Anyone kind of disappointed with the quality of the mix ? Slash guitar is way too loud, the drums are way in the back... I don't know if it's just me but they theoretically have this in multitracks

Thought the same while watching the video on yt and listening to the show on a regular stereo system... but then I put on my headphones and Izzy was there, although not as loud as Slash.  The drums sound fine to me

People also kind of forget the mindset of a lot of 90's albums seemed to be including as many songs as possible to fill CD space. It might not all be the best material but including 14-17 songs made it a value for people buying albums at a time where album sales were still important to the music industry. There's a lot of albums from that era that had 60-75 minute runtimes where previously it'd be 9-12 songs with a 40-45 minute runtime.

Exactly, that's the reason. Get a Grip, Vodoo Lounge, Made in the Shade, etc. Lots of album which could've been better with less songs, but that was the common practice in most rock bands in the late 80s and 90s.

To me, there are a couple of fillers on UYIs: Shotgun, Get in the Ring, You ain't and So Fine...

And of course, Axl's mushroom trip

I have to say, they did a much better job here than I expected. Okay, granted, my expectations were less than nothing. But still!

I'd say both the vinyl and cd super deluxe editions are cool sets and fairly priced.

The material seems cool and I'm curious about November Rain too.

The different formats they're offering seem a lot better than with the AFD release as well.

Much better content-to-crap ratio than the AFD box. By which I mean less fake memorabilia and expensive boxes and more music. Good.

I still have a few gripes though:

    - The regular UYI 1 and 2 deluxe editions offer material that isn't on the super deluxe edition. That kinda bothers me because it feels like they're making hardcore fans buy both and that's just lame.

    - No demo's. Really a big shame! Yes, we all wanted live material for AFD. But man would it have been nice to do a good mixture of both.

    - Why go 4k only to scale it down to 1080p? That just makes no sense.

Either way, these are cool releases.

100% agree. Ain't goin down should've been included....

But somehow, we are finally getting (on the 2 cd edition) the real Live Era, at least from 91-92. It may not be a perfect representation but it comes much closer than the 99 album by including the intros, solos, specific songs not so well known -at least by the more casual listeners....

IMO, this is a better release than the AFD

Sorry if this has been covered. The albums have been remastered but not remixed. Can we expect it to sound any different, other than brickwalled?

    Nah.

I expected a remix, never liked the way the drums sound... But I know that's asking too much, most bands don't do that...

I just hope it sounds like the AFD remaster, which, by nowadays standards, is pretty decent (not extremely brickwalled and compressed)

I didn't include Salt Of The Earth or Mixed Emotions because that was Axl/Izzy guesting with the Stones, and not GNR covering them.

Apparently Axl and Izzy jammed with some members of The Cult (including Matt) in 1989 and did a bunch of Stones, Aerosmith and Sabbath covers... but there's no recording of it. Only a few photos from that show:

If anyone Is interested, last year the Stones released "Steel Wheels Live" from Atlantic City. Salt of the Earth w/Axl & Izzy is on that album (available on Spotify)
