  1. Seriously, I feel like I am filling out a medical form, not on the GNR forum anymore...This new site look sucks!

Interesting. What's your diet like? Is your waste matter blue and grey? Is it in straight lines with PRINT on it? That is AMAZING, K-man! You're a medical miracle!!! Seriously, dude are you reading a lot of books about the Civil War? The body can only take so much blue and grey. :tongue2:

In all seriousness, I like the new look. More professional and businesslike. Looks bigger-league than the old one, IMNSHO.

Edit...I misread your post...thought it said "looks like shit"...sorry, K! My bad!

  2. If they are doing it in 2006, releasing it before Thanksgiving is the best business move. In the US the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year, and it is insane. Businesses go from in the red into the black on that one day. Hence 'black Friday'. If not then, just wait til 2007.

Black Friday is still the day most businesses go into the black, but it's no longer the biggest shopping day. The Saturday before Christmas has become slightly more lucrative than Black Friday over the past few years, and the margin is widening slightly each year, although it's still relatively slim. Black Friday is still the big "traditional" day, however, albeit second in terms of actual sales.

  3. I thought the article was dead on. We are a tiny percentage of the Gn'R fan base. Sure, we're more dedicated, but PLEASE don't think the band needs us.

We account for a very small percentage of their sales, too.

In addition, my employers pay me. If they show me disrepect, then I will give it back, and I have. MANY posters have been disrespectful, and this is your receipt.

Grow up. Life's hard. Stop whining, get off your ass, and live a life.

Sorry if that's too harsh, but people with ANY sense of entitlement, whether it's for food/clothing/shelter, nonmutual respect, or apologies, just piss me off. They drag the whole species down.

  4. Artfromtex....it's actually a pretty common misconception. Sanctuary Group is it's own company. Sanctuary Publishing, Sanctuary Records (Tommy's label, in fact) and Sanctuary Management are all subsidiaries of Sactuary Group, which is, I believe, UK based.

Geffen Records is a subsidiary of Interscope, which is in turn a subsisdiary of Universal Music, which is a subsidiary of MCA/Universal, a huge company that I believe is based in the US.

The two companies are totally separate and in no way related. It's a common confusion, since they're both subsidiaries of subsidiaries, but there is no overlap.

  5. Sanctuary has put ZERO dollars into the album. That's Interscope.

This is not necessarily negative! I'm speculating and dreaming, but it COULD be that tour dates are booked, so promoters can now take over the promotion. The album could well be in the hands of Interscope, and they will be the ones to promote that. Maybe Merck is devoting his time to Guns without the pressure of heading up Sanctuary...if the album is close to release, then this is a good time to work with them exclusively!

The publishing rights ARE owned by Sanctuary Group, so that's a question, b ut that shouldn't affect release of material.

  6. Aside from gnr I've given Giant Robot, Bucketheadland and Monsters And Robots a try.

I've heard stuff from those...interesting, fun, technically brilliant and far-out, but it didn't arouse deep emotional response from me as a listener....his mellow albums, Colma and Electric Tears, did, though...so totally different...relaxing...even moving.

You might wanna give those two albums a try, username....not because you should change your mind about Bucket, but because I think you might enjoy the music. :)

  7. The pix are pretty funny...I think what annoys people is that we've pretty much all seen 'em before, and we think we may be about to see or read something new when we click the topic.

No big deal either way, really....just an annoyance.

    I do have to say...I'm a self-professed Axlite....the more I look at these the funnier they are. It's a quality time-waster!

The fake I really like is the "One-man-band Axl" from a few years back. That one killed me!

  8. It's funny...I took the "I hope so" remark differently than most seem to have....I took it as Ron, after a rough night, trying to sound encouraging to a fan..as in, "I hope you can make it to another show".

We may never know why he had a rough night, we may find out tonight, they may play tonight and have a normal, fun show and never address what happened, if anything even did.

  9. Can anyone fathom that Ron might have just been feeling sick? Hence his lackluster playing, trips backstage etc. ?

This is also pretty likey, IMO. Good point. The Gn'R fan paranoia is in full swing with some, it seems!!!

    /Mike

  10. This is ridiculous.

Number 1, it was one guy who said he saw a punch. He said that Ron punched Richard. No one else reported anything like it. Other people misread/misquoted, and that's how the Robin thing started. There is probably no validity to this.

Number 2, if it was a falling out or if Ron had been dismissed, then I don't see Axl putting his hands on Ron's shoulders to comfort him, as he did during the show.

Number 3, someone else wrote that they saw Ron go backstage and discuss things with a sound or guitar tech! If his equipment was having issues, then it's no wonder he was down/disappointed.

It seems to me that Ron was having a bad day, tech issues (especially considering that he apologized to a fan after the show for "not playing well") and was just taking it hard. Axl's attempt to comfort him, albeit seemingly unsuccessful, tell me that there is no rift.

Ron seems to be a guy who takes his contributions to the fans very seriously, and personally as well.

  11. Why do people continue to suggest dates THAT AREN'T TUESDAYS??

They come out on Mondays in the UK...I don't really buy the date yet, but I work in radio and have heard some November rumblings...although they are most likely based on rumor. Nothing official has been made known yet...really just what I would call "semi-educated speculation".

Summing up...Who the hell knows??? It's as likely as anything we've heard...

  12. Sanctuary Group has nothing to do with gnronline. That's run by Universal/Interscope/Geffen, and they control the content.

    Mike

Edited to fix a grammatical error I made....

  13. I'm the haiku-posting guy at HTGTH, but I wanted to say that I respect this forum, too...Eric has always done a great deal of work as a Gn'R fan to provide a place for other fans to discuss the band and share opinons. Our primary boards may have their differences, but what happened here was NOT cool, totally unconscionable, in fact, and I'm happy to see the board back. I don't understand some people's childish, wasteful and destructive impulses, but Eric and everybody else involved really did an outstanding job keeping cool and dealing with the problem.

    Well done, and welcome back.

Hope this thread isn't too repetitive...merge if it is, mods! Take care and happy Gunning... rock3

  14. I was 15 when Appetite came out, and I got it almost as soon as it was released. Gn'R was, and has been, my favorite band for almost 20 years. I supported the old band and was very disappointed when original members left. That said, the music remains, whoever plays it. The new band is a great group of songwriters and musicians, and they will maitain the legacy proudly.

The new band IS Guns n' Roses, and the reason is simple: Axl Rose owns the name, and he decides who Gn'R is. Not you, not me, and certainly not the past, however glorious.

Gn'R is back..you can say they're not, but, from a simple legal standpoint, you're incorrect.

    /Mike
