  1. Anyone a fan of the hives?

The Hives speak of album frustrations

'It's like making 'Chinese Democracy'' says Howlin' Pelle Almquvist

The Hives have spoken about the frustrations they've encountered trying to release their new album.

The band were speaking to NME.COM from the Benicassim festival in an exclusive video interview.

Singer Howlin' Pelle Almquvist explained: "Sometimes it feels like we're making 'Chinese Democracy'," referring to the long-delayed Guns N Roses album, for which recording began in 1999 and is yet to be completed.

"It was recorded in seven or eight studios, so it's going to sound different [to previous work]," added drummer Chris Dangerous.

  2. Led Zeppelin to reunite?

Led Zeppelin are in talks to reunite for a memorial concert.

The band are apparently in discussions to reform for a one-off gig in London for their late record boss Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

It is thought singer Robert Plant guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will re-group alongside late drummer John Bonham's son Jason for the gig.

A source close to the band said: "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date.

"And no one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out."

The band have only performed a handful of concerts since they split in 1980, including Live Aid in 1985.

"It has been hoped for and denied for years," the source told World Entertainment News Network. "But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year."

  3. I liked it. Dont know why he would put a cover on his album.

Im guessing that he was asked to play for gnr as the new man but Axl went with bbf at the last min, and this is perhaps showing the world what he could have sounded like!

  4. Im quite a fan of unique cover versions. Im sure some of you are too. Ok, most covers are no where near as good as orignals but some covers are interesting never the less.

If anyone has got any interesting 'big bands' covering famous songs then how about get a thread going?

I'l start (remember not to post 'legal' stuff. Live versions or bootlegs only)

    1. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) covering The Cure's 'lullaby'. 1994 U.S tour.

    Page & Plant - Lullaby

  5. One of my favorite bands of all time. So much dark emotion that I can relate to.

Disintergration is my favorite album of all time.

Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me another great album the title track 'Kiss Me' rocks so hard!

Porl Tompson the Cures best guitarist wrote the guitar part to 'lullaby' and went on to tour with page and plant!

Useless fact for you there, but im such a mega fan!

  6. Thw who debut album is as good..even better than Helicopter!

Not all the songs are as punky and as fast as Helicopter mind. But 'silent Alarm' is a diverse sounding album.

'Positive tension' is my favorite song.

  7. I miss you and Wish you were here are tunes! Great lyrics set to catchy pop-rock music, the way it should be done.

Its a shame that thier other songs dont come close to these two. Even melogamaniac

  8. the day this fucker comes out im going to be 1st in my store! pick it up, skive college..and just come home and play it at full volume all fucking day and night!

ive never felt this way about any album ever b4!

  9. its funny how some of you are surgesting how 'good friends' they are considering axls bashing of him during the 2001/2002 tour and including that whole boston rant about izzy just been to wasted to play any good at shows!

sometimes makes me think infact uncle axl is a double jive talker!

  10. If you love meds and havent heard anything else then wow your going to end up a big placebo fan!

Meds is their worst album. Its good but they were better when they were younger, had more energy and didnt care about offending people. sadly now thier attitude is declining and thier becomeing much better behaved!

The live in paris dvd will simply blow you away though!

  11. Forget, the gutiar..we all know the greatest solos and riffs but what about basslines and bass riffs? what are the most stonking rocking, off all time.

    My top 5

    1.Led Zeppelin-Achallis Last Stand

    2.Aerosmith-Back In The Saddle

    3.Guns n' Roses - Rocket Queen

    4.The Jam- Precious

5.The Clash -The Guns Of brixton
