According to Maine's WGME-TV, GUNS N' ROSES only sold 3,000 out of a possible 6,500 tickets for last night's concert at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland before the show was called off by the group. GUNS N' ROSES' management issued a statement blaming the cancellation on the "limitations imposed by local fire marshals." A GN'R spokesperson explained that the conditions "made it impossible for the band to perform their show to the usual high standards that their fans deserve."

Not sure why they thought that the truth wouldn't come out.

None of this would be happening, if they would simply drop a single. The album's done (supposedly). Give the radio stations a mother fuckin song and watch the hype build. It makes no fuckin' sense. Axl deserves this negative press.

Again, You are right! This really is the last chance for this band. The NEW gnr who refuse to release anything NEW. makes no sense.

Assuming an average ticket price of $50.00 (tix were $45.00 to 65.00) the band was looking at approximately $150,000.00 in gross ticket sales (at least), plus merchandising and other pecuniary benefits derived from playing the show (in addition to ticket sales at the door). Based on the reports thus far, it sounds like the gear and the band were already there. I doubt that poor ticket sales caused the cancellation. It would amount to a loss of money in getting the gear up there plus a loss of profits from the tickets sold and to-be-sold. I remain confident that the pyro was the problem. Of course, I drank the GNR Koolaid nearly twenty years ago.
