Was that when they ate at the pizza joint Axl and Izzy used to hang out at. Yeah he had some good stuff.

That was earlier this year. Actually I met Shooter at Axl's old house and we were going to get a picture in front of it, but there were kids playing in the front yard so we just had pizza. On Saturday I drove through on the way to Chicago and got a picture and had some pizza. Shooter couldn't make this stop, but he really wanted to.

  4. Struggle Jennings, Waylon's grandson, is actually a really good rapper. All of his songs mix country music in with them. Look him up if you're interested. Here's his latest song he did with Shooter.

@tharbin80 I happened upon this video on YouTube- Shooter is involved- gotta be good, right?

Just watched it- fuckin A- that was bad ass!

    Definitely a fun song.

Have you seen The Ranch on Netflix? Shooter and Lucas Nelson, Willie's son, do the theme song, it's a cover of Mamma Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys. Unfortunately Netflix owns the song and I can't find it on YouTube.

    is Shooter an Axl fan?

Yeah. He's a big Axl fan. It was a huge influence on him moving to LA. Somewhere earlier in this post I shared a clip of him playing with Slash and Duff.

  7. I took a live video during the Shooter Jennings concert Saturday. This is his version of the George Jones's song The Door. The Waymore's Outlaws are the band backing him up. Keep in mind that the drummer is in his 70's. His name is Richie Albright and he started with Waylon in 1964. The other guys, Jerry Bridges on bass and Fred Newllel on pedal steel, are in their 60's. The guy on the electric guitar is Tommy Townsend. He's the Waymore's lead singer, and the only guy that Waylon ever produced an album on. Audio isn't the best had a weak signal and recoded it with my iPhone 7.

I totally read this wrong..I thought you drove past Shooter's house..but you meant Axl's..cool!

My bad. Should've worded it better. Seeing Axl's house and eating at the same place Axl and Izzy got pizza when they were kids was really cool. Even that much cooler to do so with Shooter. We planned on getting a picture in front of the house, but for whatever reason it was almost 70 degrees in February and there were kids playing in the front yard.

  9. I haven't posted anything by Shooter in a while, since I'll be spending the weekend with him let's fix that. This is off the 2016 Southern Family. It was a compilation album out together by Dave Cobb, the producer behind Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Sturgil Simpson, early Shooter, and others.  Pretty good album with some big names. All the songs paint a picture of growing up in the south.

  10. If y'all are into weird stuff Shooter did a 7 part Coast to Coast AM style audio series to go along with the re-release of his album Black Ribbons. He just put it all up on YouTube.

THis is his latest music video. The song is 7 years old, but he just released the video for it.

  11. I'm going to assume that you guys are near enough to my age, 36, with all the Rock N' Roll Express and British Bulldog talk. Not going to lie it can be awesome and sad all at the same time seeing these guys on shows. A year before he died I was on a show with Ox Baker. He was in a battle royal and choked me in a corner. Ox fucking Baker was in the ring with me, that's cool as shit. What was even cooler than that was me and my buddy sitting and chatting with him for damn near 2 hours after the show. I say chatting, but we barely got a word in. The flip side of that was Ox Baker was 79 I think. Had to be helped in the ring, couldn't move around the ring without holding onto the ropes. So sad and so awesome all at the same time. I've never met Robert Gibson, but I've been on a handful of shows with Ricky Morton. That dude is a trip.

That's pretty fucking cool man. You got me wanting to hang with Shooter now, sounds like he's really down to earth. Hope to see you hang around the thread more.

I actually have my own wrestling story. If anyone is interested of course.

Shooter is cool as shit, and everyone he surrounds himself with are too.  Being the son of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter and a star in his own right hasn't gone to his head at all. My favorite part about him is he somehow has a way of telling these amazing stories and dropping all kinds of names without being douchey about it or taking it for granted.

Im always up for some wrestling stories, but I fear we may be getting too far off topic.

Feel free to hit me up on Facebook www.facebook.com/tommcclane80

much more active on there. I'm on this site daily, but it's just not that easy to navigate from a phone and I'm rarely on my computer for any length of time these days.

I need to know the story of tharbin80's profile pic. Is he a professional wrestling champ? Guy knows Shooter and is wearing the gold!

Ummm......I am an independent wrestler.....nobody you would of. I don't make it out of Ohio for wrestling. I actually made friends with Shooter on Twitter over our mutual love of He-Man and our love for all things 80's and 90's. That has morphed into us being pretty close friends. He lives in LA, but because of his touring schedule I hang out with him more than I do my childhood best friends that lives a few streets over from me. Funny thing is because of him I'm now friends with Curtis Axel. WWE guys love Shooter. Bray Wyatt even followed me on Twitter, I wasn't following him and had never tweeted at him, simply because Shooter tweeted about me.

That drummer, Richie Albright, played with Waylon from 1964 until he passed away. Now he's formed the Waymore's Outlaws and has been playing with Shooter. The dude is still a badass.

Wow- that's awesome! Very interesting to read that and very cool that a GnR connection brings us together for a chat.

I work all around the state of KS in highway construction, and come thru Topeka very often since it's the state capital. Lots of beautiful corn fed beauties there- nice call Shooter ??!

To be honest, I've never heard of Stargunn, but am gonna check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Im all for puttin the O back in Country ?

google Shooter, Slash, Duff and check out the other videos. Very cool indeed. I've been a frequent visitor to this site since day one, but this is the first post I've contributed anything.

He married well, his wife is awesome. She has an amazing Axl story herself.

When I've talked with Shooter about Stargunn he seemed kinda embarrassed about it. It's not the best, but it's really good. I'd like to see him go back and do another Stargunn album now that he's a more mature musician. I think the album The Only Way Up Is Down is all on YouTube. You can definitely hear the GNR influence in the album.

Wow- that's awesome! Isn't his wife that actress who was on the Sopranos (sorry but I can't remember her name, but remember the show) Do you know what town she's from? I never heard that before. And didn't he get an offer to be the singer for Velvet Revolver once upon a time? Man, that would've been Fuckin mind blowing.

Yeah, he puts on a hell of a show never been disappointed. Even hopped in a car with him and sold merch for four show, which was a fantastic experience.

Nope, he's not with the chick from the Sopranos anymore, although they have 2 kids together.

Think his his wife is from Topeka.

I actually brought up that I discovered him through this forum before he released his first album to him. Then he explained the entire thing to me. He actually sang with VR for two shows before it was known that VR was going to find a singer. Shooter had a rock band called Stargunn and he'd opened for Duff a bunch of times. He was also friends with Sorum and Dave so that's how he got the chance to sing with them.

A few months later he got an email asking him if he'd be interested in becoming their lead singer. It was an email from someone he didn't know, so he assumed it wasn't real. Especially since he was friends with those guys, he thought they would have asked him to be involved directly. So he blew off the email and responded that he was working on a solo album and wanted to focus on that. After VR picked Scott and were working on an album he ran into Sorum and Sorum was let him know it was a legit opportunity that he passed up. Shooter isn't sure if it was an offer to front the band or just an opportunity to audition for the band, but later he was asked again and did send in a demo after Scott was let go. Nothing came of it obviously, and Shooter says his demo was horrible anyways. I'd love to hear it though.

In 2010 Shooter was interviewed by Classic Rock magazine about his album Black Ribbons. Which is an excellent rock album with Stephen King on it. The only thing that was supposed to be discussed was the album, but they asked him about the VR deal and it came off sounding like he said they asked him twice and he turned them down. Which wasn't the case.

I'm honestly not sure how I'd feel about him fronting them. I really like his Stargunn stuff, but that's because I became a huge fan of his and then went back and discovered it. I don't know if  that's the Shooter I'd want fronting that band. An older Shooter that has found his voice and musical direction like we have today fronting that band would be fantastic, but Slash and Duff got themselves a pretty good frontman for the time being.

Personally, I live near Lawrence KS/ Kansas City. I would love to see one of his shows if he was close by.

I'm in Dayton OH, the way his touring schedule has been as of late I've gotten to see him a shit ton this year. I've gone to at least 15 shows this year alone.  Of the days he has listed at shootetjennings.com I'll be at 2 for sure, but he'll add more. His wife is actually from Kansas, she's a huge GNR fan. Shooter is too, whenever we talk it's about GNR or He-Man.  He even played Oh My God for me on his XM Radio show not that long ago.

Fuck yeah dude- I'd like to burn some shrub and listen to some tunes with you some day. ???

Where you guys located? I'd highly recommend catching Shooter live. He's been touring with the Waymore's Outlaws, Waylon's band, he's only touring with them through March then he's hitting the road with his band. The Waymore's are such a treat to see, those guys are legends and kill it, even on Shooter's newer non traditional stuff.

To the dude who knows Shooter- sounds like a true story.

I actually got to hang out with Shooter 2 weeks ago. He was in town doing an acoustic song swap set with Jason Boland. From my understanding this song is completely true.
