pain cake
So I'm going to see them on the 8th of August with some friends and I've always enjoyed this band so I'm taking this oppertunity to get into them, I got the greatest hits today and it sounds pretty good, but I need some guidance. What's their best album(s)? I heard pornography is good. Any help is appreciated Edited June 23, 2007 by pain cake
Morten..
One of the members on this site can't remember his name, knows a lot about the Cure, he told me that Disintegration was a great album, and he was right,it is amazing! I am very Jealous, I whish that the Cure would play in Denmark soon.Have fun at the show!
bluesy
I made a big thread about them a couple of months ago. If you're looking for albums, most people consider Disintegration to be their best. It's a part of a trilogy, related by their tone and themes. Pornography is the first, Bloodflowers is the last. They're pretty dark and gloomy, if you're into that. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me is a long double album and definitely their most diverse set. I would liken it to The White Album. Great stuff there. Head on the Door is their a pop masterpiece; so is Wish. These are all worth checking out. There's more in their catalogue, but the ones I mentioned are probably the best. Dead Flower
Disintegration is awesome. Apparently they'll be doing a three hour show. I seriously considered going to the Perth show, but I'm just not familiar with a lot of their material, so I wasn't sure I'd really appreciate it. I'll probably regret it later. Are you sure soon is the word? Well - I'd say the three I said (which as bluesy mentioned are a pretty dark sounding trilogy..) if your just trying to get into 'em a little bit maybe just get the Greatest Hits or something. If you wanna impressed her get their entire back catalogue or something! Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me is also an excellent offering from them. In fact - all their albums are pretty damned good =]xDSGx Edited June 25, 2007 by DopeSickGirl

ADPT
i love the song friday im in loveGreat song, really sounds good on Friday's too. Song even feels like Friday, if that makes sense?I've always loved the way they can make a pop gem like 'Close to You' and then make something like 'A Forest'.I also love 'Dredd Song', really suits the atmosphere of Stoney Face's world. Raw Power
are that the "indie rock" band? They're more alt rock I guess. Yeah, alternative.. Post-punk perhaps? Indie-rock is not an own genre. It's band that are signed on a independent label.

bluesy
are that the "indie rock" band? They're more alt rock I guess. Yeah, alternative.. Post-punk perhaps? Indie-rock is not an own genre. It's band that are signed on a independent label.Yeah.. They have a pretty much post-punk feel in the same way as Sousxie(can never spell it!) and the Banshees. The Cure are one of those bands that cannot be summed up by any particular label because throughout their nearly thirty-year-old career, they have virtually tapped into every genre imaginable. Most people associate the band with goth/mope/art rock, but they have loads more to offer than that. On image alone, I suppose it's easy for people to make those generalizations; afterall, teased hair and black eyeliner are quintessential trademarks of Mr. Robert Smith. When it comes down to it, though, one cannot deny the brilliance of this band, and more specifically, the frontman. The diversity in The Cure's catalogue is mighty impressive and the many different kinds of musicians they have influenced over the years can attest to that. pain cake
Update: I was awfully disappointed with Disintegration, it has a few good tracks on it, but not catchy at all with it's boring 2 minute intros and total sullen feel. What's their most fun album?
Kickingthehabit
What's their most fun album?Boys Don't Cry is their most accessible release. In comparison to what can be described as The Cure's "gloomier sound", this album is more of a new wave pop collection. I think you'll appreciate it more..-Kickingthehabit
