  2. Wow, incredibly insightful read. You must have been working on that answer most of the day. Very, very much appreciated! :xmasssanta:

A lot of things were much like I had thought they were, but very cool to read such a comprehensive explanation of the things.

You've really done a 360 in everyones eyes during these past few days... From a seemingly recluse frontman to the most insightful, open and honest one ever. Well done!

Hope you and all the GnR family (Dexter and all included) have a good Christmas and the upcoming year(s)! :)

  3. I hope this is the right section... Anyway, my friend has been doing music for quite a time now on different projects and this is one of his own personal endeavours, which I think is quite cool. Take a listen:

If those versions of those songs would be playing in the clubs instead of the originals, I think the world would be a better place. bliix remixes rock. :xmasssanta:

    What do you think? :)

EDIT: You can also find the songs on his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/bliixart

  4. STOP IT. I almost peed myself from the excitement before opening the thread.

    Well, errr, you should?

November 23rd is the official release date.

Billboard and Reuters have reported it for Christ's sake. This is it.

What have you people been smoking, especially the mods? This is fuckin it.

    I'm in denial.

  5. If we are delayed for unseen reasons, you also will be notified as soon as possible in regard to a new date, and the album will be released as shortly thereafter as is possible. We thank you for your patience."

    Where is release date?

    bullshit

    I don´t believe him

lies and more lies ... again

The keyline here is "delayed for unseen reasons". I don't think it was much "unseen" to most people the record would never come out in time for the tentative date. ;P

  6. The font color in the "my console" section of my profile isn't too good with this profile. Also the quick access buttons beside the typing box.

Secondly, could we get the previous (default) theme as an alternative theme? I'd rather use that...

  7. As you might have predicted, I've listened to a version from 2002 and a version from 2006. I'm not too fussed about the difference in the arrangements, in fact I think the new introduction would sound better in a studio version. I'd like to note, that on either version, the value of Pit(t)man becomes clear, his parts are essential to the song. The solo is about the same, a few more subtle technical flashes were added in the 2006 version. Now, on to the meat of it. Call me crazy, but I like Axl's voice better in the 2002 version, yes, the rasp is less apparent, but he seems like he has better control over his pitch and tone. Another big difference to me is in the general groove of the band, there was a real nice bounce to the 2002 version that just isn't there anymore. I prefer the 2002 version.

Hah, I also thought I was the only one who prefers Axl's 2002 vocals on this song. I still think that even with all the new "releases" since september.

  8. Well let's revive this a bit too...

    http://www.htgth.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=120

In this press release about Oh My God Axl says "All the lyrics were written by myself".

    http://www.htgth.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=28

Axl: "I write the vocals last, because I wanted to invent the music first and push the music to the level that I had to compete against it. That's kind of tough. It's like you got to go in against these new guys who kicked ass. You finally got the song musically where you wanted to, and then you have to figure out how to go in and kick its ass and be one person competing against this wall of sound.

Why I chose to do it that way is that, you know, I can sit and write poetry 'til hell freezes over, and getting attached to any particular set of words... I felt that I would write to those words in a dated fashion, and we really wouldn't get the best music. "Oh My God" is a perfect example. When we finally got "Oh My God" where it needed to be, then I got the right words to it."

Also in that interview Axl talks about 70 songs that they've been working on etc.... Given the context it really makes me think that the band wrote the music and then Axl wrote the lyrics. At least in a majority of the songs.

  9. err.. as much as i love that you called Robin a genius, he wrote the music, not the lyrics, that was Axl (not that i know for sure, but it makes more sense)

Yeah I mean... Somebody find the interview I was talking about in the other thread. :P

  10. "On an ordinary day

    Not in an ordinary way

All at once this song I heard

No longer would it play for anybody

    Or anyone

    That needed comfort from somebody

Needed comfort from someone who cared

    To be

    Not like you

    Unlike me

And then the boy took that away

    From me

So that it set the wheels in motion

    Haunts our memories

    You were the instrument

    You were the one

How a body took the body

    Gave that boy a gun

    Took our innocence

    Beyond our stance

    Some type of moment

    There we got it"

I love this song, and i liston to it ALL THE TIME

and i honestly think the very last line just might be

"All alone IM hurt today "

    In other words ..poor Axl..

Yeah that's the part I love too.. The last line is the only thing that's bothered me.. Just can't make it up 100%.

I've read a few different interpretations but none which would be what I've started to hear:

"All alone in the world today"

  11. Not sure why but,

"This melody, inside of me, still searches for solution"

That and then in the same verse:

"A broken heart provides the spark for my determination"

Those two lines are magic for me. But wouldn't like to separate them. They're like cause and effect.

Because of the broken heart I'll have determination till the end of the world, yet I don't think I'll ever really be satisfied again. Something like that...

I also particularly like the end of catcher in the rye. Of course all the lyrics are pretty damn good.

  12. I can't find the interview anywhere where Axl was talking how they tried a new approach on the songs on chinese democracy. I remember him saying that instead of writing the lyrics first (old gnr) they now wrote the lyrics last. And then he said something about him being able to sit down and write lyrics till the end of the world or something? Anyone else remember that? Can't find it anywhere...
