  1. a gnr reunion in sight, which means cd has to show first

    and atleast a small tour

    CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS NOW

Um...Ross Halfin removed the comment from his site.

And the way he said it, it looked like it was a joke anyway.

  2. People need to stop trying to fit words like 'Axl', 'mature' and 'stable' into the same sentance.

I have to say though I find it funny how one minute everyone is bitching about how much Axl's changed and how they wish he would go back to the way he was in the 80's/90's.

Next thing we find out he apparently hasn't changed as much as everyone thought (appart from finding new ways to prove his lack of fasion sense) and now everyone's bitching about that as well.

  3. Funny how a rumour/possible news of this magnitude that could turn the GNR world upside down has a few posts, but a thread about a possible Axl sighting in Vegas is 4 pages and counting.

Says a lot about peoples priorities doesn't it?

I think he's taking the piss. He did just mention that he didn't want to tell the truth.

  4. I love watching the show but I really think they could have done a better job of it.

We don't need to be told every few minutes that GNR were incredibly sucsessful but had a lot of drugs problems and arguments. We already know that. And its really not making the program any more dramatic or interesting, no matter how they say it.

Instead they could have used what I'm sure adds up to a considerable chunk of time to add some more actual information. Theres a million and three things they left out which could have been included. Ideally some more info on what all the band members did after GNR, instead of just 'oh and by the way Slash, Duff and Matt are in Velvet Revolver and Axl was on the MTV awards' As if they dissapeared off the face of the earth in between.

  5. Why is he still going to strip clubs? Geez....

I mean, he's - what - almost 44 years old? He really needs to get a life before he turns into one of those creepy 60-year old guys that shows up late at night at strip clubs.

    *Sorry, just being honest here.*

Whats wrong with going to a strip club? Any man with blood in his veins likes seeing naked women.

Usually mature grown adults who are in a happy stable relationship don't have a need to constantly visit strip clubs. And as they get older, it's kind of creepy to see them hanging around strip clubs. It just is. *shrugs*

Only proof we have that Axl is dating is that he turned up to the Korn party with two girls and only one of them was an employee of his.

That and they were all seen having dinner together earlier that night.

We don't know that its any more happy, stable or permenant than any other relationship going on in the world.

And I'll resit the temtation to comment on the use of the word mature to describe anyone involved with GNR.

  6. and I guess this will kill the dating roumor

    Why?

Its not like Axl dating someone and going to strip clubs at the same time is anything new. Hell, he was still sleeping with groupies and people when he was married to Erin.

    uh oh

"You'll hear GNR music this year" Was about the only good news i got from Axl's return to public.

Actually I think he just said 'People will hear music this year'.

So no actual news at all really. Just because the guy went to a party doesn't mean the album will come out any time soon.

  7. *Whatever happend to sex, dugs, and Rock N' Roll? Hopefully Chinese Democracy doesnt contribute to this political music trend, if it ever comes out. Guns N' Roses is above that.

Hmm i think one of the things that made GNR different from lot of the 80 rock bands , is that they werent only about those things . Yes lot of songs talked about that but with a different meaning ...they didnt say "yeah drugs is cool do it " they say " we do drugs , everybody does , and thats how the world is fucked up" at least thats what always sounded to me . They just talked about what they did , but didn't try to make it look cool ...they just showed what they were . Probably thats what made GNR so badass, they didnt have to force some "atittude" ...because they really were junkie , crazy ..

Thats one misconception I always correct people on: appart from Nightrain (which is only about alcohol anyway) none of GNR's songs ever actually say anything about drugs being 'cool' or a good idea or anything like that.

Most of them, Mr Brownstone, Bad Obession, Crash Diet etc. are actually more anti-drugs than anything.

As for CD no one really knows what to expect. We've heard all kinds of diffrent things from all kinds of sources, even Axl himself has changed his desciptions of it over the years.

Best thing you could do for now would probably be to track down some of the new songs from the 2001/2 tour. If you can't find them I'll upload them for you.

But ultimately I think we just have to wait until the album actually comes out because I really hope Axl has actually been working on the songs since the tour, which would mean they'll sound a lot diffrent.

Personally I'm going to wait until it comes out and then listen to it and decide wether I want to buy it or not.

  8. I was watching a show about the rock music of the 70'-80-90'...and than I saw the November rain video...

I saw it before when I was just a little kid but this time iz was something else...it was fucking

incredible....and the next day I asked my friend if I could borrow his GN'R albums...and the rest is history...

    now I'm a die hard fan... B)

    lol

Did your friend ever get his albums back?

  9. Axl Rose, lead singer of Guns N' Roses, has introduced

convicted mass murderer Charlie Manson to a generation of young

fans. Over the objections of other members of G N'R, Rose included

a version of a song by Manson, _Look at Your Game, Girl_, on their

new album, _The Spaghetti Incident?_ Audible on the album after

the unlisted song is Axl heaving a sigh and saying, "Thanks,

Chazz." Manson stands to earn $62,000 for every million copies of

the album sold. Thankfully, the album seems to be sinking swiftly

    in sales.

I assume I don't actually need to tell anyone here this, but Manson makes nothing from TSI. The money goes to the family of one of his victims.

I do think Manson wrote some good songs. Not great but good.

I also liked some of Hitlers paintings. (They were in a museum somewhere or other. He had a thing for street scenes, and was one of those obnoxious people who would draw in every single brick on the houses.)

Doesn't change the fact that neither of them should have had other people killed.

  10. I'm actually working on a fanfic right now where this happens.

Don't want to give away my ending but basically its the music that brings them back together again.

Of course I'm not expecting that to actually happen. (If it does I'll get a job as a psychic.)

I have no idea what it'd take to get them talking again. If it happens I'd guess it'd either be a complete coincidence, they run into each other somewhere and can't just leave again. Or one or the other will need to get over their pride or whatever it is keeping them appart and call the other to talk.

I'd be very, very, very suprised if they ever actually worked together again. I'd settle for them to just be talking because it seems a shame that they went through so much together and now they don't even talk.

  11. I can't really remember. As far back as I can remember I've always known of some of their songs, the big hits. And considering I was only born in 1985 its possible I really have almost always known them.

But I'd say I've only really been a fan for around 3 years.

When I went off to university I got my own computer for the first time ever and one of the things I put on there was a whole collection of music from my brothers computer.

Including SCOM and November Rain. Both of which very quickly found their way into almost every playlist I created.

Then one day I was in a CD shop and I noticed Live Era. My first thought was 'Hey thats the band who did SCOM', but as I read the track list I realised I loved every single song I recognised.

So I (finally) did the logical thing and bought the CD. I played it as soon as I got home and I think I was hooked by the end on Nightrain. That thing lived in my CD player for weeks.

But the really odd part was that after about a week of reading and re-reading the booklet I decided I really didn't know anything about the band and went online to try and find out about them. Which for me is incredibly rare. I know barely anything about most the bands I'm into and it doesn't bother me. In fact I think GNR is the only band I've ever gone out of my way to find out about. I still don't know why, although their songs definately gave me the idea that there would be a lot worth reading about.

(Although I don't think anything could really have prepared me for just how much there was.)

And now 3 years later I'm still looking for anything GNR related to feed the addiction. :D

  12. “I'm probably one of the most dangerous men in the world if I want to be. But I never wanted to be anything but me.” - Yes,the most dangerous lead singer of the most dangerous band ever.

I really don't think you can compare Axl, or GNR being 'dangerous' to Charles Manson being dangerous.

I know which one I'd rather meet in a dark alley.

“So for you people who are filled with fear that I might someday be released: breathe easy, I don't see it happening.” - Chinese Democracy??? :)

Again I can't see any real comparison. For a start Axl is the only thing stopping CD being released. Secondly can you really compare a serial killer (or a man who inspired serial killers if you want to be precise) to an album?

“My relationship to music is completely subliminal, it just flows through me.” - There will never be a democracy in China.

I could see the quote itself relating to Axl, but not in the way you've explained it.

Other than that its an interesting theory.

  13. Didn't Scott mimick Axl once

and he called axl a fat bald man aswell!!

That was in response to a heckler who was telling Scott he should fuck off and chanting 'we want Axl'. Or something along those lines.

Its pretty much the same situation as Axl's infamous 'Slash is up my ass' speech.

As for a joint tour I really don't see it happening. Slash and Axl might say they don't have anything against each other but that doesn't mean they want to tour together.

I don't have anything against the kid who beat me up in school, because that also happened 10 years ago and I've gotten over it. Doesn't mean I want to hang out with him.

  14. Having lived in the middle east for the past 3 years, the tone of 'Riad [should actually be Riyadh] and the bedoins' isn't well-informed - another 'one in a million' moment I guess - but filled with post 9-11 angst. Too bad. I lived there for 2 years and had great experiences.

It is painful to see people take these political stances when they are so unaware [not Axl, because we are still waiting to see the product]. Those who want to torch other nations politcally should become more objective of their own culture [read Chomsky for beginners], and then be able to tackle political evils abroad as well as at home. Ethnocentricity in rock 'n' roll has to stop sometime!

    Just some ideas ...

    Agreed.

My dad sometimes seems to spend as much time working in the middle east (Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia mainly) as he does at home and his stories and experiences seem to be drastically at odds with what I hear from people back home (UK) and here (USA) who 'know' what its like over there.

I really don't think you can say you know how a culture works until you've lived in it.

Oh and on the subject of the album title part of me is still waiting to find out its another painting.

  15. It's easy to turn people against fur because only the wealthy can generally afford it. It's the old politics of envy that the left is always ready to exploit. There are just as many animals used and abused in the creation of leather, wool and in food production. They find it easy to harrass a 60 year old woman in a fur coat, they're not as ready to fuck with a bunch of bikers in leather. I'm all for killing animals in as painless a way as possible but people who complain about fur while they're wearing leather, just look plain dumb.

Leather generally comes from cows, or other meat animals where the rest of the animal is used, and where in many cases they're raised in humane conditions, if only because it improves the quality of the meat.

When animals are bred for fur thats often the only part thats used (when was the last time you saw mink or chinchilla in a super market?), and people can often get away with keeping them confined to small cages and factory farming conditions by arguing that it protects the fur.

  16. is it official?

    I seriously doubt it.

It looks like another amature compilation. Some guy found some live performances and a video of an interview where Izzy talks about AFD and threw it together to make some money.

  17. Axl, your cool and everything, but I could give a crap about the latest news on your cars that, if sold, could feed a small nation. There are people in Sri Lanka and Madagascar right now who don't have a place to shit, much less a vehicle. Hey, I got an idea! Write a song about it?

Sad fact is most of the money in the world doesn't go where its really needed.

And unfortuntately theres not much we can do about it either.

I guess you could illigally download music and donate the money you would have spent to charities.

But if everyone did that GNR would still be amongst the people without enough money for food.

    Its a lose-lose situation.

As long as people can't pull off a genuine and effective form of communism that doesn't deteriorate into a dictatorship pretty much instantly its going to keep happening.

  18. Is anyone really suprised by this?

I'm sure you all know theres still plenty of women out there who (for whatever reason) would love to date Axl.

I just hope he finds someone to stay with him.

  19. I never heard anything about it anywhere but here.

So I'm guessing it wasn't well publicised and no one ever heard the result.

From what I remember of the original topic it also wouldn't suprise me if the whole thing was BS though.

  20. "June 16: 'Contraband' debuts at the #1 spot on the Billboard Albums chart, with 256,000 units sold in the first week!"

    http://vr.belowempty.com/chronology_2004.php

So apparently they'll have to do better than 200,000 to have the fastest selling album.

Wait...does that mean that Contraband is currently the fastest selling rock album ever? Or have they missed off others as well?

Edit: My friend has said since their going on about Oasis maybe they mean their just talking about British bands and forgot to say that.

  21. Sanctuary is involved in many different areas of the music industry including music licensing, publishing, as well as being a record label. However, they are not GnR's label. Seems this is why people sometimes get confused.

Esspecially when articles like the one that was just posted call them a record label.

    But yeah your right.
