Well I prefered Sixx am records to Slash solo records.
Nikki Sixx wrote those songs, he's the guy that wrote every single Motley Crue hit, so I'd say he's pretty good. And the Sixx AM singer doesn't sound like a dying cat in a trash can.

I think he already knows the Illusions stuff, he was going to record it with them before he was fired, so he probably came up with alot of the drum parts himself. The only problem is, would he be dependable enough to do such a thing?
I think it's a big thing that they brought him in, and not Matt Sorum to play a show with.

What people aren't taking into account here, is that Appetite almost failed as an album even back then. They went out on tour opening for Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden and Aerosmith, and only sold 100,000 copies in like the entire first year, while being on one of the biggest record labels at the time. That was a failure for a band getting that kind of major label push. If not for MTV playing the Jungle video one time, and then it taking off, the record label would have probably pulled the plug on them soon after that. The album however, would have probably become a cult classic, as great music does have a tendency to stand the test of time.
If it was released now? I'm not even sure a record label would sign a bunch of wasted drug addicts in todays music industry. The recording would sound different, the band members would have more modern influences, and it wouldn't have the same subject matter. And they wouldn't look like that either nowadays, they would all probably have short emo haircuts or something, it would be bad. . . .

What would he do, sing the songs an octave or two lower?

My song choice would be Set Me Free, that would have been a perfect GnR song.

You CANNOT change the tuning of a song, and have it sound the same.
I listened to Judas Priest play "Another Thing Coming" live on a video, and the beginning is them chugging in F# minor on the power chord. Well, this show, they had tuned down a whole step to make the song "heavier" and you couldn't even recognize what song they were trying to play.

Hi, my GnR cover band is working on our demo CD, and I'm doing all the vocals, and they sound great, except for one small part. The really LOW part in Sweet Child O Mine, that says "Where do we go? Where do we go now? Where do we go?" I can hit the high notes effortlessly, but my voice has trouble going that low. If someone can record those lines, and send them to me, I would love to put it on my recording.
Any fellow GnR fans care to help me out? Thanks.

The only guy that could even come close to pulling it off is Sebastian Bach, and they kinda burned that bridge when they picked Weiland over him for VR. What exactly were they thinking anyway?

You know what would be funny, to invite Slash over to my house, get him drunk, and have him record solos to all the songs!
I bet those cuts would make their way all over the internet!

Check out our songs on myspace, and tell me what you think, we kinda sound like Iron Maiden, meets Guns N Roses, meets Motley Crue, and bands like that.

I got:
Your Results:
Zakk Wylde
You are Zakk Wylde! You are the guitarist for Ozzy, and have your own project called Black Label Society. You've been voted the Most Valuable Guitar Player a few times, and its for obvious reasons. Your weapon is the pinch harmonic, and you use it in ways never before done. And you drink beer. A lot.
And it's funny that I'm a guitar player that has become a lead singer too.
Kinda similar stuff there.

If I ever see Kid Rap, I'll kick his fucking ass!
That S.O.B. is a talentless P.O.S.
He shouldn't even have long hair, he makes us real rockers look bad.

Ok guys, it's like this
4 string.
E
A
D
G
5 string,
B
E
A
D
G
Basically the five string just has one lower string that's tuned all the way down to B.
It is a really deep sound and some bass amps won't sound good hitting that note.
And I am a musician so I know.

Since you asked. . . .
We sound kinda like Iron Maiden meets Helloween, meets Motley Crue, meets Guns n Roses, meets Metallica, with a touch of Alice Cooper.

Brutal Planet had some killer songs,
But I personally like Dragon Town better.
It has some elements of humor in it that Alice is known for.
Yes, Alice Cooper and Axl are my two favorite singers.
GN'R should be a three guitar player group again - with Slash, Izzy and Richard

For me, GnR is a two guitar band, and always will be.
I actually think Izzy's parts were too sporadic, and didn't fill in the sound enough live. I actually preferred the way Gilby played them live, as he was a more traditional guitarist.
But as for having Fortus, he's a good player, and he works with Slash, so it's fine with me.
