Just saw this story... And I just wanted to say...
When I listened to the podcast, it was Howie who said that Izzy should have been involved in the reunion and paid his worth... Not Izzy himself.
Howie actually says a couple of times "this is my personal opinion"...(that Izzy should be out there getting his share). Howie also says he doesn't know the full story.
Not a big deal... But yeah. Just wanted to clarify what was actually said. 😊

I think he tweeted it to rick Nielsen when he opened his twitter account. I’m sure it was a joke. Even though he is said to own land in Indiana (no avocados grow there though) and his house in California is surrounded by avocado fields. Not his own, I guess. But as usual we don’t know nothing for sure
Ah ok. Thanks for that!
Maybe there's an avocado tree or something in his garden 😂

Thank you so much @Claudia333, you’re awesome!
You're very welcome 😄
Actually, I have a random question...
Does anyone know how we know that Izzy used to be an avocado farmer? Has he mentioned it himself? Or did someone else say it? Like... how did it become public knowledge?
I've just never seen any interviews where he has talked about it, but then I assumed he must have tweeted about it? (I don't have a Twitter account)

Howie said the following things about Izzy:
- said that Izzy is in "great physical condition" probably better physical shape than any of the other GnR guys, even Duff. He seemed to emphasize this fact.
- Said that Izzy is a "very intelligent guy", and very knowledgeable about other things in life, aside from music (also said Duff is very intelligent too)
- Said that Izzy has a new girlfriend, who just moved in with him, and that he's very happy
- Howie also said he just did something for Izzy a few days ago, that he couldn't talk about, and that Izzy didn't know he'd done
- Said he thought Izzy would probably do the podcast. Said he's a bit "aloof" but he doesn't blame him.
- Said he felt that Izzy should definitely have been involved in the NITL tour, and should have gotten paid his proper share, and not been offered less than his worth.
That's pretty much it 😊

I think it's the intense stare and face shape...
Interesting that the social media effort for Izzy's birthday from Duff, Slash etc seemed less this year...
Last year there were messages and rare photos from Meegan and Susan etc... Duff was on time
Maybe they don't bother because they know he doesn't have an Instagram.

Trunk seems kinda of clueless, but often is unless his talking about music in his comfort zone.
And yeah, I was kind of surprised that he didn't seem to know that Izzy had released music online.
Interesting that Eddie said he's going to try and get an interview with Izzy.

I should know better than to just come in and not look back at the last couple of pages. Soooo disappointing it’s not something new, Trunk seems kinda of clueless, but often is unless his talking about music in his comfort zone.
New news that his living out in the desert, so Ojai must be like a recording studio. Palm Springs, is where Matt lives is that area desert?
Yes, it seems to be desert

Hello. Long time since I have been in here, hope everyone’s well. I came across this today. Does anyone know more about trunk is talking about? A new collaboration with Izzy, is this something to do with Matts new band.
Hi!
See the clip I posted a few posts back.
Eddie is just talking about what Matt said in that.
It's not new music. The title is misleading.
Eddie just didn't know that Matt and Izzy had done FP Money together, and didn't seem to know that Izzy had been releasing new music at all in the past few years, and was quite excited about this fact.
Matt and his new band were on Eddie's show, doing a live thing in the Rainbow in LA last week as part of NAMM, and someone prompted Eddie to ask Matt about Izzy.
Matt then just spoke about how they'd done FP Money and spoke a bit about where Izzy lives, how they'd been to each other's houses etc.
Nothing new so far
That's not to say that Izzy won't collaborate with Matt again soon, because Matt did say "he could call me tomorrow...(and we could do a song"...
But so far Matt has only talked about writing new stuff with Deadland Ritual

Thanks for the interview, Claudia. Did Matt say anything else about Izzy?
The spotify thing, I noticed that with other artists, too. I guess it’s due to spotify or legal stuff, not the artists themselves.
I don't think he said much else. For the clip I posted above he said that Izzy is a "very interesting guy". He also said that Izzy called him to see if he wanted to do FP Money, and that Matt went to Izzy's Ojai place to talk about it.
There is a much longer interview with Matt and his new band Deadland Ritual that I haven't listened to all of yet.
And thanks for the Spotify info too

Also, while I'm here, random question about Izzy's music...
Why do certain albums of his appear, disappear and then reappear on Spotify or (I'm assuming) other streaming services?
Some albums seem to be there all the time, whereas others, like the Fire album, aren't. They come and go.
Does the artist have anything to do with which of their albums are available? Or not at all?
It's probably a silly question, but I honestly have not much idea about it

How would you and other fans interpret this: "lives out in the desert" ? Is this an indication of specific part of Los Angeles?
I take it to mean that he doesn't live in LA or really that close to it. That he lives in a fairly remote location.
Matt also says that he himself "lives out in the desert" and then says he lives in Palm Springs.
Palm Springs is a couple hours drive out of LA. On the edge of the Joshua Tree National Park.
So...It's not really a specific indication. It's very vague. Could be anywhere really.

Matt Sorum was on Eddie Trunk's show yesterday and spoke about Izzy briefly. Here is the clip.
The title is misleading because it's not new music.
They're talking about Matt recording FP money with Izzy.
He also says that Izzy "lives out in the desert" and also has a place in Ojai.
Not super interesting, but it's recent at least.

Just saw the Matt Sorum interview on the GnR Central channel on YouTube ... And underneath in the comments, someone flags to Sid that there's a new Izzy story in the media... the Niven story... about Izzy showing up to a soundcheck and then leaving.
GnR Central reply with this: "yep, already up on my blog... I also have more information that I can't talk about Izzy showing up (to the soundcheck)"
The user replies asking if they'll share this extra info soon, and they say "nope".
So I guess this confirms the Niven story about him showing up?
And now I'm wondering what other information they have?

Some nice bits in the interview, I can never quite work out if I like Niven or not, he has that no fucks attitude were he says as he sees it, which I admire, but on the flip side It never sits comfortably with me when people give an opinion on somebody that they admit to not having seen for years.
The whole sound check thing was odd, so Izzy turned up but it didn't go well? I have a hard time believing that, I'm sure it's one of those Chinese whispers type thing and Izzy was in much earlier in the game. I think Steven would have alluded to it some how if it was as Niven suggests. His speculation that Izzy is pissed off about the whole thing doesn't bode well, I just can't help feeling for every tentative step Izzy makes back into the public eye his surrounded by crazyness and everything he hates about the industry and retreats further.
I always forget just how fu*ked up these guy's were, it always is a bit of a jolt when people talk about how much of a struggle it was just keeping them alive back in those days. I get the under current of anger that comes across in Niven, when he talks about the break down in relationship with Axl, if you think about the amount of time and energy he invested above just being the band manager.
Anyway good stuff, I have to say I did fast forward in parts. 😉
I do agree. Yes, great interview. And you're right, when he said "well, none of them died"... Yeah. Brings it home a bit
I enjoyed hearing about Izzy and how he's doing. I did listen to most of it, but thanks so much for breaking it down with times @zoot.

Partially that and because we know the ginger is possessive over his lead guitarist.
Izzy is a strong, independent avocado farmer and needs no one.
😂😂😂 Strong independent farmer 😂
Loving this thread lately.

Of course it is!! I can't understand people asking "would he do that?" Of course he would!! For guys who wear condoms in bottles in an TV interview, pose with an open zipper exposing the pubic hair and other "indecencies", what's the surprise?
Exactly. You make a good point!

Wth?!? I have seen this photo so many times... And I've been reading this thread going "noooo. I don't see it"
Then bam! I saw it!
And now - Well I can see it being both an optical illusion. But also... Not.
Probably anything is possible from that era...

It hasn't quite started yet.
Very soon though they're coming on stage.
Red carpet was done earlier

Fire has disappeared though.

Supposedly she hooked up with Matt Sorum, Steven and Slash after that tour. I'm pretty sure the only GNR guy she hasn't been with is Axl & Izzy.
Who is Roxana?

When Susan was on the AFD podcast recently she definitely said that Slash was on one of the Westies songs.
She said something like "never heard before songs from Duff... And Slash... He's on one of them too"
