  1. How many of you even read the article? He says they are comparable on terms of recognition, and the sense that when you go and see them live you know what you'll be getting, they are also similar in that despite declining album sales they can still fill stadiums without breaking a sweat. They have ceased to be relevant to current music, but are still a popular band with dare I say it, a nostalgia orientated fanbase.

    Perfectly valid comparison.

  2. Word around the campfire is we will have to sign confidentiality agreements (lucky I haven't signed mine yet!) which has never happened before. This could well just be gossip circulating around management but hey we live in hope.

But how does it usually work, I mean don´t the stores have to order the albums to actually be recieving shipments or does this work automatically with big new releases and you have the same ammount every time? I only worked at a small record store and we always ordered what records we wanted to get in to the store. If that´s the case here then someone at HMV MUST know. Please enlighten me.

As its a large company then some records will be released regardless of whether the management want it to be or not. (If we had it our way half the crap peddled these days would be burnt before it even reached the shevles!)

  3. hmmm this sounds pretty credible. If other stores can confirm they are getting shipments, this could be awesome news.

what youd have to confirm is if other places are getting a supposed shipment of cds by a band called far downs which doesnt exist...

Well we have warehouse facilities which are used to supply CD's, DVD's etc(VAT Free) around to other HMV stores, we are recieving it first.

  4. Hello, I am deputy manager of HMV Guernsey, 2 hours ago I recieved a phone call from the manager (also a big GNR fan) telling me that we will be recieving a shipment of an album allegedly titled "Blue Tree's and Greem Grass" by a band called Far Downs on Wednesday afternoon for a November 20th release. (More on this later)

This is a fairly large shipment we are recieving, ie it is the identical size shipment of the recent Girls Aloud Greatest Hits (sales are relative across seas folks, not to scare American fans). Not out of the ordinairy, but I know, as well as the next music fan does that no such band exists.

We believe that this is in fact Chinese Democracy and that the title is simply a smoke screen, our distributor can tell us no information other than the title and the pallets (containing both advertising stuff as well as the CD) cannot be opened until November 19th.

So if I'm wrong shoot me, if I'm right praise be to HMV.

  5. My Dad's 45, he's got hair longer then Axl's used to be n' no gray or signs of balding at all. But, then again he's Indian so that might be one reason...

Goes to prove that Axl ain't bald.

Patrick Stewart was 19 when he lost his hair, so age isn't really that important. (Its like 5% age, 5% stress and 90% production of testosterone)

  6. The new album is mint, there isnt a stinker on it. Only problem with Oasis at the moment is Liam's tempremental voice. But if hes sober, there is no touching the man.

    1.Definitely Maybe

    2.Be Here Now

    3.Whats the story

    4.Don't Belive The Truth

5.Standing On the Shoulder Of Giants (Great album)

    6.Heathen Chemistry (Shit album)

  7. Won't let You Down is a fair effort as well. Ive only heard about 30 seconds of eyeball tickler so I couldn't say.

I would have gone to the Newcastle gig but I've got no money. Where are you headed?

  8. Just downloaded let there be love, and all I can say is why was fucking lyla the first single.

Noel wasn't kidding about the last 30 seconds of Guess God thinks I'm abel.

The whole album is well worth investigating. It's a killer.
