My instinct tells me that this thread pretty much has what's gonna happen spot on.

I would LOVE to see Chinese and its successor released simultaneously sometime this year. This time, however, Chinese will have the authorised artwork and will be the album Axl wanted it to be. I know it sounds crazy but I think in some respects Uncle Axl doesn't view chinese as being properly released yet - especially with how the band was fucked over with the covers, etc

After all he did say he considers it to be part of a double - so upon the simultaneous release perhaps we will begin to see interviews, videos and stuff.

Sure the booklet is full of errors / typos. I thought the plan was to have a bike on the cover all along?

It was, but the track list was thrown together at the last minute. CD is pretty funny, it took so long to make and have come out by judging by the mixing of the album and the artwork, it feels like it was rushed out.

That is why I think Axl did not promote the album because the label forced out the album. Why else would Axl not promote it.

Didn't he also feel that UYI had been "rushed out"? Is there any particular reason why he couldn't have picked the cover art and got that settled in the years he was working on the album. As for the typos in the booklet, exactly how long does it take to proof read something like that?

The bigger problem is that rock music has been stagnating for two decades. The lack of popularity that rock music has among blacks is reflected among teenagers among all ethnic groups. If there were really good rock bands out there producing new music that might change. I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Axl and the rest of the band need to get out there and work with the media as much as they can to elevate the profile of the newer bad members and CD. The release of CD was a missed opportunity to do that but with a new album or single they could fix that mistake. Can you blame anyone for thinking that Slash and Duff are still in the band when there haven't been any publicity shots of the new line up released?

Has there been a more recent studio shot of the band together since this one?

If this instruction came from Axl, is it a surprising revelation that he can be this petty? Are some of us that deep in denial?

The simple explanation is that he's got dementia and he thinks that Joe is his ungrateful son trying to steal his money. Either that or he's upset because the rest of the band laughed when he fell off the stage.
