands, open sky, open mind, open race.
They can fight about it, money, it’s a bag of gold.
They can fight about it, money, the story goes.

  13. Every original member of Guns n' Roses is in their 50's. Slash is in the middle of a divorce and desperately trying to sell his house. I'm sure Axl doesn't want to play Vegas residencies anymore and has a Malibu mansion, psychics, therapists and lawyers to pay. Duff is an astute businessman first- a musician second.

We all would prefer to have Izzy and Steven in the band, but the band makes more money without them and if it doesn't affect ticket sales to 99% of their demographic one way or the other, then their management and business advisers would urge them to go out without them.

What I'm saying is...there is no Santa Claus. There is no Easter Bunny. And Axl, Slash and Duff reunited in their 50's to play stadiums for customers paying hundreds (and for some thousands) of dollars to witness it for one reason and one reason alone: To make a LOT of money.

I have no expectations of new music from this partial reunion. This version of GNR will simply keep playing these songs (90% of which are from at least 25 years ago) until people stop going.

Ironically, the only members of GNR to put out new music in 2016 are Izzy and Matt with a song bitching about the GNR reunion.

Axl's style of singing is far more demanding than Jagger's ever was, to be fair.

Plus, The Stones have released 29 studio albums, with a 30th coming out this fall. That means a deep well of music to change up set lists and make it more interesting for fans going to multiple concerts. True, The Stones play mostly the hits, but every night they also allow the fans to vote for one song.

GNR has a total of 4 studio albums (AFD, UYI 1/2) as a band...and one of those is all covers (TSI). No I'm not counting CD because Axl Rose is not and never has been Guns n' Roses. I consider it a solo release.

Bottom line: Guns n' Roses needs some more QUALITY material. Hopefully it will be done rockin' shit with loud guitars and real drums, not loops, copy/paste parts played by a dozen different people over a decade and waaaaay over the top auto-tuned vocals.

If they tour the US again anytime soon, you'll see lower sales.

Part of the appeal of legacy acts like The Rolling Stones or AC/DC and as it stands, GNR, is that they don't tour often, so then it becomes a special thing. You think, "well shit honey, we better go see the Stones, we may not have the chance again". It justifies the higher price.

I think we'll get a new "Very Best Of" release this year, something AFD related next year, and who knows after that.

Soon isn't the word for new music. I'd love to be wrong! Gimme that CD II!

I can guarantee that there will be a 30th Anniversary AFD reissue with unreleased songs, remastered sound and all the bells and whistles.

I imagine that this version of GNR (no Izzy or Steven) will tour behind it playing the whole album. That's a way for you to pay to see this tour twice while thinking that you're getting something different or special.
