And for example, when playing Stairway To Heaven, that is played in fingerstyle but what fingers do you use? Is it just whatever you want to use?

Thumb for EAD strings, finger n. 1 for G-string, n. 2 for B, n. 3 for E. That's how I do it.

That's good, but the solo is out of control, it just goes way off the tempo. It just doesn't sound right to me, put some feeling in to it, and it will sound cool.

The Sandman, I think you are going a bit off the point here. We were talking about how crappy guitarist Finck is, not complaining about new GNR. Yes, Slash left 10 years ago, GNR is now industrial sounding, but does that make Finck a better guitarist? No. Hes bullshit, and that's it.

Nothing wrong with Bucket over there. Finck doesn't really screw up there, but that doesn't mean hes playing good. If you can't tell the difference of a good solo and a horrible solo, I suggest you end the arguing now. Unless you actually liked that shit, wich I doubt anyone could.

I understand that it's not a great solo, but the thing is, that is filler. It's not part of a song, it's probably either improvised, or just a random fill. It's not supposed to be amazing, it's not even in context with a song. Some of the other ones he's done have been amazing, just because he playing one poor filler song doesn't mean he's a bad guitarist or indeed screw up.

I know it's a filler. It's definitely improvised, but as a pro guitarist you should know how to improvise at least decently and that's waaay below decent IMO. I've also noticed some awful sounding notes in his Slash solos, and those are the parts when he improvises a bit. That seems to be sort of his style, he plays at the right scale but still it feels like your ears are exploding.

But yeah, I've heard some good stuff from him too, but I don't like him as a guitarist cos theres way too much shit.

I would go off and say that Finck is the worst guitarist in the world among famaouse names. I mean if you havent seen or heard any live show from GNR during 01-02 beacuse he really fucks up alot and to call him a proffecional is not right. A pro must handle his instrument. If you don't agree with the fuck ups during the 02 tour then you don't play or know anything about music talent

I do, but he had different lyrics, wich he didn't write alone, and he had the beginning part of the melody. Ezrin did a whole fuckin symphony orchsetra (dunno how it's spelled) to follow that little piece of melody, changed the lyrics and all that stuff. But yeah, without Peter, there wouldn't be that song, not the idea of the song, not the singer of the song.

The band that introduced me to rock n' roll, I love 'em Every one of their songs are great IMO. Well maybe not all of The Elder and Genes 80's material, but besides that, they are fooking awesome . And I always liked the music more than the image.

Um, no. Slash played a standard back in the day, just because it had open coils, doesn't mean its a classic. He put Alnico Pro II's in there but played standards. Now he has his own signature model. Also, on topic, Epi's tend to lean more towards the fatter 50's neck. They're great to start on because almost any neck after that feels thin as hell. Hope I helped.

He has recorded with Gibsons. Just a few songs recorded with strats and teles, if I remember correctly.
