  1. For the people who went to this show, were there scalpers selling tickets outside the venue? I'm thinking about going to the show tonight, at the Wiltern, and just wondering if it would be safe to just drive down there and rely on finding tickets outside.

Friday night yes....There were 2-3 different people that i saw (and I walked by fast) at the corner around 9:30 pm when the line was heavy selling tickets.

  2. It wasnt necessary to have band members promote the album....Giving interviews to radio stations and a few magazines and videos that no one watches pales in comparison to the record label (or Best Buy in this case) promoting it. Wall Mart promoed the hell out of AC/DC and I never once heard from a band member. This was an experiment with Best Buy which had ZERO experience doing this kind of thing and they blew it big time.

The label had little incentive to promo it because they gave the rights over to Best Buy for X amount of months. It was Best Buys responsibility...I know Axl said he doesnt fault them. Best Buy probably assumed it would be in labels best interest to still promote it as label still had rights outside of USA, and im sure there were other incentives thrown into deal to make it worthwhile for both parties to gain if CD sold well in US. But label was happy with Best Buys down payment and were holding a grudge on Axl for past years, so they put there $ and attention elsewhere...End of story.

  3. I work for a Radio Station. There's such a thing as top of the hour in the log we'll play a well known song to get an average listener to tune in thus, you hear like moves like jagger a 100 times.

    CD isn't radio friendly.

This I love, Better, The Blues....All very radio friendly.

  4. I always wondered why Axl never got into Jiu Jitsu, with the whole Brazilian connection. From personal experience, if he trained every day, he'd start looking lean again in 2-4 weeks. This is the type of training that could have him looking lean and slender like the old Axl. Hopefully he lays off the steaks and maybe even hires a nutritionist to get him ready for the US leg.

  5. Some inaccuracies and lots of biases against Axl.

Id guess this written by someone that grew up w/ him in Indiana based

on some of the insider information.

Like how they exclude world wide CD sales, and emphasis the poor US sales.

  6. exactly

i don't understand why anybody even tries to rationalize the whole going on late thing, its just shitty taste

So how do you rationalize: Knowing GNR have a long history of coming on late (99% of the time they are at least an hour + half late),

buying the ticket anyway, then getting pissed off when they, SURPRISE!, are late again?!?!

Logic says if you dont like it and dont want to experience it ,then dont go in the first place. Spread the word.

  7. Not so sure the order was too important..Just the selection...Better did make it to top 15 in rock charts.

SOD and This I Love wouldve worked because POP and ROCK stations wouldve played them.

Sorry has a great hook and if they had any momentum at all wouldve got heavy play on the ROCK stations.

  8. I believe The Blue was supposedly the third single released off of Chinese, following Better and the title track.

What I find interesting, was that all the US radio stations at least gave CD(title track) and Better a decent chance

    with airplay.

Despite the fact that Axl may be to blame for not doing extra promotion, videos, etc. The first two single I believe

made it to the top 20 ROCK singles chart here in the US.

My theory is Azoff didn't truly even release The Blues to radio stations. It was never played (except the random

station that perhaps the DJ liked the song). Do managers/promoters still send physical copies of a single

to stations? Id be curious to know why the sudden 100% "black ball" strategy by radio stations from this point forward.

Granted a lot of DJ's in this country were critical of CD, but at least they played the first two singles half-assed.

  9. Reminds me of them at the LA forum around 1991.

During intermission Id estimate the camera showed at least 15-30 different

women stripping/flashing...And they were super hot (at least back in the day!)

  10. Any person with a 5th grade level IQ should be able to deduce there's a good possibility someone in security

at this concert took it upon themselves to assume Axl didn't want any Slash t-shirts, perhaps due to all the previous

rumours. By the time it reaches Mr Security guy, he either assumes or makes up that Axl himself said it (perhaps to

cover his ass). Security does have a job to prevent a potential disaster, and this could have easily been their call.

Either way, whatever happened, its a moderators obligation to uphold some responsibility as to what gets reported

as "fact" and what may actually not be fact.

Doesnt mean the next concert securities gonna let you idiots wear your Slash t's.
