It's not a perfect comparison, but it's a better comparison than most. Axl and Billy are two guys trying to push forward with new music and new members and both are dealing with a lot of negative shit because of it. There are enough similarities for it to be interesting to think about IMO. There are obviously differences as well.

Logical, practical reply. But Axl isn't trying to push forward with new music. If taking 12+ years to put out a record, and no real sign he will ever produce another, is trying to push forward with new music then I guess I'm a moron.

Jesus Christ, you guys. It's over. GnR in it's current state will never become this cultural sensation no matter how good the music is. This band isn't going to suddenly strike a chord with the younger generation and become a big thing. The only thing people want is a reunion and that includes record companies. That's the only thing that will ever propel Axl into the spotlight again and have a chance to create any kind of "magic." I don't think there is a label that would want to touch the current thing with a 10 foot pole so the idea of a new album is ludicrous. Come on, do any of you really think Axl would finish a record that quick - even if it's based on old material? He's way too much of a perfectionist, it would take years. For the love of god, are you serious? I actually like that song, it's a very dark song about Elton's attempt at suicide and his indecision to marry a woman, but Axl singing it? Ah, no. Imagine him singing these lyrics:

May very well be correct. The project may have cost $12-15 million in total but since around 2004 Axl has been paying for this himself, after being cutoff from the label's wallet, which may be a couple mil.

It's probably a good thing. The buzz could feed off each other. A new album from two crazy people who people hate, it's sure to generate a buzz.

Do you really think the label sees Frank Ferrar's presence being felt as a selling point? That probably carries about the same weight in their mind as a random crack whore off the street having credits on the album.

A reunion and re-recorded album would be fucking huuuge. Unlike anything the rock world has ever experienced. I'm sure the label probably realizes - Slash, Duff, and Izzy would do it. Now all they have to do is convince old cranky pants. In the words of Steven Adler - "Nothing would be bigger."

This would be great but I would think that the old guys would feel a bit odd just re-recording songs they didn't help write at all. If you think about it, if this idea was proposed, it's like the last 14 years have been just a long drawn out scenario that Axl wanted: complete creative control. "Ok, I've got the music, guys, let's do it...what do you think?" My fear is if they are negotiating a reunion (which I agree with, is what I think may be happening) is part of the deal might be to write and record and that translates into more delay.

I always thought that that picture of Adler was actually one of the hobbits holding a dagger or something. I always thought the Izzy quote was a bit strange in that context.

(I like Adler btw. More than Sorum. I kinda agree with Izzy's comment. Well put. I never understood how a rock band can ever kick someone for using too much drugs (This was the reason right?) anyways. Same happened with Metallica and Mustaine.)

We feel that were it to come out at this time, it would not get the public attention and proper promotion that we feel it deserves after all these years. Thank you for your patience."

Nah, remember how we all thought the same thing at the end of last year. Axl himself told us CD needs proper promotion. I think March 6 is history, but I also think that the big old GNR truck is roling roling roling, and the fan is about to hit the shit and stuff like that and fans or whatever.

Oh the GnR truck is rolling, no doubt there. But it's rolling along at about 1 mph, with Axl at the wheel with no regard to a timely destination and the road he's on is neverending.

All there will be by March 6 is further silence. They will hit the new tour dates with no announcement and no sign of a release date. If we are lucky we'll see it this year but I'm already thinking it won't happen this year - if it ever does. He's a such a little pussy.
