The US shows will def be smaller than this! The only reason it's so big is because the entire floor is open. With the stadium tours having very expensive VIP seats, the pits will be much smaller.

Izzy is unreliable because he left the band in early 90's (trying to stay off drugs in a band spiraling out of control)? Axl was jumping into audience, showing up late and causing riots at the same time.. but past deeds don't make him unreliable, unlike Izzy?
IDK if AFD -tour counts as a world tour, but it lasted 16 months...and the whole classic lineup was still together when it ended.
I'm not 100% sure what exactly Izzy was offered and or what he asked for (how much money and was it just guest spots or something more) Sure there's second hand information but none of the parties directly involved have given precise information. But you seem to know better, because you know that Izzy was the one who asked more than he deserved... not the other three. I guess he should have done it for free, for the love of music and the fans (because he's the unreliable one, right?)
I have never called this tour a cash grab, (or that somebody is selling their soul) of course they want to make money. However, when time goes on and nothing new or creative (new music etc.) seems to appear, it doesn't make this "reunion" look very good.
I've bough my ticket last year, so I'm going to see them (especially because this is my first time to get to see them live). I hope it will be a good show, despite everything I just wrote here. I'm Izzy fangirl, so I'm as bias as it gets, but some parts of your post seemed slightly exaggerated to me. (and some parts of mine are exaggerated too - I will admit it)
Agreed!! Izzy was trying to save himself and get away from the negativity. You certainly can't blame the guy for that! I would have left too. I honestly don't think he was ever approached or asked to be part of the tour. (That's only my opinion, but I truly believe it.) Maybe they thought he wouldn't like it or would want to leave halfway through or something. I don't know. And maybe he figured that them not asking him to be a major part of it meant that they didn't want to "share the loot." We'll never really know the whole truth.
You'll have a good time! It will be a great show!

Mark Tremonti said that Alter Bridge will tour the remainder of the year and then take a break in 2018 so Myles can work with Slash. And if Slash signed 2 years with GN'R, then it makes sense that he'd hook back up with Myles. I love SMKC!

I never expected a new album or single. As it's been stated numerous times, the "huge announcement" I think is what really got people's hopes up into thinking there was more. I mean, they're playing markets that they have already played less than a year ago. These aren't cities that they haven't been to in 20+ years. They were just there last year! Also, they had a billboard up for months eluding to something in LA. They've made it a point to say "Where it all began." I think the people who were expecting more aren't idiots for, well...expecting more! I can see that the radio stations are excited and eager to share that GN'R is coming to town (again), but all of the hype was overblown and ridiculous. I don't even remember them making this big of a deal out of the first shows announced!

So that's the "ginormous, huge announcement?" A winter arena tour in the US with insane ticket prices? No mention whatsoever about the AFD anniversary. I thought Fernando had "big plans" for that? This is just sad.

i think it is ridiculous for GN'R to pass up an opportunity to try everything they can to get Izzy and Steven, there are tons of people ( including me ) who would pay beaucoup bucks to see that concert.
They could literally charge over $1000 a ticket and people (like me) would pay to see it--> AFD5. So there's your cash grab boys!

- Co-headlining tour with whoever: If it was about that, there would be at least a small hint in the promo videos, which are all about the threeunion and NITL.
My guess is one or two anniversary shows in LA (maybe a couple more in other big cities) with the current lineup and some big names as "special guests" e.g. Steven Tyler, David Grohl etc. A reissue/special edition of AFD is possible too.
I agree. The special anniversary show might not be so bad, depending on the special guests. But, for the radio stations to be involved, I think it's going to be a co-headliner tour. I can see how that would be a big deal for them (the stations and the cities.)

AFD5 would be a huge announcement too.
For me personally, that's the only announcement I would consider "huge." Anything else---> more dates, remastered album, DVD, etc... -shrugs- Not really "huge." A new single would be big, but not huge.

well they could play AFD5 July 21st 23rd and 25th at Hollywood bowl or LA Coliseum... and then revert to NITL with aliens... lol sorry I had to..
That would be awesome! I'm sure Steven will be there, but to have an AFD anniversary show without Izzy is just wrong. I don't want to see the current lineup play AFD with Melissa jumping around in the background "lit af."

Afd5 shows in primary markets maybe?
Now THAT would be a "huge announcement." And, that would be something too! I would LOVE for that to be it! Just to celebrate the 30th anniversary, the original AFD5 will play a few shows in LA, NYC, Chicago, etc. That is what I would consider "huge." I wish it was that. I wish it so much.

That would be terrible.. I would seriously question even going..... Would they still play as many crap CD songs with a shorter set? Would we have to pay double because the Who is on the bill? I could care less about the Who... Never mind that it is a sin to put even a penny in Townsend's pocket...
I agree. The tickets would be outrageous, unless they take a pay cut, which seems unlikely, and the set would be shorter. I think that would only appeal to casual fans who like the popular songs of each respective band.

I was hoping for something special for the AFD anniversary. Sadly I think those who said it would be a co-headlining tour are right. It's just a question of who. I wouldn't mind it if was Aerosmith or The Who.

I have no clue why everyone is speculating. It's clearly going to be a studio version of The Seeker
LOL! That'll be the "new" single. It wouldn't surprise me one bit!

It is odd that the announcement is going to happen at 4:00am PST, BUT that's probably because whatever show(s) they're going to announce are going to go on sale tomorrow and they have to give some folks (especially on the east coast) some time. Since the announcement was originally for today and the tickets to go on sale tomorrow, that's the probably the reason.

If they don't do one off show with Izzy and Steven they better just ignore 30 years of AFD, and celebrate it with a post on social media.
I fee the EXACT same way. I'm sure Steven would show up to anything, but if you're going to celebrate the 30th anniversary of AFD without Izzy, then please just don't bother. The only thing worse than not seeing Izzy there would be seeing Melissa jumping up and down. NO.

I mean...Live Nation promoting this is pretty telling, and a bit of a spoiler. Why would they give a f*ck about new music?
I don't think they would. Sounds like it's just going to be more dates.

At first, I thought it was a special 30th AFD anniversary show in LA with some special guests. But now that LN and GN'R pages are writing that they're just getting started, I'm starting to believe everyone who said it would be a big co-headliner tour is right. After they finish up in N. America, they will have toured everywhere. Usually this is where a normal band would release a new album. Sadly I don't think we're going to get new music from this lineup. Slash and the Conspirators maybe, but not this lineup of Guns. So mixing it up with a co-headliner sounds like the best way to still bring in the bank.
-
It's just going to be an announcement of a show in LA. It's not new music. If it was something like that, then GN'R would announce it, not an LA radio station.
It would be nice to see the AFD5 do a show or just be involved somehow for the anniversary, but it would be shitty as hell to have Frank and Richard for the rest of the tour, so it prob isn't going to happen. I have nothing against Melissa but to see her there at the 30th anniversary is just a f--ing joke.

If they're going to feature a guest, I hope it isn't Bach. It's just weird for a band of GnR's stature to bring in a hair metal relic like him - might as well call in Vince Neil too while we're at it.
Why not bring in legends of their stature like Mike Patton, Steven Tyler, Bono, or even the bald dude from the smashing pumpkins- so many cool people to potentially have as guests.
Agreed! I don't care for Bach, but Axl seems to like him.
Maybe the big announcement is that Axl and Vince are finally gonna have that fight!
Just now, Fourteenbeers said:Vince Neil.. maybe we could finally have that fight between them. I'd pay to see that.
LOL! YYou beat me to it! Yeah I'd pay to see that too! Axl would kill him, back then and now!

A new single and maybe a video to go with it would be awesome! However, I don't think that would be the "huge announcement." Usually when a band releases a new albums/single/video, they already know and just say something like, "New single to be released on Wednesday!" The odds are that it's a show in LA for the anniversary. I don't think it will be the AFD5 but I think it'll be a show with "special guests." I think Adler will be there and maybe Sebastian Bach if he's around. It'll be something like that.

As sad as it is, this is what is comes down to. It's all about money. I'm not hating on them for wanting to turn a profit. But the funny thing is, they could do right by the fans and STILL make piles of money. Who charges $2500 for a VIP "ultimate" package that DOESN'T include a meet and greet?? Would it really be THAT hard to shake someone's hand and stand still for 3 seconds to take a picture and make someone's year? Can you imagine having your picture taken with the "Big 3?" That would be something I would even invest in! Every day that passes, it becomes more clear that the "Big 3" don't give a shit about the fans and they're just out for all they can get. I hate to say that, but what other conclusion can you come to? No interviews, no press, no TV appearances, etc. The fan club and the seats they offer are worthless. The fan club members should get first crack at pits and the better seats. I read a post somewhere where someone mentioned the shows at Dodger Stadium and the first few rows were filled with "models." Clearly its more important to have beautiful but shallow girls sitting up front who spend the show taking selfies and checking their makeup rather than actual fans jumping up and down and singing along.
