  1. If Axl is trying to distance himself from the past musically

Axl is trying to move forward, but from what I've seen he seems comfortable with his past also. And that's how it should be. GN'Rs past is nothing to be ashamed of, including the part when they opened for Motley back in the 80s.

There's nothing more pathetic than bands who try to deny who they were in order to fit in. That's actually what Motley Crue did throughout much of the 90s (if you go back and read their interviews from the Generation Swine era, they sound just as defensive about their 80s past as you do). It was ridiculous. I think Axl has the balls to push the envelope without denying who he was and where he came from.

  2. why do people keep talking about GN'R touring with motley crue? as far as I know, motley is gonna be co-headlining with aerosmith, and there is just one show where they will be on the same bill as GNR and that's in europe.

That said, considering motley's ability to draw crowds and their broad appeal, it wouldn't be a bad idea for them to tour together.

  3. He's an idiot because he shared an opinion?

You're all a bunch of GNR sheep.

no he's an idiot because he's spewing out random comments about things he, apparently, doesn't know anything about.

He was spewing out "random comments" about the three tracks he has downloaded and listened to, and he told us what HE THOUGHT of them.

Just because he hasn't succummed to the ass kissing contest everyone else here has, and actually posted a bit of negative(yet positive in some respects) criticism on them doesn't make him an idiot.

However, you calling him an idiot for doing just that makes you the idiot, and not he.

and what does it make you mr. hypocrite? he can express his, however misguided, opinion and not be an idiot, but if I express my opinion about him that makes me an idiot .... sure, whatever,

  4. I just checked out Babyshambles on iTunes. Man what a joke :rofl-lol: It's you average alt-rock pussy music. These losers come a dime a dozen. If Axl has schmucks like that opening for him, it would actually be a step down from mixmaster mike or whatever that DJ was.

Alternative rock pussy music is what, like it or not, we call modern music. If the general recption of VR's Contraband shows anything, it's that there just isn't a market for heavy metal anymore. The point you make is a good one, but back-to-front. If Axl has Motley Crue open for him then he will lose the respect of thousands of the new generation of music fans who can't remember the 80s and hence see straight through Motley Crue. They see them as complete jokers.

Even if these new bands are "pussy alt.-rock", they are at least popular at the moment.

What worries me about a GNR-Motley tour is that it will be seen as some sort of anachronism. It will be seen as some sort of nostalgic event. That's exactly what Motley Crue want, because people pining for the 80s is the only way they can get people into their concerts. But it's NOT what Axl wants. His music is top quality and has the ability to appeal to the new generation. He doesn't need some glam rock refugees trailing him and lowering the tone of his comeback!

Dude you're so stuck in the 90s it's not even funny. You need to get out more and see what the kids are into nowadays. I'm 24 and I meet kids still in high school and they are into Motley and Poison. Nobody gives a shit anymore about eMpTyV or Rolling Drone's notion of what is "modern" music. You can either wake up and see what's going on out there, or you can sit in your cocoon and wonder why record sales are dropping all the time and blame it on the internet. I got news for you: your pussy alt music is out, welcome to the 21st century!

  5. no offense... but you people are RETARDED lol

you are starting to all lose some screws in your heads. Do you ever sit down and actually read the stupidities you write @_@

yup, Axl better release the damn album, cuz some people are really starting to lose it. i'm starting to think the full Better is even better than i.r.s.

we can tell your 14 or a fuckin NIN fan!, you never heard of fuckin motley crue?>.

Yeah, I've heard of Motley Crue. I think they are one of the greatest bands in rock history, up there right behind GN'R. So I'd love to see them play wiht GN'R. I think we're on the same page about that, so what's your point?

And I do like NIN, but you're off by 10 years on my age.

  8. The ignoramus who said that all motley have done is tried to re-record the same album obviously hasn't listened to Generation Swine or the Motley Crue '94. Both of those albums were radically different

Anyway, Motely will be co-headlining a tour with Aerosmith later this year, so if they play on the same bill with GN'R it will likely be only at festivals.

  9. Of course everyone wants Slash back, and in a perfect world he is probably the best guy to have from an emotional/technical standpoint, eventhough Bucket kills him technically.

not me, I want bucket back

  10. I played IRS and better to half a dozen coworkers of mine, some old gn'r fans, some not even rock fans, and everyone thought they were amazing! The most frequent responses I got were things along the lines of 'why isn't Axl releasing this already?'

It seems that for the most part it's people with one sort of grudge or another against Axl, and people who are stuck in the past, that are bitching about the demos.

As for TWAT, it is growing on me. The guitar is really good and the chorus is very memorable. Axl does some cool things with his voice. I don't think it's meant to be a single, but it makes for a strong album track, in the style of songs like Breakdown, that you have to listen to a few times to truly appreciate.
