No man, please, send those to me. I would like to compare Monsters with it, because I didn't find much of it on YouTube.

You’re really going to waste a minute of your life doing this? Why? Who gives a shit about some crappy orchestrations for songs that suck. Is this what your life has been reduced to? Go out and get laid!

I don't think State of Grace needs a solo. I like the guitars as they are. And the vocals in the second half are mind-blowing. Not very easy to hear what he is singing, so a new vocal take would probably be needed.

How the hell are you calling a mumbled mess of vocals “mind-blowing”? You probably think Oh My God is better than Paradise City. Come on…admit…you like shitty songs like State of Grace.

I guess you're an AFD fan and probably think GNR had to stay within that album's range of style for subsequent releases. And nothing wrong with your opinion really. Mind you, songs like Estranged, Don't Cry, The Garden are all miles away from AFD as well.

But I personally prefer to see progress in the musicians I follow. In my opinion, we don't need every rock band to follow ACDC's path if you know what I mean. Though it's always cool for a band to revisit the old days every once in a while like Metallica's Death Magnetic.

If by progress you mean an album that flopped and a new musical direction that broke up the band, sure some call that progress, I call it poop.

The history of the recordings and the reasons as to why Axl can’t seem to release music in the 2nd half of his career are far, far more interesting and engaging than any of the music itself.

hell, this fan-forum, the people within it, the conduct and the lore surrounding the new releases is FAR more entertaining and fascinating than any of the actual songs.

tale wagging the dog. Looking forward to a few critical listens and then never really listening to any of it ever again, just like Hard Skool and Absurd.

    This!

The most entertaining thing about this band is all the chumps thinking it will be 1991 again and Axl will sound good and the band will put on high energy shows with a great crowd and hit songs galore.

We are those chumps! Keep it up people.

There's this one song called 'Sorry' that's almost like doom metal with Axl singing really clean over this grinding, slow beat that is fucking mean,' says Bach. 'I cannot get it out of my head.'" (Rolling Stone, 10/18/06)

Sorry was almost perfect...if not for some of the lyrics - it turns that song into almost a diss track like Get in the Ring. I love the mood of "Sorry", I really hope he has more songs like this in the bag and it's not just a one-off. This I Love could have been great as well but I think it's let down by the lyrics and the opera-esque theatrical mood/vocals. Just too melodramatic. A review once described it as Andrew Lloyd Weber-esque which I think is the perfect description.

The one song that came out of nowhere and was a surprise for me was "If the World". It's not perfect (that weird 70's porn riff) but it's a cool little song that flew under the radar a bit. I think it was one of the best songs on CD.

Sorry and ITW are throw away tracks. GN’R is rock n roll man!  Better and Chinese D are the only two tracks on CD really worthy of GNR name and those songs HIT HARD the way GNR should.

  6. 15 years since Chinese D and all we get are remixed tracks that sucked 20 years ago. What a band!

The General is going to suck and if it was good Axl would have wanted it out. Another meandering mess of a song.

Perhaps has some interesting parts but the Chorus is another mumbling mess that nobody can sing along to or relate to.

I don't know who is on this, and I thought Brain's drums on Absurd were great, but it's hard to beat Josh Freese. He just tears into everything with such energy and good taste. There's a reason he's probably now the world's best session drummer.

This just it...the DRUMS on the DEMO were so much better.  Something about this new version just isn't hitting...but cue the GN'R apologists who weren't even around when GN'R made amazing studio material.  All of my friends who grew up with GN'R are literally laughing at these last 2 "singles"....

It’s simply amazing how people were bitching that the village version sounded unfinished and now they are bitching that we got finished and polished final product.

I loved the demo but it was not a song that was ready to release. New version kicks ass

Dude they ALL SOUND unfinished.  Does nobody own AFD or UYI?  Go listen to a properly mixed GN'R SONG and then listen to this stuff.  It's a cut and paste hack job of a song that's 22 years old.   This is not a band that got in the studio and made this song...it's Axl telling them "whatever, do something with this..."

Let me guess, you’ve now listened to it once? Probably after listening to a shoddy (audio wise) demo 10,000 times the last few years. Give it a few more listens, your ears will likely adjust and you’ll end i up actually liking it.

No dude I’ve listened to it back and forth with the Demo 10x. It just hits so much softer and has none of the punch.  Axl should have released this song the way he wanted it.  Slash trying to play over bucket riff at the end is laughable.  The GNR apologist these days suck.  This is another shitty cut and paste job.  So the band never got into the studio together?  That’s so lame.

At this stage Slash is the star of the show. Axl is the leader but Slash now delivers consistently. The song's energy comes from him.

Slash it’s great to have you on the forum!
