  1. The Register reports that keen security personnel at England's Birmingham International Airport ordered a man to turn his t-shirt inside out because it bore a drawing of two crossed guns.

Staffordshire design engineer Dave Osbourne was wearing a Guns N Rollers t-shirt (see photo of t-shirt at this location).

As he waited to board the flight to Newark, New Jersey, guards told Osbourne the graphic represented a security risk, and could upset other passengers.

This sounds like dictatorship to me.

  2. This song means alot to me, single-handedly, it got me interested in the new lineup. I liked "Chinese Democracy" also, but I've always thought that "The Blues" was an instant classic. It's one of my favorite Guns N' Roses songs.

Now I know it's been a long time since I started a topic in here or said anything too positive about the band, but I've just gone on a little excursion and I feel like some might like to read my opinion on it. This song is very important to me, and in a way it represents everything about the new band for me.

As you might have predicted, I've listened to a version from 2002 and a version from 2006. I'm not too fussed about the difference in the arrangements, in fact I think the new introduction would sound better in a studio version. I'd like to note, that on either version, the value of Pit(t)man becomes clear, his parts are essential to the song. The solo is about the same, a few more subtle technical flashes were added in the 2006 version. Now, on to the meat of it. Call me crazy, but I like Axl's voice better in the 2002 version, yes, the rasp is less apparent, but he seems like he has better control over his pitch and tone. Another big difference to me is in the general groove of the band, there was a real nice bounce to the 2002 version that just isn't there anymore. I prefer the 2002 version.

I will say that if they ever release a good studio version of "The Blues", this band will really be worth something.

    Nice post!

"The Blues" has become one of my favorite GN'R songs too. I'm kinda addicted to it now. I can't wait to hear how it'll be on the album. And yes, it is a classic.

  3. Do any of you think that Axl may have some fear about releasing Chinese Democracy? I mean, look at the facts. It's been so long since an album and he's basically stayed in the spotlight. If he releases this and it happens to suck, he may not be given another chance. The public may not care enough about them to worry about a follow-up if CD sucks. Axl's only hope then would be to reform the old GN'R or drop out of the spotlight (I guess he could release a follow-up with another large risk that, if failed, would COMPLETELY shut him out... I mean, who wants to wait 14 years for a CD to suck?). And then who would want to wait a few more years for a follow-up to a sucky CD?

If it's ever released (hopefully it is... I think it will be in a matter of time), it better be good.

The CD won't suck. I don't think Axl is afraid, no, he may be nervous (who wouldn't be?) but not scared. It would be a failure not to release the album. And well, there will always be people bitching about Gn'R and the album, no matter how good the CD is. But we are used to that, and Axl aswell.

  4. It's normal that some songs are easier and others harder to sing. Better and especially twat are on a higher key but I think Axl does a great job and he sounded great in Wembley.

  5. 150? come on, it's way to much for a band that hasn't done crap sense the 90's. I don't know how they came up with this amount...that's ridicules...only the Rolling Stones charge this much now days!

I agree it's much, but not too much. Just because Gn'R didn't release the album doesn't mean they have been sitting on their asses for ten years and thought after a while it would be fun to do some shows and get some money.

On topic: It has already been said, I think that ppl are hoping that Gn'R would do a show closer to their town. And also because of the new line'up, the lack of new material etc. It's pretty strange they haven't sold out yet but that's not an issue for us, fans. It's amazing, though, that Gn'R sold out in NY and many other shows in Europe.

  6. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that with the old line'up Gn'R used to sell all the tickets in about 15-20 minutes. Anyway, it's still very impressive that they had so many sold out venues. I bet they didn't expect that. Not after 13 years of silence. This should motivate them release the album this year. Release the album Axl!

  7. Enough with the Madonna already...

    GnR board...HellOOOoooo

Madonna is a smart woman and that's about it. It's true that she worked hard, but if you see her as a pop idol or sth like that...well...no comment. And if it's true that Axl will never be the icon that Madonna is, then the reality is really sad, because he deserves it a lot more. And yes, this is Gn'R forum, this whole Madonna praising is weird...

Sorry, can't remember who said it, but Axl won't turn to Kabballah. And that's because he doesn't need that whole publicity around him, he already has a lot, even if it's negative. Axl isn't a publicity junkie. Madonna needs publicity to stay on top and she knows it.

  8. Hey all, just thought I'd introduce myself and talk a bit about how I feel about GNR.

I've been a fan of the band since Use Your Illusion records and have most items I can get my hands on.

To me GNR doesn't represent Axl Rose or Slash or Buckethead or Bumblefoot, its far more personal - they force feelings out of me - be it sadness with Estranged, the Euphoria of Love with SCOM, anger with back off bitch - we all got into GNR because of what it represents to us personally.

The reason I love Guns n Roses is that they have music that can speak to you - I don't care as much what a particular song means to Axl - I care about what it means to me, I can listen to GITR and all my anger that I might be feeling on that particular day just pours out and I feel better.

GNR make me a better person because of the sheer emotion of their music and how it can pick you up!

I'm a massive Axl Rose fan but its not about him and whether he is an asshole or not - its about what his music does for you. Axl's look and what he has said/done are of secondary importance because that stuff can easily spoil your enjoyment of a band that can speak to all your emotions.

Hope at least some of that made sense anyway!!

Gn'R has changed most of us. I'm a huge Axl fan too, and I don't give a shit what ppl think/say about him, he'll always be the man who brought that little sth in my life. And he inspired me too. Yes, the music has a message and has sense, even though some of the songs are only about a bitch, getting laid or getting high (kinda), I still love it. So I know what you feel and most of us feel the same.

Gn'R will always be in my heart and mind.

  9. There are TONS of musicians who do side projects in addition to their full-time gigs. That the members of Guns N' Roses have side projects and guest appearances going on doesn't mean shit.

Didn't the old band also have side project. I know at the Illusion DVD Duff talks about a solo project he was working on.

And Last time I checked. He wasn't a hired gun.

I'm considering on hireing a gun. And a hitman. And kanada would post.....no more

    :rofl-lol:

Yeah, you're right. Many musicians have solo projects, that doesn't mean they're hired. And even if they were, I would still love Gn'R

  10. I've seen these guys in action, and this is if anything a band. Not Axl and some guys but a band.

And they work amazing like this.

Face it: this is Guns n' Roses

and personaly I'm very happy with that! B)

    Amen brother! :tongue2:

    Yep.

    rock1

  11. he looks like an nerd (not an idiot) because he didnt know that the stage is to high for him to get up.

and the stage isnt that high. it's just that he's out of shape (despite what ever we say).

that's not how I imagine a rock star (no matter if he's 45).

If Keith Richards can get on top of a palm tree, Axl should be able to get on the stage with out lookin funny.

Wow, that really is an issue for us Gn'R fans. I hate Axl right now.

  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZGaDSYNNiw

What happened to him? Seriously - he used to be the coolest guy ever, the greatest stage presence of anyone I've seen in my life.

But look at that video - he's dancing like..well, like a white guy with no rhythm who somehow got lost and ended up at a taping of Soul Train and is trying to imitate all the black people.

    What happened to you, Axl?

The question should be: Are you GAY?

    The answer: Most definitely!

    Oh come on!
