That statement should have come out weeks ago, as it says nothing at all, other than what we've know for weeks.

So basically it's "We've got your money, and at some point we may reschedule. But we may not. Either way, don't worry, just sit back and let your gig date sail by".

Exactly. This was due in early April.

  2. Well, this virus & quarantine stuff hit Europe and the States back in March. It's May and we didn't get anything, whereas other bands have been streaming old shows or doing acoustic sets on social media (Fb, Insta...). I really wonder how expensive it may be to hire a company with expertise on marketing and social media to make the band and the GN'R brand valuable, professional-looking and relevant.

I think gnr are in the exact same boat as Maiden. Insurance is the reason the cancellations haven't been coming more and more. There are a lot of bands caught in the same spot.

They should have just released a statement a month ago saying "we're trying to figure out the best thing to do... blah, blah" saying nothing at all was not the move. So on the PR front they have handled it poorly.

Exactly. Just give a "heads up" making it clear the tour won't happen as scheduled and that it will be sorted out in a few weeks time. Not having released a single official statement regarding the tour two weeks before it is supposed to begin is what I call handling things poorly and unprofessionally. Big acts like Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam and The Rolling Stones have done so — as they were meant to.

  4. This is the result of not being managed by qualified individuals.

The Rolling Stones, a band whose members are 75+ year olds, have been way more successful at catching up with social media and the coronavirus situation. For example, the Stones are streaming old shows every Sunday on Youtube, they just realeased a new song in 8 years that talks about being in lockdown, they have been allowing people to vote one song in their setlist for the last 20 years, etc.

    THIS times 100x

its exactly how i felt as soon as Slash started the first strings of Paradise City and I started to walk out, they got my money again

i could understand if it was a true nostalgic act with all original members and some rotation of deeper cuts, but paying hired hands with no new music to maximize $ will only last for so long before the joke is on them and guy's like izzy remain intact with legendary rock icon status and GNR become on the same wave length as Poison Iron Maiden and Motley Crue etc

Iron Maiden release new albums every 4-5 years and revisit old albums with new stage setup, setlist, technology... I have seen them a couple of times myself and you can tell they still got it. Bruce Dickinson has gone through cancer and sings really well and performs extraordinarily given his good physique. I mean, they deserve every penny they earn.

Look, I'm as negative as anyone about the direction of the band recently. But, they soundchecked three songs that this lineup hasn't played; one last played in 2007, one last played in 1992, and one an unreleased song that's never been played. Let's just see what happens before we pile on top of them.

All I'm asking is, you know, at least change the order of the songs, a new opening, and new stage set up. It doesn't take that much.
