you seem to be under the impression that TB can influence Axl into releasing music. I don't think anyone can tell Axl what to do, especially when it comes to new music. in a way, they are just a reflection of what Axl wants. it's like this cause this is how Axl prefers it to be.

Gn'R sells nostalgia, and as long as they play SCOM and the hits, they're pretty much good to go. they don't need to release new music, though I would love it if they do of course. it's not the main product they are selling and hasn't been for quite a while now.

I never thought that TB can convince or influence Axl to release new music, but as a management team they can convince him to do such small thing for the fans it's the bare minimum

You’re absolutely right, of course. They are terrible at this. But I was gonna say "mind you, you should expect the local forum police coming at you soon with such stuff as they don’t owe us anything, people just keep complaining, move on, etc." – and voila, there you go.

There’s undoubtedly loads of material that could be released, even if in some inferior Youtube quality, but Axl just won’t release old stuff, and TB - the so-called management team - are living the golden life, so why would they rock the boat by nagging him about anything.
    At least we have bootlegs...

Lucky us! I was listening last summer's Paris show IEM sound on youtube and it's pretty cool. And that Whiskey '86 show...what a treat! I wish that Axl could see that the band needs a real manager or a management team and let's hope when CD era comes to an end TB is going home for good.

Because people are interested even when they don't. You mentioned Bon Jovi and this reminded me of a quite from Jon Bon Jovi regarding Axl back in the early 2000s when Axl did nothing at all still was hugely popular:

So we can complain however much we want to, whether his strategy is deliberate or not, he has managed to keep GN'R popular and interesting despite doing very little to please the fans. Maybe because he is inaccessible and mysterious.

Off course they're still popular but that doesn't mean that they can rely on that forever, it's getting silly. You don't do the vault thing to regain popularity but to keep the interest of your fanbase and the average rock/metal while you're not touring/recording/releasing music.

  4. I can't remember if that was brought up in this thread before, but why the actual fck it's so difficult for this band and that thing its called TB do some stuff to keep peoples interest in the band? Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Motley Crue are doing this vault thing were they upload stuff from their archives (photos, documents, tour stuff, contracts etc) and it's great, you see stuff that you never thought you'll ever see. I'm sure Axl has almost everything from 1985 till this day just getting dusty in his garage. Also it would be a great chance for all the AFD guys to work together even if it's not music but to celebrate in a way the bands legacy. The 40th anniversary of GN'R is on the way and it would be great for such thing to happen.

  5. As a big fan of the 80's Hard Rock scene I would die to see two of my ultimate fav bands play together. I don't get the hate towards Crue though. The situation with Mick is complicated, they did offer him more money but he never answered back to their offer - John5 is doing an amazing job-, yes Vince isn't in the best shape that he could be vocally but he's a man in his 60's, his system is full of alcohol and drugs and the matter that he still manages to get his ass on a stage it's great (he's been through a lot you can see the pain is his eyes), don't forget you're the same people who criticize Axl about his voice.

Crue are playing LIVE they do have backing tracks for layering and backing vocals (Kiss, W.A.S.P., Def Leppard etc are doing the same) and yes Nikki is playing live. I saw them last summer with Def Leppard in Prague and it was totally live, you could hear mistakes from Nikki here and there, Tommy did lost some beats too. Overall people had great time as much as the band, that's all that matters.

In conclusion I'm totally in for a GN'R-Crue tour.

Excluding solo spots (but not excluding The Godfather theme), Slither is currently GN'R's 33rd most-played song – beating the likes of Yesterdays, Shadow of Your Love, Reckless Life, Pretty Tied Up, and So Fine.

Imagine thinking that 10 years ago...

Not in a million years. When they first played it I was bumped as hell, especially when we learned it was Axl's request. People do really change.

It was mentioned around the time of the reunion that Axl had a lot of material, and he wanted to get it out there before they write actual new material. This makes sense too, as so far it is what we have gotten from the NITL lineup.

That was in the China Exchange Q&A on 2016. I was 15 atm and I was ready to get my teenage ass on a record store to buy the new GN'R album even if it was reworked songs from the CD era. Now we're in 2024, I'm almost 23 and we've only got 4 singles (officially released). I liked them all, some more and some less. These are the first times for me to hear new music from the band when its actually released but their schedule -if there's any- is driving us all mad, especially those of you who were there from the beginning or 90's and onwards.

Riley's L.A. Guns could still continue - Kelly Nickels was a classic era member anyway.

The situation is a bit weird because the version of the band with Steve Riley was the one Phil Lewis was in. But he left that L.A. Guns to make another L.A. Guns with Tracii.

Previously Tracii had his own version that was around at the same time as the one with Phil and Steve in - and both released albums back then too - but Tracii stopped his version for a while until he and Phil made a version together.

This situation is a bit complicated actually. Before the band got to record the albums "Tales From The Strip", Tracii left the band and they continued until 2015 when Steve was tired from all the touring and wanted a rest. Tracii started his horrible version of the band around 2008-09 and it was a joke. Around late 2015 a promoter offered Phil and Tracii a good check for a show. The one show became, two became three and it went on and on and on and on and it still goes well. But if Tracii wasn't a douche the band would still have plenty chances of a proper reunion with the classic line-up. For me it's not weird that Kelly Nickels refused his offer to join him and Phil back then but accepted Steve's offer.

I Guess Rileys LA Guns means there are still two bands then? I liked the last LA Guns song I heard with Phil singing, but this sounds very generic, interesting to have some LA Guns GN'R cross over again though.

Nah, they won't be around anymore, the album was released because it was scheduled and they did a scheduled show too as a tribute to him.

The songs on their two releases are mostly generic (Crawl and Overdrive are my ultimate favs from both albums) but they have this classic L.A. Guns groove  that people love and know while Phil and Tracii are going into a more heavy metal path.
