realpoti
According to Ice Palace (Megasport Arena) they will play a day after Helsinki.http://www.newarena.spb.ru/afisha/#front/2010/06The place can hold 14,500. That's fucking nuts. They are booking places that Axl never played before. Russia, Guatemala, Uruguay, amazing World Tour

Scumcat Esq.
Dude, 'Ice Palace' is not in Moscow. It's in St. Petersburg (which is just a few hours from Finland and that's why this gig is possible). Please correct the thread title. Edited February 28, 2010 by Scumcat Esq. I live there (here) so you can trust me. I don't know why but when they build an indoor arena for winter sports, they're most likely to call it 'Ice Palace' ('Ledovij Dvorets' in Russian). There are ice palaces in several major Russian cities, including St. Petersburg (I think it was the first ice palace) and Moscow. That's probably due to the lack of imagination. The venue's capacity is up to 12,300...11,762 (it's total capacity and it's unlikely that they'll use the whole arena for the gig). Here are some photos:And here's a link to a 3D view of the arena's configuration that's most likely to be used for the upcoming show (except for the stage configuration as it's up to GN'R, and I'm sure that seats in the GA area will be removed):Panoramic view of the arenaUse controls at the bottom to turn it around. This may take some time to load.Has GnR ever played Russia? No, never.

tomh
I've been investigating and it looks like visiting Russia takes lots of document filling and visa costs!Hopefully there will be more gigs confirmed a bit further west
Scumcat Esq.
I don't know the details and can't really say how much you have to pay for visas and whether you have to fill in a shitload of documents. But as Russia is not a member state of the EU, unfortunately you'll have to encounter red tape if you wanna come here.
