He can still sound like 2010, he just turns it on and off. I always felt this way dating back to the 2001 comeback. Look at the ACDC shows. He was motivated to help his hero Angus. In 2010, he was motivated to promote his magnum opus Chinese Democracy. He's a passionate guy who does what he wants and loses that passion when his mood is shaken. He's bored with Guns.

I'm sure this should go in Archive but I've been waiting for this to surface on youtube. Hilarious Velvet Revolver Stern interview from 2004. Some Slash and Duff comments on the GN'R breakup and NuGNR incarnation. RIP Scott Weiland:

Following these superb AC/DC vocal performances, if Mickey Mouse turns up for the GN'R tour, it is not going to look good. All eyes on the first date which I believe is Detroit June 23rd.
Agree 1000%. I'm more excited for Axl/DC because with Axl/DC, Axl Rose sounds like Axl Rose the entire concert. Reunion shows sounded unrehearsed (of course) and weak. He needs to continue his passionate performances with GN'R to gauge my interest again with the reunion. I bet Duff and Slash have seen the Axl/DC videos and are scratching their heads wondering where that frontman has been.

I'm I the only one still watching? Neil's blowing me away. He's as amazing as ever. Love this dude, and SO pissed I missed him a couple weeks ago.
ANOTHER reason I don't want to hear the age excuse with Axl. Neil is 16 years older and kicking ass!!! Axl is lazy or depressed or both. Doesn't care anymore. That's the problem.
-
None of you fuckers are fans if u continuously bash Axl.
Nonsense. Why should a fan not be allowed to criticize their idols?
Hopefully a true idol Uncle Neil can sit him down and knock some sense in him. Get that fire back. One can hope. Of course, Axl only listens to Axl.

very nice recovery from axl. pulled it all together pretty well
Yes he did!
That was awful. If he doesn't care anymore, he should just quit. Shame because 2010 was not that long ago, the only year he's resembled the Axl of old.
I still will never know what happened to Axl's 2010 rasp.
so axl's lost his rasp and mickey is back? axl's throat blew out too? medical problem?
That was the worst I've ever heard him. I felt bad for the band. Bumblefoot looked embarrassed at the end of Jungle. Worse than 2002. Worse than Rio this year. Just so sad because he was the greatest frontman of all time. I mean, karaoke singers sound better. He must be beyond depressed to be that careless.

Jungle
Axl messed up the words on Jungle
This is hard to watch. He sounds horrid. Again late and totally unprepared. Mickey Mouse.

A question, for Bootleg savvy people here:
What are the best 2002 shows? I mean the shows where Axl sounds the best vocally, for example.
Is this a trick question? There are NO shows from 2002 where he sounds even remotely good. I was at the Boston show and was embarassed for him - partly because of his voice, and partly because of that freakshow guitarist he trotted out on stage.
Yeah, this was a trick question to make all the assworms crawl out of the woodwork, it worked, you posted, I'm sure your vocals are far superior,
Bucket chooses to present his image to the public, that does not take anything away from his musicianship, why doen't you go do something
productive,Like use crazy glue next time you bring out Mr. Winky, that would keep you from the keyboard with your anonymous hater posts.
There are numerous shows from 2002 floating around, most are quite good imo.
You must be a fan of Mickey Mouse since that's who appeared on stage to sing some Guns tunes that year. His voice was TERRIBLE, and we never got an answer as to why. In contrast, his 09-10 voice is probably as good as the UYI years.
100% agree. 2002 was a complete embarrassment. Axl now sounds almost as good as the early 90s.

How has everyone enjoyed the euro tour so far? Firstly I have to say that the venue they played at last night in berlin is second to none. That place is magical. The band are in great shape, still. For the fourth time in 8 days i found myelf lost in the auror that is pearl jam. Black was something special last night and seeing eddie break down after it was really moving. Great performance.
Btw did anyone hear soundcheck? They played loveboat captain, a slow version of lukin and sad. None of which made it to the setlist
Love Pearl Jam. Seen them 10 times. My favorite band.

The timing of this thread is odd. I mean, last night was one of the odd shows where they didn't close with Paradise City, which i think is cool - keeps people guessing.
This I Love - my new favorite live song (replacing Madagascar) was back in the setlist.
They're still playing at least 6 new tracks per night. I saw Pearl Jam last summer, they had a new album, they played *1* song from it!
I also think someone hit the nail on the head when they mentioned GN'R not having played in 10 years or more/never having played at all in some of these countries. They may go for more of a classic lineup compared to Toronto, which got shows in 2002, 2006, and 2010.
If you saw Pearl Jam "last summer", they probably only played *1* song from their new album because it came out at the end of September.

I get a Faith No More vibe on this track. Like "Everything's Ruined" off Angel Dust.
