isnt axls voice a tad weird on this one?

also i am not sure if it is my phones but isnt axl voice like waaaaaaay up in the mix? like so much so that it gets hard to listen to the instrumentals properly when axl is singing?

also are the instrumentals "too clean"?

    has it been doctored?

    was it very badly mixed?

i dont trust GNR whatever was left of GNR anymore

I agree.  There's something off or odd about the mix.   Vocals aren't as crisp as the other Lies sessions songs.  Who knows?  But you are correct and I've been a fan for 30 years so I know what you mean...

  2. I will send you Ides of March, Oklahoma, and The General first.  Or maybe the never-released Hollywood Rose songs International Boys, Beat on my Head, and Rock N Roll Rose.  Heard of those?  Look it up... they all exist but never to be released... trust me, I know what I'm talkin about... there are rarities that most fans know nothing about.  But my point is that these deep rarities will never surface... many were never completed.

  3. I definitely agree it is official, especially when you read the last line on the poster that is in Axl's typical printed style and says "this poster is dedicated to everyone that helped us, etc... (paraphrasing)…".  I actually think the poster is much more rare than the Live Like a Suicide record.  I've tried to reach out to Alan Niven to ask him about this poster but no luck...

Not the original logo, but very similar!  See here:

They changed it up a bit.  Very slight differences but they are there!

Definitely all cool but I think the Live Like a Suicide poster is special because it was the first official promo poster issued by the band.  I'm curious how many were issued, probably 500 but I'll have to ask Axl one day...  kidding...

  5. I can confirm that everything I posted earlier indeed exists on audio in varying degrees of (mostly great) quality.  And I'm sure there's more out there.  It's up to management and Marc Canter.   They hold the keys to the vault.  I will be talking more about this in a podcast in the near future.

IMG%5DI picked this up on Ebay this morning. Does anyone know anything about these as far as how rare they are?  The bottom of the poster reads...

""THIS POSTER IS DEDICATED TO OUR FRIENDS, FOR SUPPORT IN THE STREETS
    AS WELL AS THE STAGE"

I'm a hardcore collector of GNR memorabilia and I've been collecting for 30 years.  This is a great find!  Congratulations!  I can tell you without doubt this is the rarest GNR poster and the first official poster they issued.  There are probably fewer than 100 in existence but that's my best guess.  They probably only printed 500 back in 1986 but that's my best guess.   I never saw one until a few years ago and I bought one from a private collector and had it framed.  I think very few people have this poster and even fewer people have it in such good condition.  I'd consider buying it if you want to make some $$ on it.  But the main point is this is rare and I'm impressed with any collectors that have one so that's great!  -Kevin

Yes, finally a date for the elusive concert at SF The Stone!

I didn't even realize GNR played a show in San Francisco in 1986.  I wonder if the show was recorded on the soundboard.  Does anyone know anything else about this show, such as setlist or any photos?  Is this show available on bootleg?  I wonder if someone out there has the recording...

Unfortunately I don't think this will ever see the light of day.

Our vision for that show was directed as a trip to the past, no phones just pure music, love and being there/bragging rights like back then was.

We appreciate all you do, any additional releases might include some live songs recorded from the 1987/88 era such as the amazing 1987 live soundboard recording at the Marquee in London?  Or Roxy/Whiskey 1986?  And of course the song Cornshucker from the Lies outtakes...

We live in a scary world nowadays, things are being done and said that changes the course of one's life in a moment's time.

    Hi Fernando,

As a longtime diehard GNR fan, I can tell you we respect all that you do!  Thanks for all you do!  When will the Troubadour show from 2016 be released on DVD?  I was there and it was awesome!  I'd love to see a GNR gallery or exhibition of memorabilia again in LA in celebration of the new Boxset.  I'll be at the Berlin show!  See you all there!  -Kevin B.

  10. I think enough people have said this about Constantine that this is not just empty criticism, he just doesn't sound good or appear comfortable and dynamic doing the GNR songs.  That doesn't mean he can't sing, it just is a comment on his performance doing the GNR songs.  I hope he does well either way in the future.  Either the chemistry is there, or it isn't, and that is something that cannot be easily changed... just an observation as I was there and talked to many people there in the audience and on the forums as well.

yes yes yes and there must be even more stuff we have no idea of...

for a second (after mitch lafon's post) i believed some of these early 86 recordings would be released...

never heard bloodshot eyes and YES, this is definetely another piece of the puzzle, along with all of the lost Hollywood Rose songs, LA Guns songs and who knows what other early pre-GNR songs that may still exist and we never had the chance to listen to

i suppose our best shot at listening to all of these is when someone releases or leaks them despite of GNR

I think the time to leak stuff may be soon... you never know...  there are a number of lost Hollywood Rose songs such as Beat on My Head, Rock & Roll Rose, and International Boys, that have NEVER leaked but do exist.  Bloodshot Eyes clip with Axl singing from October 5, 1984 Troubadour show has leaked (on YouTube) from Marc Canter but rehearsals of Bloodshot Eyes instrumental exist too with Tracii Guns.  Another lost song from Hollywood Rose is called Hollywood Girls but no copies exist anywhere.  These I consider the rarest GNR-related audio in existence.  But also don't forget the complete (extended, uncirculated) audio Mates Rehearsal tapes from 1989 with Steven Adler on Coma, Bad Apples, and other jam songs that are unreleased (instrumental minus Axl).  That exists too.  And the Whisky soundboard live show from 1986.  That exists too.  Finally, early GNR rehearsal tapes exist as well (actually rehearsing, not demos or outtakes), which are probably the rarest of all.  The reason for my post is to encourage the true diehard fans that stuff is out there!  And even cooler, in some cases, than any upcoming official release.  We'll have to see if The Plague is anything more than a short instrumental; if so, that will be great too of course.

What about the actual Appetite Sessions?

The three known studio sessions (Mystic, Pasha and Sound City) happened before the actual Appetite sessions

According to wikipedia, the band recorded the album at Rumbo Recorders in January 1987

After some weeks of rehearsal, the band entered Daryl Dragon's Rumbo Recorders in January 1987. Two weeks were spent recording basic tracks, with Clink splicing together the best takes with his razor blade. Clink worked eighteen-hour days for the next month, with Slash overdubbing in the afternoon and evening, and Rose performing vocals. Slash struggled to find a guitar sound before coming up with a Gibson Les Paul copy plugged into a Marshall amplifier. He spent hours with Clink paring down and structuring his solos. The total budget for the album was about $370,000.[2] According to drummer Steven Adler, the percussion was done in just six days, but Rose's vocals took much longer as he insisted on doing them one line at a time, in a perfectionism that drove the rest of the band away from the studio as he worked.[5] Final overdubs and mixing were done at Mediasound Studios, and mastering at Sterling Sound, New York City.[6]

i cant believe they didnt include the raw basic tracks without overdubs from the actual appetite sessions

i cant believe they didnt include the outtakes from the actual appetite sessions

i cant believe they didnt include alternate vocal takes from the actual appetite sessions

i cant believe they didnt include alternate solo takes from the actual appetite sessions

i cant believe that they stuffed this box with useless toys and didnt include all of this!

I think the other big surprise is no live recordings from the vault.  Soundboard live recordings from Roxy March 86 and Whisky  8/23/86 exist but in the hands of very few... also rehearsal tapes exist from early days.  Anybody ever hear Bloodshot Eyes?   It was rehearsed by GNR in the beginning but abandoned as it was an old LA Guns song...

It was Troccoli's story.  He's got the largest documented collection of GNR memorabilia, including the one and only original stage banner from the club days.  If they wanted to make an accurate reproduction, they'd have to go to him.

Just keep in mind that there are others out there who have huge GNR memorabilia collections too but not necessarily publicly known.  My point is maybe new stuff may leak one day...
