EverythingWasRoses
One of my favourite bands, (sort of a guilty pleasure). I love Ann's vocals, especially the scream in Crazy on You , and Nancy is a completly unique female guiarist. With songs like Barracuda (which I'm just learning on the guitar ), Heartless, Magic Man, and Crazy on You, how can you not love them?Totally overlooked band, and they could have been Zeppelin-like huge, imo.Any other fans here? KBear
I listened to Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen this weekend. Great stuff! The Zeppelin comparison is very valid, they definitely were a huge influence on Heart and you can hear it in the music. They even covered a few Zeppelin tunes. I guess Heart went totally pop in the mid 80's and on but before that they weren't (definitely not on these two albums). In fact I'd say a lot of these songs don't really have hooks that stick in your head, at least not on first listen. This is a live performance of Barracuda, pretty rocking considering these chicks are in their mid 50s - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNz2VhCJ3B0...feature=relatedMagic Man, probably my favorite Heart song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYjgh-znxB4Treat Me Well - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgrAWm-j1gEAnd here is a live cover of Stairway to Heaven, performed faithful to the original - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uhfzVEc5NwI plan to check out some more of their early stuff. LightningBolt
I love Heart, and Dreamboat Annie is the must-own album from them. And the Zeppelin comparison is fair in sound-comparison, but I don't think their legacy would've been as big, but early Heart has obvious influences from Zeppelin, especially with having Folk Rock songs to very Hard Rock songs, just like Zeppelin.80's Heart sucks, though. She definitely can't hit the notes she used to be able to, though. But her voice was exceptional, I guess it was pretty obvious she wouldn't be able to sing those songs when she got old.
