    axl

Some ppl just get a little bitter.  It's alright I have nothing against him.  Anyway, lets get back on the topic, no one has yet to answer some of my questions.

    axl

This might be a bit broad but i just wanted to get a few things off my chest about axl rose.

First, I just wanted to ask whether or not the sound effect in the beginning of WTTJ is axl's voice, or a sound effect.  You probably know what I'm talking about (it sounds like a frikin train and I'll be damned if it is in fact axl making that impossible banshee wail).  I know he looks like hes making the sound in the music video, but is it really him?  I never thought sounds like that could be hollered by humans.

Second, I just wanted to discuss and get some insight on the changes in axl's performances over the years.  In the 80s axl used to perform differently than later on in his career.  Watch WTTJ and u can see that he uses his mic stand a lot and does his sweet dance moves whereas more recently he prefers to run around more.  I personally dont prefer one over the other but I thought it was worth mentioning and if anyone knows when he decided to change his style, I'd appreciate your comments.

Third, I heard that axl had some beef with jon bon jovi in the past.  I read that it was cuz someone told axl he looked like jon and he didnt like it too much (I really dont know why he took that to offense).  Is this the reason?  Anyway, who thinks they look alike?  I have to say that I do see somewhat of a resemblance.

Fourth, axl is notorious for having a lot of different looks.  I personally liked him best when he was clean-shaven without his front hair layered.  He looked gorgeous during the "appetite" and "lies" days (dont worry, im not gay, just observant).  What do you guys think, how do you like your axl?

That was just some random stuff I was thinking about during this news-drought.  I'd appreciate lots of comments.

    Peace!

  1. Personally, I don't remember much cuz I was born in '85.  I think it was a much better era than the new millenium so far because it really stood out on it's own.  From what I've seen, the 80s had a unique style that was distinct and I'm really disappointed to have missed out on such a special time.  As I said before I probably don't know as much as the ppl who actually "lived" through the 80s (unlike me, who was still a mere baby in awe of the music and people).  So heres a topic for all you not-so-old-timers who won't mind rewinding a bit back into the hair-metal era.  Tell us younglings more about the music (particularly GnR) and the people cuz I'm curious.

    Thanks

  2. If it were true Ted, more ppl would know about it and would be going nuts right about now.  Plus, I dont think Slash would approve of 'Oh My God' because he never wanted anything to do with that song to begin with.

No disrespect or anything but that rumour post was meaningless.

  3. I think a lot of people are confused in their wording of 'fat'.  Axl is noticeably bigger than he was in the past because he was really thin back then.  He is pretty normal now and it's just ludicrous to refer to his physique that way.  He is in great shape and all that running around during concerts just proves how healthy he is.  There is no other showman today who can put on a show like Axl can and everyone knows it.  Fat people can't do things like that.

    Peace

  4. That isn't the greatest pic.  Anyway, I think hes lost a lot of weight since then cuz he looked pretty thin in Toronto.  Hey silverrose, you should download some videos of rock in rio 3.  He looks great there.  As far as facelifts go, I think people are just jumping to conclusions.  It's just cuz his skin is very clean and white and his eyebrows have faded (maybe dyed).

On another note "The Blues" in Rio is probably the most amazing performance of a song I've ever seen of any band.   It's perfect studio quality.  I strongly recommend that you download it NOW!

    Peace

  5. I never knew Axl had such a wide young female fan base.  At the Toronto concert I swear I saw some really young female teens who were going crazy for him and 50-year-old women doing the same.

Do you think Axl had any flings during this tour or did he change his ways since the late-80s and early-90s.  On another note I found it hilarious when I showed a picture of Axl in the 80s to a friend of mine and his first response was "she's hot" (not knowing it was a guy).  It was a picture where he had the poofy hair and makeup.

  6. Thank you silverrose for your comments.  It's nice to see that other people understand what I was trying to get at because Axl has had it hard lately.  I also totally agree with Kiana because in some ways, Axl is like a family member who is going through problems.  We can critisize him and grow angry at him for his actions, but we can't abandon him because we love the guy.

    Peace

  7. I wasn't aware of slash's baldness, is this really true?  Anyway, Axl's hair was never that thick but it looked the same as it always had in RIR3.  The braids and extentions will only put more pressure and weight on his head so i hope he doesnt feel pain up there.

How old are you anyway silverrose?  Age doesn't make too much of a difference these days, maybe you can get a backstage pass next time Axl goes on tour and get with him.  The guys only 40 years old (still pretty young, look at Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger for God sakes) and in peak condition.  He really needs someone special to look out for him these days. ;)

  8. While we're all eagerly anticipating more news on whats going on with all of this tour controversy, I thought I would shift the tides a bit and talk about Axl's looks, which have obviously been discussed before.

To be honest, I think he looks great.  I could do without the braids though because they have really altered his original image.  There's nothing really wrong with them, but I wanna see Axl back with his straight hair.  For those of you who say he looks so much different now, its probably cuz of the braids more than anything else.   If you watched RIR3 he looks a lot like he did in the "Paradise City" video with the small exception of his weight (which looks more like muscle than fat).  He has amazing white and youthful looking skin which may have been the result of laser resurfacing (not surgery) or perhaps not.  All in all, he looks really healthy and I hope he finds it in his heart to make a huge comeback in the near future.

    Peace out

  9. Thanks for the compliment rockerman but I think you misread it a little.  I said that I do have faith in Axl.  The message is for the people who "supposedly" hate Axl but dont truly understand why.

I'd also appreciate more responses cuz I see that there are many ppl who have read my message.

  10. I say it because it's true.

Some haters are just gonna have to face facts and come to terms with why they are haters to begin with.  Axl broke your heart in some way and if you never liked him before, you shouldnt be heart broken.  In some way, all GNR fans feel like they have a relationship with the notorious frontman who proceeds to screw things up for us continuously.  The fact is, Axl doesn't do it intentionally to piss anyone off.  Sh*t happens just like they do in a relationship.  All the anti-Axls who can't stop talking about him on the internet are in the worst condition because they loved axl so much to the point that they turned into absolute axl anarchists once he broke their hearts (just like ex's).  If you really gave up on Axl, you wouldn't be sticking around on GNR message boards claiming how much you hate him.  The fact that you actually do hang around here so much means that you still have some sort of faith in him and deep inside still have feelings for the man (not neccessarily in a homo fashion).

I'm not denying that I'm very disappointed with whats been going on lately.  I'm hurt and sad but I still have faith in Axl and will never lose hope because I understand that he is an enigma with deep personal issues that I have learned to accept.  If you hated Axl at anytime in your life, you probably havent understood why you feel that way.  This is the reason why.  You poor guys have had your hearts torn out by someone you love (Axl).  So if you really dont like Axl anymore, move on (its the healthy way).  And if you can understand him, give him space and have a little patience.  And if your a hater (people with broken hearts), learn to understand your emotions and realize that it isn't Axl you hate, its your obsession with him that you cant escape.

    Peace all

  11. I'm with you CIVILIANS, I never thought it was a marketing plan to begin with but the media is accusing Axl of everything imagineable.  The riots and cancellations werent planned and its just ludicrous to believe that it would be.  But the fact that there is controversy is almost exciting and the fact that it involves Axl Rose leaves a bigger imprint because he is notorious with incidents like these.  I hope nothing else goes wrong with the tour and I wish Axl the best of luck because I'm behind him.  As far as career suicidal, Axl has worked too hard to purposely pull any crap.  He's gonna get his masterpiece record out into the 21st century jungle and re-establish his place on top of the music mountain (I hope).  Only time will tell but until then, all we need is just a little patience.

  12. These are the wise words of someone who knew what the hell they were talking about!

I know what's going on with all the controversy and chaos and to tell you the truth, I feel really sorry for the few sane people at the Philly concert who payed their dues to get to see GNR on that fateful night.

So what are people doing now?  Theyre going right after Axl like ruthless vultures attacking him from all corners.  Fortunately, the more of this there is, the better it is and I'll explain why.

The legendary axl has a very interesting reputation with the public eye and is one that is very much disrespected and flawed but nonetheless, attractive.  "axl is not a nice man" people say.  "He is a trouble maker, a bad boy, a maniac, a rock and roll legend".  That he is ladies and gentlemen, and this publicity will only affirm his position as the most controversial rock star in history, even at a time and age when music doesnt seem to have as much "attitude" than it has before.  I only hope this news becomes broadcasted in more places so people can see that Axl is back with a vengeance.   But dont get me wrong, Im sure it wasnt intentional and I really dont blame axl for any of it because shit happens, but cuz the media keeps turning things around, why not just flow with it and build up axl's popular rep?  Jeez, ppl these days think Eminem is a bad boy.  Get ready for someone who has the pure badass blood in his system.

As for the Chinese Democracy doubters who dont think its gonna come out, come on, youre just letting your personal feelings get in the way of your cognitive process (thinking).  The album will come out sooner now than later and although it will still take some more time, we all know that we're gonna rush to the store to buy it when it comes out despite some of our negative feelings towards axl.  Afterall, everyone who is on a GNR forum is a GNR fan and while some people hold stiff grudges against Mr. Rose, you all hope hes gonna get his shit together soon and that the delay is why you dont appreciate him right now.

Through it all, I really think this is what GNR needs because lets face it, they are a BADASS band who is supposed to pull crap like this to attain media attention.  I know some ppl are going to fight me on this (or maybe not) but I really do think it holds true and that true GNR fans will always stay beside the band through all the crap.  Even people who are spreading bad news about axl are supporting them because they are feeding the social institution that we all know as the internet.  So if you really hate GNR in the longrun, you better stop posting on the net not for your sake, but for the sake that GNR doesnt become a new age rock and roll monster of a machine that will captivate the world.  If you are a short-term GNR hater who dislikes the actions of the bad man but deep inside loves the band to death, keep posting cuz a forum needs controversy to stay alive.  And lastly, for all you GNR-forever freaks who love them to death no matter what they do, keep doing your thing cuz I'll be doing the same.

    Peace out to all!
