  1. - I am one of the few who love So Fine

    - I have lost so much interest in the band the last 2 years I feel funny calling myself a fan anymore

    - I wish Axl could have kept the 2002 version of the CD era together longer to see where it would have gone

    - The most excited I've ever been about the band was in the CD era

    - Seeing Axl, Duff and Slash onstage together for the first time in 2016 in Philadelphia during ISE I thought I was dreaming

    - I despise AC/DC.  I saw Axl/DC and was bored out of my mind the whole show

  2. Don't come here much anymore, but here to read about The General.  Here's to hoping we get it on streaming services Friday!  If not, it'll be available illegally anyways!  I agree with some others who have said for all the hype about this song over the years it's odd that it's being released as a B-side to Perhaps but it's also very fitting for how this band operates. I feel like the possibility of a letdown is huge, but I'm holding out hope.

It’s prob going to depend on what the overall seating chart looks like at each specific venue. Say 800 of 1000 seats in sections X/Y/Z are unsold a few weeks before a show at $450 a piece. You can’t have that many empty seats in sections next to one another, it looks stupid. So they will lower those seats first.

They will also, without a doubt as this is SOP with tours, open seats after load in happens and they see where the site lines are on the sections closest to the stage.. ESPECIALLY with stadium tours!

Good luck, I won’t be lookin at all until a day or 2 before whatever show I think about going to, and for THIS tour I have myself a HARD $50 limit.

So would you say it's much more likely to see actual seats plummet in price rather than GA?

By the looks of it…… not many people. VIP sales for LN shows/Tours close out 30-45 days before the show, and any unsold VIP inventory gets dumped to regular sales ..

or Platinum first to try to get extra $$, And if/when that doesn’t sell 3-4 days out it goes to regular… they then do a massive price drop (below face) just to get people in so they then spend $$ on toy trucks and tshirt!

When does the massive price drop happen?  That's what I'm holding out for.  I feel like I've seen notable price drops weeks before the shows depending on how they're selling.  Are these drops heavier than that?

Respectfully, I have to disagree with both statements. The most I paid for a GNR show at MetLife since 2016 was $180 with fees. MSG was roughly $150. The August 5, 2021 show I paid $130 with fees. All seats were good at MetLife.  For the show that is coming up at MetLife, there are tickets for $100 plus fees which would be $130-$140.  I disagree that all good seats costs $300-$400.

I hear you.  I'm all about being up front in the action so unless I get a free ticket elsewhere I'm going to pay for those tix up front.  Honestly I wish I wasn't spoiled with the seats/spots I've had in the past.  Being up against the rail for 2 shows at MSG in 2017 ruined me

Yeah I’m leaning towards doing the same thing. I say this everytime and then end up panic buying as soon as the general public sale starts. I remember doing every presale for the first show of the reunion only to find nosebleeds on each sale. When the general public sale went on, it’s still all that was available so I bought them. Then about a week later I paid $2200 for a pair of pit tickets. Sucker for GNR is a phrase often used to describe me, but I’m getting sick of it!  I think I’m going to hold off on this one.

Trust me.  You'll be fine if you wait.  I held out for Pit tix at MSG in 2017.  I ended up getting them face value for the two shows I could attend. Same thing for Metlife show #2 in 2016 (I had a wedding the night of Metlife #1). Good luck to you!

Yup! This is pretty ridiculous. I learned this the hard way in 2016.

Same my friend. I got tix for the Philly show.  Luckily it was during that weird period where TM let you exchange tickets for different seats if you wanted. I was able to move up like 14 rows plus the face value of those same tix I had fallen, so I was able to get those AND purchase 4 seats in the upper deck that I scalped on StubHub to make some money back.

What do you guys think about the demand for these tickets? This will be the 3rd time they played Hershey since the reunion. 1st show was awesome, but the last one was one of the weakest shows on the tour. It was also less packed last time. I really want to go, get good floor seats, but I’m debating playing the waiting game, or just pulling the trigger tomorrow morning. Any thoughts?

I'll tell you what I'm doing.  I'm going to see if dynamic pricing works in my favor.  I will only do GA, but at $375+$77 TM fees face value today during the presale there's no way I will pull the trigger on these.  IF Ticketmaster really has dynamic pricing then those ticket prices should decline. The reason why is I'm personally expecting poor ticket sales for all these shows as I believe they're overpriced and frankly unless this band has something new to add to this show that they openly promote we should see these tickets dip. The problem is TM doesn't have a price ceiling, only a price floor.  So we'll see how low they go.  I wouldn't buy unless I see a notable decline, like at least 15% off the $375 base price.  That'll also bring the TM fees down.

  9. I'm skipping this tour.  The price of GA for Metlife is insulting.  $453 after the TM fees.  No thanks. Funny part is I can afford these tickets, but I can't continue to encourage this nonsense of the same setlist, subpar vocals and half the set being cover songs. I've only willingly skipped GNR once in my life.  The Brooklyn Bowl show and it turned out Axl was sick anyways and ended the show early.  But for me not to buy a GA seat at face value when it was available is saying something.  I'm sure I'm not the only hardcore fan looking at these prices and passing.  Until they promise an updated setlist, bring Izzy and/or Steven on tour or get an insane opening act I'm staying on the sidelines for this one.

Hello everyone. I'm sorry to push this old thread up but I do have footage of 2 of those Marquee gigs.

I'm friends with the Quireboys, back then Queerboys, did a bit of roadie work and recorded them back in the days. The Marquee was like our 2nd living room for a while and they played the night after GNR's first night and GNR came to watch their gig which more or less got them the support spot a few months later at the Hammersmith.

I don't want to bore you so to shorten the story, I taped quite a lot of their first and second night at the Marquee and also the Hammersmith gig. I haven't checked the tapes in like 30 years and actually just dug them up 2 weeks ago. Also need to find a way to transfer the old tapes but if you guys are interested in the footage I'll put it up somewhere after I transferred them.

So let me know and I see what I can do.

Nah man, we don't want to see that.... OF COURSE WE DO WOW WOW WOW WOW!

Did Axl ever go on Howard Stern again after Stern's producer said this? Also how long was his bodyguard Earl employed by him? I'm surprised he was still there in the early 2000s.

It was Doug Goodstein who said it and Doug was the executive producer of Howard TV.  He hasn't been there for a long time so if Axl only had a problem with him, he could definitely go back on the show (slim chance I know).  Doug and Mike Gange had gone to the MSG show together.  I used to work with those guys in the late 2000's and when I asked them about it Doug felt kinda bad that he might have caused the tour cancellation.  Gange thought it was hilarious.

When Duff sings people go for a beer break, the people pay to hear Axl sing. They'll put up with Duffs solo spot but he's not getting 2/3 songs on lead vocals. We can say Slash has driven the shows since 2017, but if you are honest and you look at the crowd once Axl goes off stage their attention last about 2 minutes and then they are all wondering A) where's axl, when is he coming back. B) should I just go to the bathroom while nothings happening. We're talking about the large percentage of the audience, obviously there are plenty who are glued to the stage from the moment they enter the gig.

Fair enough.  I was selfishly thinking of myself (and other hardcore fans). But Axl does sing backing vocals on those songs too.  I'm not suggesting he leave the stage completely, but rather do those songs to give his voice a break and satisfy us maniacs.  Oh and to be clear, I don't want all 4 of those in one set, I was thinking just rotate them in place of the covers.

14 Years & Dust N' Bones are obviously not played anymore because Izzy sang those.

Axl couldn't do Don't Damn Me live back in the 90s why would you think he could do it now?

He never even attempted it though.  It doesn't seem vocally challenging (full disclosure I'm NOT a singer).  I dunno, I'm just fiending something different.

WTTJ, SCOM, PC – always should be played. The utmost staples.
NR, KOHD – will always be played whether we like it or not.
ISE, Mr. B – will always be played, but these ones are the least problematic
ANYTHING from the rest can get alternated. Yes, that includes RQ, YCBM etc. For example, they alternated YCBM with My Michelle in 93 (see Saskatoon), and I don’t remember any articles about how the band lost fans over this change. Same applies to the rest.

DTJ is the only song that I think could stay or go.  I wish the band would debut Don't Damn Me for the first time.  It isn't a great song, but geez just give us something different.  I feel like it's in the same vein as DTJ, ISE, Mr Brownstone, etc vocally for Axl.

Totally agree on YCBM. Just let it die. Sure its one of the 'hits', but it sounds like garbage live.

I know they aren't everyone's favorite songs but I can't understand why we don't get more songs like So Fine, 14 Years & Dust N' Bones (Let Duff sing them), You Ain't the First in place of the covers.

I remain in disbelief at how much I like this song. I somehow seem to like it more with each listen.

I really do like everything about it.  To me it's raw and straightforward rock that sounds like it would fit on like Live Like a Suicide more than any other album.  Before this if anybody asked me what I hoped the first single from Axl, Slash and Duff would be after all this time I'd want it to be a loud angry song.  It checks all my boxes

I spend a lot of time on YouTube for content these days. Starting yesterday, nearly ad that played before and during videos was for the GN'R show in Detroit in a few weeks.

I'm guessing the $29/ticket 4 packs didn't end up selling, so now they have to do an ad blitz to hopefully move tickets.

I feel like I'm about a week away from seeing free tickets via the casinos / stadium adjacent businesses.

YouTube huh? Maybe if there was some live GNR videos on YouTube they could REALLY target the people who are, ya know, interested in seeing GNR live :rofl-lol:
