  2. Out of those 4 I have only see Kirk play live.

None of the four rate high on my top ten list.

I prefer Robert Fripp,John Frusciante,Robert Johnson and Vin Reilly. All down to personal tatse again...

  3. Recently the world's celebrated 50 years of rock music.

Which of those 50 years do you think was the greatest in a musical sense?

Mine would have to be '67 due to the amazing albums that came out that year.

Pink Floyd - Pipers at the Gates of Dawn

    The Doors - The Doors

    Cream - Disrali Gears

The Grateful Dead - The Grateful Dead

    Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow

3 yes 3 Rolling Stones Albums (!) - Flowers, Between The Buttons, Their Satanic Majestie's Request

Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced

The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour

    and finally...

The Beatles - Sgnt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

those are only a couple i can think of at the moment....it was the summer of love and obviously the summer of great albums...

any other great years out there?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I let you talk to my dad then.He has saw 5 out of your list.I grew up listening to all his stories about the 60's and 70's and all the bands he saw and met.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

this past sunday i saw robert plant and yesterday i saw bob dylan live...oh man...it's like a dream come true...i wish i'd been around to seem em in their prime :( along with all these bands :(

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I know how you feel.I wish I had have saw The Stones and Bowie in their prime.

I never even got to see Bowie yet,I had tickets but no one bothered to look at the date and the concert was over by a week when we realized

I saw Dylan a few years back and I was still blew away by him.The crowd just adored him.Although I was taken aback by how many old timers were there. The youth was out numbered that night. It was a weird week.I went to see Dolly Parton with my aunt and then Bob Dylan with my dad.

    How was Plant?

I watched him on Jools that night and he wasn't bad.My brother saw him many years ago and always rates him up there.

The only band I ever cared about seeing Live was Guns N' Roses. When they did come to Slane it was the only gig my brother refused to take me to.He now lives to regret it.So I would love to go back to then and see them rock Slane.

I missed alot of bands I would have had liked to have seen but then again I got to see alot of other good bands play in my era.So it's six of one and half a dozen of another.

  5. Dude, right this morning I was thinking how people who make this kind of poll only put their favourite drummers. Sheesh.

Anyway, I voted other. Keith Moon is the best.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Keith Moon,Charlie Watts and John Densmore.

Also going to add Phil Collins whe he's not an annoying prick he is a pretty good drummer. Also I heard Mama on the radio today so he is fresh on my mind.

  6. Robert Fripp is one damn fine guitarist. Some of the lyrics to the songs suck big time but really powerful playing.I Talk To The Wind,is my favourite songs of theirs.

They begin in 68/69.The Court Of The Crimson King/Lizard/Earthbound/Red are just a few of the many albums I grew up listening to.My dad was a huge fan.

I much prefer the earlier albums to the ones released in the 80's but their still good in their own right.

They always had really cool albums covers.Van Der Graaf Generator always reminded me a little of King Crimson.

  7. That's a tough one.

Suede.I remember going to see them play at the Limelight in Belfast and they were amazing.

When the whole Blur v Oasis kicked off,I was more of a Blur fan and a closet Oasis fan.I went through stages with both.I love what Damon has done with Gorillaz.

The Manic Street Preachers, lost something for me when Richie went walk abouts.Lately I am listening to Gold Against The Soul.I love that album.Very underrated I think and one of their best imo.

Stone Roses,The Happy Mondays and Primal Scream were the true instigators of this genre, the above followed their lead and did it in their own style and left their mark.

  8. and i will! i love babyshambles ( must admit i prefered the libertnes) but have you heard the new song Fuck Forever? Lovin' it.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I knew at least you would reply

Yeah can't stop playing it.Don't get me wrong I did like The Libertines but Pete unleashed is sooooooooooo raw.Between him and Oasis happy days :D

  9. Anyone else here liking Pete's style in Babyshambles?

Now the album is finished and due for release.I am excited about this.Pete dispite his problems is a memorable singer and very charismatic.Supporting Oasis too, what a line up...

The Libertines were an average band I grant you that.Killamangiro what a great song.

  10. Welcome to the house of fun :D:P

My brother was into Suggs and made me do that stupid dance. They reunited again for awhile, what are they up to now?

Happy memories from my childhood them and Dexys Midnight Runners :)

  11. I have seen him play live twice and both times one hell of a show.My big sis was a fan she was always playing Bat Out Of Hell. She got to meet him after one of his shows and he signed her Vinyl which she gave to me,saying it was released the year I was born.

  12. This is sweet! as long as the tickets aren't too much i might go  rock3

Knowing the Stones... they'll be WAY pricey. <_<

    And worth every cent.

I agree.I managed to catch them in Dublin 2003.First time I ever saw them and they were fucking lethal, they still can cut it.Mick can't hit all the high notes like he used to but what the hell.Only drawback was Andrea Corr singing Wild Horses.

  13. If Freddie himself had to pick his own replacement. He could never pick anyone better than Paul Rodgers.

I partly think that too.I just think what is getting to me is the first time I get to see Queen play live and it's not with Freddie. You can't help but feel a little sad. :(

  14. I have tickets to see them on the 13th May,still haven't made my mind up if I will go..Paul Rodgers is an amazing singer in his own right. No one can replace Freddie. It seems weird having another guy up front singing his songs, even though I know they sing a few of Pauls.

I have seen footage of them playing together and he does pull it off.Paul has a great vocal range.Something not right about it.

They must be doing something right, the gigs are selling out fast.I suppose it's keeps the music alive and out there.I wonder what Freddie would make of it all <_<

  15. Layla - Derek & The Dominoes/Eric Clapton

Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)/Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix

    All Right Now - Free

Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream

Satisfaction/Honky Tonk Women - The Rolling Stones

All Day And All Of The Night - The Kinks

    20th Century Boy - T-Rex

Money For Nothing - Dire Straits

    Pinball Wizard - The Who

Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen

    Hysteria - Muse

Love Me Two Times - The Doors

    Substitute - The Who

    Hangar 18 - Megadeth

  16. Got it on monday, and it's great. Being from the UK I get two bonus tracks with it too :)

After several plays still doesn't sit right with me.I am like that with alot of NIN.I just don't get some it,it leaves me thinking what the hell is going on.

A few tracks did stand out Right Where It Belongs,Getting Smaller and Only.

I did sense he has replaced alot of the anger for disgust, still continues to express his pain and anguish the way we expect Trent too.

Still not fully made my mind up yet,I doubt I will for some time too come, unless a b-side grabs me.

  17. Insane...ly boring. It's people like these that piss me off. What use is playing lightning fast? It's just noise. I dont care about whether he play with emotion or not, everyone mist have passion if they play an instrument. But playing fast is shoddy. Someone I knew went to his gig and said that most people were leaving after 20 minutes.

    Each to their own.

When I listen to him it's like a kind of eruption. He is very good at what he does and very precise and granted very fast.I think there's a bit of Di Meola influence in his playing especially in his speed playing.I appreciate it,for what it is.Sometimes a change is as good as a rest, but I must admit for me no one beats Robert Fripp and his alternate picking,Les Pauls and delay effects.

  18. Definitely one of the most technically accomplished hard rock guitarists of the 80's.You've to give the guy credit where due,his lightning fast arpeggiated solos, gothic style and also neo-classical tendencies.I never knew the guy had such a love of Bach,Beethoven and Paganini not to mention was a big fan of Hendrix and Blackmore's playing style. When to come to think of it you can hear their influence in his playing.

Have to admire the guy also,he broke his hand in the course of his career, and since has suffered from frequent bouts of tendinitis but he still plays on.Talk about suffering for your art.
