it seems to me that this tour is almost more for the benefit of Axl's rich and famous friends than it is for the fans. I mean surely the point of Guns n' Roses is not that they can attract Matt Perry and Mickey Rouke to shows but rather that they're a fantastic rock n' roll band? The impromtu acoustic gig for instance, imagine that performed at one of the cities great rock clubs, for the fans, instead of some exclusive club for a load of actors and fashion designers who don't care half as much about the band as the real fans do. I don't think i've seen a report or review yet that doesn't mention with glee how many "important" people turn up.

I'm past the point of expecting Axl to fuck hookers and beat up glam kids on the sunset strip, the man's too old and it would just be foolish (DLRoth style), and i don't care if there isn't a shred of bad ass attitude left in Axl but i'd really like to see him doing something for the fans, instead of becoming part of an irritating self-congratulating scene populated by New York's famous types. Even the shows had a slight air of this to them, Axl taking the stage with Kid Rock and Seb Bach, wearing designer sunglasses and taking a hair stylist on tour with him.

Really my point is that i really was expecting the band to come back with a bang, i always thought there was a chance of some on-the-fly gigs to boost exposure but i expected them to be for the benefit of the fans. What i really don't want to see is the world's greatest rock n' roll band hanging out with a load of talentless fuckwits telling each other how brilliant they all are. Slash and Duff used to hate those people, getting fucked up at the MTV awards and not giving a damn how important other people thought they were, that's rock n' roll. Wouldn't hurt to have a lil' sleaze back, don't care if its Axl or not but i hope someone starts banging groupies and turning up drunk now and again. Or at least fighting back when some dickhead fashion type starts on them.

this is ridiculously bad news. the leaks make up half the new album? when we all heard them the first time the general consensus was "shit man this is hot, can't wait to hear the final version, these 3/4 year old recordings are cool but when they're complete they're really gonna rock!" well fuck all has changed apart from a new slightly worse intro to TWAT. it was pretty much taken for granted that the leaks we're all old songs, recorded around 2000/2002 or something, the other 3 were played on the 2002 tour. Axl has presumably done absolutely nothing since then since there's no new material. "saving the big guns for the festivals" / "giving ron time to settle in" thats fucking balls man. if there was new material they'd be playin the fuck out of it, instead they play "oh my god". i love this band, and i've got a ticket to see them in London (nearly 45 quid a ticket for fucking hammersmith apollo!!!) but if they come out and play the old songs there's really no point. Its worse than Mick Jagger fagging around on his solo tours playing stones songs with a session band, if Axl is gonna play thru AFD then he might as well get the old band back together and do it properly, if he's gonna contine as "New Guns" then there'd better be some fucking new songs.

bad obsession are now called UK Guns n Roses, i've heard theyre pretty good but never seen em. they have this really annoying poster with GNR written on it and the old logo and beneath it says, performed by uk guns n roses. sneaky. i dont think artists can vet their cover/tribute bands, its something to do with the difference between publishing and composer copyrights. the publisher owns the songs and can release them or charge 3rd parties to have them appear on compilations/ soundtracks etc, but the composer jsut gets royalties everytime theyre sold, played on air whatever, i think this extends to live performances where money is charged...

so they get paid (maybe) but they dont get power of veto or anything. to be honest tho i may have just made all this up, it was explained to me by my bands old manager but i was pretty drunk and tired, and in all fairness he didn't really know shit about anything.

Izzy might not come back because he doesn't wanna do stadium tours but Gilby sure as hell won't come back either. he was hired cos he looked good and could learn the stuff quickly (which isn't hard) and fired because he was really really really shit at writing songs. If TSI had become b-sides to the new album instead of an album in its own right you can be fucking sure he would never have recorded with the band. I kinda like the guy and he does have pretty cool hair but almost all the songs he's written on his solo albums are lame, there's the odd kinda cool sub-aerosmith number but i really don't think the guy would offer much in terms of songwriting for the epics Axl is planning/ has written.

and yeh, I.R.S is pretty weak. the lyrics are pretty cliched and the guitar part lacks any real spark in my opinion.

the lineup is announced today at 7.30 GMT, there's been various rumours of a Gn'R performance but no credible sources. It would make sense for Guns to play, they went down well in 2002 and it seems odd not to have confirmed any UK shows apart from donnington unless they were planning on playing another festival. Normally download and Reading don't share headliners but perhaps Guns N'(&) Roses are big enough to play both, especially as Slash has now rejoined the band.

and my theory is that Axl bashed out a couple of full mixes even though they weren't quite finished and sent em off to slash so he could learn them. slash gets high/pissed off with Axl/ attempts to speed up the process and they end up on the internet. Dizzy goes round to slash's to fight on behalf of his master as any good gimp would but slash is half black so he easily wins against a white guy with dreads. Dizzy is buried in Axl's back yard cos he knew he'd miss him and the reason the touring band hasnt been announced is because he search for a new keyboard player is gonna be on VH1 in the summer.

so the only way to get the new music would be to hope that however catches it rips it and sticks it on limewire or whatever thus forcing all the people who really want it to download it and then not buy it 2 months later, also probably managing to spark a nice lil GnR riot along the way.

mp3 only normally encodes up to 320kbps and that would give you a file size of about 12-13mb, however a wav file would be 54mb for a 5.31 song as it comes in around 10mb/min. its possible that its a wav file that someone accidentaly changed the file name to .mp3. most players like WMP and Winamp just correct it automatically and play it anyway.

Reading and Leeds Festival lineups are announced April 3rd. I'm betting Gn'R are gonna play there, much better lineup than Download normally and perhaps the slightly older less shitbag emo audience would be more intune with Gn'R. otherwise it'll just be funny watching all the floppy haired 15year olds wondering what "nightrain" and "mr brownstone" are at Download.

Anyway the point is pray for Reading, which is pretty near London, although not at all a club....

And the X in this country is shit its all laced with Special K, infact the coke is too so you're better off just buying the fucking K. cheaper too.
