GUNS N’ Roses fans were kept waiting an hour at Tuesday night’s MCG show and it seems we now know why.  A source has told the Herald Sun Gunners frontman Axl Rose refused to leave his Crown Towers hotel room unless given a police escort to the concert.  

It’s understood the rock star took one look outside his window at the traffic below and refused to budge without police assistance.  His band mates, who were already at the venue a few kilometres away, pleaded with him to make a move with the 70,000-strong crowd growing increasingly restless.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Kendra Jackson confirmed a request for a police escort was received on the night, but it was turned down.  “A request was made and a risk assessment was conducted. The request was denied,” she said.  To make matters worse, while obviously aware of they city’s peak-hour traffic snarl, when they finally took to the stage the band confused Melbourne for Sydney.

The obvious question is - why did they not go by helicopter? No traffic, no taxpayer funded police escorts. Simple.

I bought my VIP pit tix to melbourne the minute they went in sale last year, then when I collected them yesterday I decided one show wouldn't be enough so treated myself to a Pit ticket in Adelaide also.  At that time there were just 88 left.  I feel that after tomorrow's show they might get a spike in ticket sales with people from melbourne deciding to head to Adelaide to catch them again- given it's a Saturday show it's pretty doable.

Cherry Bar are doing a GNR pre and post show drinks event.... so I can't imagine the band dropping by somehow ...maybe I'm imagining things but it feels like Cherry is a lot more mainstream/commercial than it was 15 or so years ago.

They'd be here by now. I know from a source there is a private shindig for them this evening.

I was at Ticketek collecting my tix yesterday and the staff said there were only 200 something tix left for the MCG.  I decided to go to Adelaide for saturdays gig and managed to get a ticket for for the Pit of which there were only 80 left yesterday morning..

What's wrong with stalking anyway? ? Yes it will definitely land at Tullamarine, in the private terminal. Given they play in SYD Friday I'm guessing they'll come in on Sunday or monday.  For what it's worth I think they will stay at Crown Towers.
