To me, it sounds like two unfinished ideas stuck together. Need a few more listens but not overly impressed.
-
i would start off by getting 'strictly commercial', the best of. has zappa's most listenable songs on it, then go from there onto his really fucked up wierd stuff.
-
every album by nirvana except nevermind
every album by alice in chains
majority of the melvins albums
nothing by pearl jam.
-
the holy bible by the manics is one of the most melancholy/depressing/sad/disturbing albums ever made. it's make me feel all them things when i listen to it.
-
I have seen them 3 times over the last 4 years. The first time i seen them in 2004 they were amazing. great show. in 2006 it was mediocre at best. they didn't play for long. and i seen them last week when they played the crimson idol, whcih was new and exciting but the drummer wasn't good enough for the songs, i thought. i would go and see them but i think as a band they are getting steadily worse.

some of my favourites:
manic street preachers 4st 7lb
Kate and kristin and kit kat
All things I like looking at
Too weak to fuss, too weak to die
Choice is skeletal in everybodys life
I choose, my choice, I starve to frenzy
Hunger soon passes and sickness soon tires
Legs bend, stockinged I am twiggy
And I dont mind the horror that surrounds me
Self-worth scatters, self-esteems a bore
I long since moved to a higher plateau
This disciplines so rare so please applaud
Just look at the fat scum who pamper me so
Yeh 4st. 7, an epilogue of youth
Such beautiful dignity in self-abuse
Ive finally come to understand life
Through staring blankly at my navel.
alice in chains - godsmack (last chorus)
what in god names have you done?
stick your arm for some real fun
so your sickness weighs a ton
and god's name is smack to some
eels - in the yard, behind the church
In the yard, behind the church where
Butterflies and blackbirds search for
A safe place to rest the night away
We will go down to the brook and
Sit upon the overlook then
Forget about the troubles of the day
We will walk among the graves of
Men long dead with presidents' names and
Listen to the water flow softly by
I will kiss you on the lips now
And as the sky grows dark we'll strip down
And let the water wash away all lies
w.a.s.p. - all the lyrics to the crimson idol are great.

Let’s be honest, it’s pretty dreadful.
