  1. I think we are pretty much stuck with the mickey mouse voice for a lot of the high stuff. I hope he can pull off the "Better" rasp live. What ever happened to his deep voice from the 80s and early 90s? His speaking voice (in the Kurt Loader Famous Last Words segment) used to be low and ridiculously deep. In interviews from 2001, and the 02 VMAs, as well as his rants on stage, his voice seems worn out, and higher in general.

In some of the AFD and UYI demos he expiraments with singing without rasp, just using his normal singing voice, and these songs sound excellent. I would greatly prefer this over Mickey, if he still has it in him. Still, there are some high moments where he has pulled it off pretty well (Boston - The Blues) but I'm sure everyone would prefer his old deep rasp over his normal singing or the new mouse voice.

Very well said. You have proven your point to me in the least.

  2. CITR is the wrong song to listen to if your trying to listen for Axl's vocals. Try Better.

True, and that demo was very recent. All things point to the notion of it being recorded in 2004. I think that Axl's voice is probably at it's best in the past 13 years on that track.

    Scary part is...

    ...IT'S JUST A DEMO

  3. I agree with the isolation theory. But you also have to look at the lyrics. "I won't be told anymore, that I've been brought down in this storm". That definitely refers to everyone telling him he's done without Slash, Duff, and Matt.

  4. I think the only 'old' classics they should play are:

    Welcome to the Jungle

    Sweet Child O' Mine

    November Rain (At a push)

    Paradise City

Fans have waited far too long to listen to an Appetite For Destruction set like in 2002. I think the shows will be dominated by new songs. B)

Also, I think they will definetly play 'IRS' as it's a rocker and clearly will be a great song on the album.

    Agreed.

  5. I just hope we have more material. I won't really care if "Better", "The Blues", and "There Was A Time" are the big guns, because that's quite what they are. But if they aren't what Axl referred to as "The Big Guns", then I can't wait to see what's in store for us. But then again, I just want more material. As does eveyrone else on this forum. Maybe there will be a song about "Axl pouding Lindsay Lohan's clit" as Funeral put it. :P

  6. Why do people refer to it as an 'Axl sighting'? It makes him sound like a UFO or something.

    R.

All too true. He's not an endangered animal. Nor is he Bigfoot.

  7. To me Brain sounds like a machine!!! :P:book:

    haha just a bit

I belive that some stuff is a drum machine, like the begining of "better" and "IRS"....also, Brain is an employee really of AXL. He is going to do what Axl tells him to do or maybe the producer may say for him to do. You can't judge a drummer off recorded tracks really. you can't tell how good someone is from playing someone elses stuff. Tom Waits is a singer/songwritter. I am a "drummer for hire" myself....as a drummer I would say that Josh Freeze was the best drummer Axl had, then Brain, then Steven....Matt dead damm last. Yeah I'm a newbie, but so what.....so what I have better things than to sit on line all day and "dream up sh*t" about my favorite rock star.....like what if Axl died.....what if????....well boys and girls, he will someday, we all will. I do love reading thsi stuff as I have for over 4 years now!!! just don't say anything...because most of this stuff is adolesant. (and No, I can't spell!!)

Well said. But it's probably done on an electric drum set or something. I guess it will really come down to what we hear in the live versions. For example, Joey Jordison from Slipknot runs his acoustic drum set through their sampler (Craig Jones)'s equipment. It gives Jordison a very electric drum set sound, but it's still acoustic. This can be demonstrated on "Eyeless". But on the demos, I definitely think that "Better" and "I.R.S." definitely is an electric drum set. But on "Madagascar" i.e. it sounds absolutely like a sample.

  8. Take into consideration that Brain is a latin hip-hop drummer. You can tell the hip-hop is there with the drum loops. He isn't a rock drummer. That's basically teaching a rock n roll guitarist country guitar. It's hard to adapt to it. But then again he's had 5+ years...I love Brain's drums on the leaks.

  9. I agree with Madison. Merck is a very smart man. I trash talk a lot of celebs that deserve it (FUCK YOU SCOTT WEILAND) on this forum, but I have never made any negative comments about Merck, because he's not stupid as everyone thinks.

Some of you may already realize this, but by giving us odd replies and shooting down rumors just makes everyone wonder more about the new album. Every single little thing he does will promote the album one way or another. And yes, he DOES know some-what about how important die-hard fans and the internet is in the music industry.

I have heard from many reliable sources (i.e.: My uncle's friend is a Geffen spokesman <<<just because of that, it doesn't mean I'm trusting it) that Merck is trying to get a certain software or something onto the discs that CD will be on to stop people from ripping it onto any download managers/engines. Don't ask me how that's going to work, I have no damn idea. Hence why I said I don't really trust that idea.
